Family of Bronx teenager says NYPD is responsible for her suicide in custody

I'm really concerned about this one 🤕. It's just heartbreaking to think that a young girl's life was lost due to what sounds like complete neglect. I mean, if her mom said she had suicidal thoughts and wanted help, you'd think the police would take immediate action, right? But instead, they left her in a cell with no supervision... it's just not right.

And this isn't an isolated incident - we've seen way too many cases like this where people have died or been seriously hurt due to mental health issues. It's time for the NYPD (and law enforcement everywhere) to get serious about training and support for officers dealing with crisis situations. We need better systems in place to prioritize people's lives, not just follow procedure 🙄.

I'm all for accountability, but this case feels like a classic example of how our justice system can fail us when it comes to mental health... 😔

OMG, I'm literally so shook by this news 🤕 like how can they leave her alone in a cell with only a sweater and no one checks on her?! Her mom had already told them she's suicidal and stuff but no one did anything about it... it's just not right 😔. I mean we all know that mental health is super important and the police need to be trained on how to handle these situations better, like they have a special protocol or something 🤓. It's so frustrating when people die due to negligence like this... my heart goes out to Saniyah's family 🙏, I hope they get justice soon 💕.
