Three Chicagoans Face Justice After Elderly Woman Battered in Suburban Home Invasion
A brazen robbery in a quiet suburban neighborhood left a 73-year-old woman shaken and bound at gunpoint, with thieves making off with her valuables and leaving her for her own escape. The dramatic events unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when the woman returned to her Homer Glen home after grocery shopping only to be confronted by a gunman.
The assailant was accompanied by another male suspect who emerged from a stolen dark-colored Acura, also taken from Chicago. They quickly overpowered the elderly woman, tying her ankles and wrists before making their way inside where they removed her credit card, demanded her PIN, and withdrew $2,000 from an Orland Park bank.
Miraculously, the victim managed to escape 20 minutes later with the help of a neighbor, sparking an investigation into the targeted nature of the attack. Authorities now believe it was random but took out on an elderly woman due to her age.
Police received a tip that led them to issue an area-wide alert regarding an armed robbery in Lemont before tracking down suspects who were operating the same stolen Acura used in the earlier incident. The chase culminated with the vehicle crashing near U.S. 52 and Rowell Avenue in unincorporated Will County, prompting officers to apprehend three individuals โ one a juvenile.
Two of the suspects are being held for questioning while the third has been taken to an area hospital for evaluation. Authorities have recovered two guns from the scene and revealed that all three suspects have extensive criminal histories, including prior weapons-related offenses.
As charges continue to pile up against the trio, the community breathes a sigh of relief knowing justice is on its way for those who broke into an unsuspecting elderly woman's home.
