YouTuber Jack Doherty arrested for drug possession after blocking Miami Beach traffic for social media video, police say

Miami Beach Man Arrested for Disrupting Traffic for Social Media Fix: "I'm a Free Man, Baby"

A social media influencer with over 3.2 million YouTube subscribers was taken into custody in Miami Beach early Saturday morning after he allegedly disrupted traffic to film content for his online channel.

According to arrest documents obtained by CBS News, the 22-year-old, identified as Jack Doherty, attempted to create a video while blocking traffic on Washington Avenue within the city's Entertainment District. Police officers were conducting a high-visibility detail in the area when they encountered the individual who separated from his group and started engaging them to "create video content."

Despite multiple commands to exit the roadway and warnings that failing to comply would result in arrest, Doherty refused to leave the road. He even told officers he had "once I'm done with this bet," as he was found to have a significant amount of amphetamine and marijuana on him.

According to the documents, police officers searched Doherty's person and discovered half of an orange oval-shaped pill with 3 imprinted on it, consistent with a Schedule II amphetamine, as well as three hand-rolled suspected cannabis cigarettes.

Doherty was subsequently taken into custody by Miami Beach Police, who stated that they remain committed to maintaining public safety and order throughout the city, regardless of celebrity status.

A night after his arrest, Doherty posted a TikTok video on Saturday night showing him being released from jail and boasting about being "free" again, saying "I'm a free man, baby. Let's go."

CBS News has reached out to Doherty's representatives for comment on the incident.

omg what a total genius move by jack doherty 🤦‍♂️ i mean who needs traffic laws and public safety when you can make a sick vid for your youtube subs? i'm just shocked he didn't get into an accident while filming his masterpiece 😂. idk man, seems like someone needs to teach this guy about responsibility... or maybe just take away his influencer status 🤷‍♂️

omg what is wrong with these social media influencers 🤯 they're so famous but can't even follow traffic laws 🚫 like wtf was he thinking blocking traffic to make a video? and then trying to spin it like "I'm a free man, baby" when really he's just a reckless driver 🙄 and amphetamines are no joke 😵 anyway gotta give it to the miami beach cops for keeping it real 👮‍♂️ they don't care about Doherty's followers or his YouTube channel, they're all about public safety 💯

omg dude 🤯 what is wrong with these social media influencers?! they need to think about their fans and the laws not just themselves. i mean, who tries to block traffic just to get a viral video? it's so reckless and irresponsible 🙅‍♂️. and amphetamines and weed? no thanks! 😷 they're setting a terrible example for their young followers. and that "i'm free man baby" tiktok tho... really? 🤣 just shows how out of touch they are with reality.

omg u wont believe wut happnd 2 that social media influencer in miami beach he literally blocked traffic 4 his YouTube vids lol like wat kinda content r u even tryna post? & then he got caught with a bunch of meds i dont no if its gonna b a problem for him or watever idk but it seems like he just thought the world revolved around him 🤦‍♂️🚗

OMG u gotta feel bad 4 this guy! 🤷‍♂️ He's just tryna make a livin' online & create content 4 his fans, but gets pinched by the law instead. Like, what's the harm in stoppin' traffic to film a vid? It's not like he was puttin' ppl's lives in danger or anythin'. 🙅‍♂️ He even says sorry & takes responsibility for his actions... that's all anyone can ask 4! 🤗 And can u believe he got busted w/ just half an amphetamine pill? Like, chill dude 🍹. I mean, yes, he should've done it right, but the law's pretty harsh, u feel? 💯

🤯 Dude, this is crazy! I mean, I get it, social media influencers have a platform and all that, but do they need to risk lives and public safety to film content? 🚨 This guy was literally putting people's lives at risk just to get a few views on YouTube. And for what? So he can say "I'm a free man"? Like, what even is the point of that? 😒 It's all about priorities, bro. 🤷‍♂️
