What’s going on in metro Detroit this week (Oct. 29-Nov. 4) - Detroit Metro Times

This Halloween, metro Detroit is set to be a hotbed of spooky fun and exciting events. Youmacon, the city's largest anime and pop culture convention, is celebrating its 20th year at Huntington Place with thousands of fans descending upon the venue to mingle, shop, and indulge in celebrity appearances.

The highlight of the event will undoubtedly be the cosplay, where attendees can showcase their creativity and passion by crafting their own intricate costumes. With over two decades under its belt, Youmacon promises an unforgettable experience for both newcomers and seasoned con-goers alike.

But what about those who prefer a more low-key Halloween celebration? For them, Detroit offers a range of alternative options. One such event is the bar crawl that takes place on Friday and Saturday nights. This unique experience allows participants to explore various neighborhoods while enjoying drinks, food specials, and even having their photos taken by a professional photographer.

Another family-friendly option is Ford's new Halloween party at Michigan Central Station. Featuring trunk-or-treating, mask-making, face-painting, and live DJ performances, this event promises to be an enjoyable experience for children of all ages.

Those who prefer the thrills of live music will be thrilled to hear that the Insane Clown Posse will be headlining a special Halloween show at Detroit's Masonic Temple. The Wicked Clowns Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope promise a spectacular lineup, with surprise guests and live streaming on veeps.com for those who can't make it in person.

For adults looking to shake off the spooky vibes, Northern Lights Lounge is hosting a Halloween DJ night featuring renowned Detroit house music artist Marcellus Pittman. With an impressive lineup of DJs, this monster mash promises to be an unforgettable experience for those who dare to enter the depths of the dance floor.

As the spookiest day of the year approaches, metro Detroit will undoubtedly come alive with spirits and excitement. Whether you're into anime conventions, family-friendly events, or pulsating DJ nights, there's something for everyone in this Halloween-hued city.

I'm so stoked that Youmacon is back for its 20th year 🎉👻. I've been to a few cons in the past and it's always such a blast meeting fellow fans and cosplayers. But, I have to say, if I'm not feeling the cosplay scene, there are some awesome alternatives for those who just wanna chill on Halloween night 😎. Like, have you ever been to a bar crawl? It's actually really fun exploring different neighborhoods with friends and enjoying some spooky drinks 🍻👺. And then there's Ford's Halloween party at Michigan Central Station - my little cousin went last year and had the best time trick-or-treating and making face paint masterpieces 👶💄. I'm also excited that Insane Clown Posse is coming to town for their special Halloween show 🎸🔥! And, if you're feeling really adventurous, Northern Lights Lounge's DJ night could be a great way to shake off the spooky vibes 💃🏽🕷️. All in all, metro Detroit's got some awesome events lined up for Halloween this year... can't wait to see what it's like 🎃👻!

🎃👻 So I was thinking, what's with all these spooky events happening around Halloween? It's like people want to immerse themselves in the vibes or something! 🤔 And honestly, I think that's kinda awesome. Like, who doesn't love a good costume party or dancing the night away to some sick beats? 🕺🏻 For me, it's all about finding your own way to celebrate without feeling pressured into doing everything with everyone else. Maybe just grab a few friends and have a chill movie marathon at home instead? 😎 But hey, if you're into that whole cosplay thing or wanna get all dressed up and out for some live music, more power to ya! 🤟♀️ Just make sure to stay safe and hydrated throughout the night, 'kay? 💦

I'm so hyped for Youmacon this year! 20 years is a big deal 🎉👏, I've been to some of the previous ones and it's always an amazing experience. Cosplay is everything 💃🕺, can't wait to see all the creative costumes and meet some of the guests. And for those who want something low-key, bar crawl on Friday nights sounds like a great way to get into Halloween spirit 🍻😄. Ford's Halloween party at Michigan Central Station also looks like a lot of fun for the whole family 👪🎃. Insane Clown Posse is going to bring so much energy to that show 💥👊 and Northern Lights Lounge's DJ night with Marcellus Pittman will definitely get me moving on the dance floor 💃🏽🕺! Detroit always knows how to throw a spooky good time 🎃😈

So I think what's really cool about Youmacon is that it's not just a one-dimensional anime fest - they've got all sorts of stuff going on to cater to different tastes 🎃. But at the same time, if you're not into all that cosplay and anime business, there are plenty of other ways to celebrate Halloween in Detroit. Like, have you ever been to a bar crawl? It's such a great way to explore new neighborhoods and just let loose with friends... plus the photo ops are always a bonus 📸.

And I love that Ford is hosting this family-friendly party at Michigan Central Station - trunk-or-treating, face-painting, live music... it sounds like an absolute blast for kids of all ages 👧🏻. And the Insane Clown Posse show? That's gonna be pure energy 💥. As for me, I'm more of a chill vibe kinda person, so I'd probably head to Northern Lights Lounge for their Halloween DJ night 🕺. Marcellus Pittman is like, a total legend in Detroit's house music scene, and I know the crowd will love him 💃.

But what really gets me excited about this Halloween season is that there's something for everyone in Detroit - whether you're into anime, music, or just want to have fun with friends... it's all here 🎉. So grab a friend, dress up in your best costume, and get ready to party like it's October 31st 🔥!

OMG, I'm so down for a chill Halloween night out in Detroit! 🎃 I mean, where else can you find an epic cosplay scene at Youmacon, or a spooky bar crawl that's actually fun? 😂 And for those who want to keep it low-key, there are tons of family-friendly events like Ford's Halloween party at Michigan Central Station. It's all about finding the silver lining, right? 🌟 Plus, the Insane Clown Posse is coming to town, and I'm all about that Violent J vibes! 💥 Northern Lights Lounge's Halloween DJ night sounds like an absolute blast too... can't wait to get my dance on with Marcellus Pittman! 💃🏽💔

I'm so down for that Youmacon 20th anniversary party 🎉! Back in my day, we didn't have all these awesome conventions and events, but it's amazing to see how they've grown over the years. I love the cosplay aspect - it's such a great way to express yourself and show off your creativity. And dude, if you're into anime, Youmacon is the place to be! But, at the same time, I'm also stoked that Detroit has so many other cool options for Halloween celebrations. Like, who doesn't love a good bar crawl or a spooky DJ night? 🍻🕷️

man I'm so excited for halloween in detroit! 🎃 but have you checked the accuracy of the dates for youmacon? I couldn't find any info confirming it's actually happening at huntington place... 🤔 maybe it's just a rumor? 🙅‍♂️ anyway, if it is true, that would be awesome! cosplaying is so much fun and i love how they're gonna have a bar crawl too - we should totally check it out with some friends! 👫

omg i'm so down for that Youmacon event!!! 🎃👗 i've been waiting for 20 years and it's finally happening 🤩 the cosplay is always my fave part too, can't wait to see all the amazing costumes 💕 and btw who needs a big con when you have a bar crawl in detroit? 😉 just kidding kinda but seriously, detroit has so many cool options for halloween this year. i'm thinking of checking out that Insane Clown Posse show at the masonic temple 🤪 violent j and shaggy 2 dope are my jam 🔥

I'm so excited for Halloween in Metro Detroit this year 🎃🕷️! Youmacon is always a blast and I love how they incorporate celebrity appearances to make it even more special for fans 💖. But, gotta say, if you're lookin' for somethin' low-key, the bar crawl on Friday and Saturday nights sounds like so much fun 🍻🎉! I mean, who doesn't love explorin' neighborhoods with their fave drinks and grub? 😋 And, Ford's Halloween party at Michigan Central Station is a great option too - trunk-or-treatin', face-paintin', and all that jazz is always a win for the kiddos 👧🏼🎃. If you're more into the DJ scene, Northern Lights Lounge's Halloween bash is gonna be lit 🔥! Can't wait to see what else this year has in store 🤔!

🎃👻 The road to hell is paved with good intentions, but on a night like Halloween, it's all about embracing the thrill of the unknown and letting go of our fears 🕷️💀. Let's not forget to have fun and make some unforgettable memories, because that's what life is all about!

I'm so down for Youmacon this year! They always bring out the best cosplay vibes 💁‍♀️🎨. But I think it's dope that Detroit has so many other fun alternatives for Halloween, like the bar crawl and Ford's party at Michigan Central Station 🎉. The Insane Clown Posse is gonna bring the house down at the Masonic Temple though - Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope know how to throw a spooky rager 🕷️! And for those who need a chill Halloween, Northern Lights Lounge's DJ night is gonna be lit 🔥. I'm all about that Detroit spirit this Halloween!

I'm not convinced that Youmacon really needs to celebrate its 20th year with such a big deal 🤔. I mean, what's the proof that it's actually been hosting events for 20 years? Are we supposed to just take their word for it? And why do they need to make such a big splash about it? Can't they just chill and let it happen organically?

And on the other hand, I think the alternative options sound pretty cool 🎉. The bar crawl seems like a fun way to experience different neighborhoods, and Ford's Halloween party at Michigan Central Station sounds like a great option for families. But I'm still skeptical about the Insane Clown Posse's Halloween show... how can we trust that they'll actually deliver on their promises? Where are the reviews or ratings from previous shows? 🤷‍♂️

Ugh, another crowded con event 🤯🎉 Youmacon is going to be so packed this year! Can't they do a better job with ticket sales? I'm all for celebrating our pop culture scene but 20 years of the same old thing might be getting stale. And don't even get me started on the lines for the celebrity autograph sessions 🚫👀 Give me some more chill events, like that bar crawl or Ford's Halloween party at Michigan Central Station. Those sound way more fun and less stressful 😊.

I'm so stoked for Youmacon! 20 years is a big deal and I've heard the cosplay is gonna be fire 🤩. But, like, what about those who wanna keep it low-key? The bar crawl sounds like an amazing way to explore Detroit's neighborhoods while having a blast with friends 💃. And, omg, Ford's Halloween party at Michigan Central Station looks so much fun! Trunk-or-treating and live DJ performances for the win 🎃. I'm also hyped that Insane Clown Posse is headlining a show - Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope never fail to bring the energy 💥. Northern Lights Lounge's Halloween DJ night with Marcellus Pittman sounds like an epic way to shake off the spooky vibes 🎶. Can't wait to see what metro Detroit has in store for Halloween this year!
