War in Sudan: Humanitarian, fighting, control developments, October 2025

Sudan's civil war rages on, with both sides committing atrocities and showing little sign of abatement. The situation in Darfur is particularly dire, as the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has effectively taken control of the entire region after capturing the city of el-Fasher last month. This devastating development was marked by a campaign of mass killing against civilians fleeing to remote villages and towns, with at least 1,500 people murdered in just 48 hours.

The RSF's actions have been described as "genocidal" by some, and its human rights abuses are becoming increasingly egregious. The group has also captured the strategic town of Baraa in North Kordofan state, where it committed acute atrocities, including murder and forced displacement of thousands of people.

With the RSF now poised to attack North Kordofan's capital, el-Obeid, the situation is growing increasingly dire. Hundreds of thousands of residents have been trapped in el-Fasher, hiding from RSF troops in underground trenches or trekking through the desert to reach safety. The UN has warned of a "humanitarian catastrophe" unfolding in Darfur, with women and girls being raped and people mutilated as they try to flee.

The conflict is also having a devastating impact on Sudan's humanitarian situation. Famine levels are spreading across the country, despite the government's efforts to mitigate the crisis. The World Food Program has expressed concern over the expulsion of two of its top officials, which it says "jeopardizes" its humanitarian operations.

Diplomatic efforts to end the war have thus far been unsuccessful, with the RSF repeatedly exploiting mediation forums and peace talks to wage major offensives. A meeting between the Quad – comprising the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia – ended without making any meaningful progress towards a ceasefire.

The situation is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of war in Sudan, where civilians are bearing the brunt of the conflict. With no end in sight to the violence, it remains to be seen how long the humanitarian crisis will persist, or what measures will be taken to address the root causes of the conflict.

πŸ€• this is just heartbreaking whats going on in darfur rn its like there is no end to the suffering the rsf is literally committing atrocities left and right 1500+ people killed in 48 hrs is insane the situation is getting worse by the day with hundreds of thousands trapped in el-fasher with no way out or safety the UN is sounding the alarm about a humanitarian catastrophe unfolding i just hope something gets done soon to end this war and bring peace back to sudan 🀞

Man this is just getting out of hand in Darfur 🀯...the RSF's actions are straight up horrific and it's like the world is just standing by watching. I mean, 1,500 people murdered in 48 hours? That's insane! And now they're threatening to attack el-Obeid? What's next?! The UN's warning of a humanitarian catastrophe is no joke, it's real people's lives we're talking about πŸ€•. And what about the famine levels spreading across Sudan? It's like the conflict is sucking all the life out of this country πŸ’€. We need to do something to stop this madness ASAP...like, now!

πŸ€• this situation is just horrific... the RSF's actions are insane! how can they just go around killing innocent people and taking over entire cities? 🀯 1,500 people in just 48 hours is absolutely staggering... no wonder the UN is calling it a "humanitarian catastrophe". 😨 it's like the world has just turned a blind eye to what's happening in Darfur. the fact that the Quad meeting didn't make any progress towards a ceasefire is just frustrating πŸ™„ and with famine levels spreading across Sudan, it's like the situation can't get any worse. πŸŒͺ️ someone needs to take action ASAP! πŸ’₯

I feel so bad for the people of Darfur they're goin thru some real trauma πŸ€•πŸ˜”. I dont think we can just blame one side tho, its like both sides are doin stuff thats wrong. The RSF's actions are def on a whole other level tho, but its also true that the gov is not helpin much. I mean, theyre tryna provide aid and all, but its not reachin everyone in need. And what about the ones who r already trapped in el-Fasher? They're stuck with nothin 😩. I wish we cud just get a clear picture of whats goin on there so we can figger out how to help them better πŸ€”.

I remember when this all started, like 5 years ago 🀯. I was reading about how Sudan's civil war was escalating and how people were being displaced left and right. Now it seems like things have only gotten worse πŸ’”. The fact that a paramilitary group is just taking over entire regions and committing atrocities is just heartbreaking 😭. And the UN is saying there's a humanitarian catastrophe unfolding? Like, what even is the point of having peace talks if you're not going to get any closer to stopping this violence? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I also remember when I read about the World Food Program being expelled from Sudan. That was like, 2 years ago 😳. And now they're saying that's jeopardizing their humanitarian operations? It just seems like a bunch of stuff is getting blown out of proportion right now πŸ™„.

It's crazy how fast things can spiral out of control when there's no real effort to address the root causes of these conflicts 🀯. I mean, we keep talking about how important it is to have peace talks and diplomatic efforts, but what are we really doing? πŸ€”

This is just a never-ending nightmare πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. Can't believe the world is watching this unfold without doing anything πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. The UN has been warning about humanitarian catastrophes for years, but still nothing's being done πŸ’”. Sudan deserves better than this πŸ’•. How many more innocent lives have to be lost before something changes? 🀞

my heart is breaking thinking about all those innocent people caught in this devastating war πŸ€•πŸ’” Sudan is suffering so much right now, and it's just not fair that civilians are being targeted like this. I can only imagine how scared and helpless hundreds of thousands of people must feel, trapped underground or trekking through the desert with no safety in sight 😩 It's heartbreaking to see the humanitarian situation spiraling out of control, with famine levels spreading across the country πŸŒΎπŸ’€ The fact that women and girls are being raped and mutilated is just unbearable, it's a crime against humanity... my thoughts are with all those affected by this war, I can only hope for peace to come soon ✨

man this sudan situation is just getting worse by the day πŸ€• its like the whole country is being torn apart and nobody's doing anything about it. 1500 people killed in 48 hours? thats not even a blip on the radar for most ppl, but to the ppl living thru that its every days life or death struggle πŸ’” the world needs to step up and do something more than just send diplomats over πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ food is running out, ppl are getting raped, and im like what can we even do to help?
