I'm really worried about the people living in Western Sahara . I just can't understand why Morocco gets to decide what's best for them when it seems so unfair. The fact that 75% of the territory is under Moroccan control is just not right. It feels like their rights and freedom are being ignored.
I'm also concerned about Algeria's stance on this issue. I get that they want the Polisario Front to have a say, but can't they see how it's affecting the already fragile situation? And what's going to happen next? Will we just sit back and watch as more tensions rise?
As a parent, it's hard for me not to think about my own kids living in such uncertainty. I want them to grow up in a world where everyone has equal rights and opportunities. But if the UN can't even get this right, what hope is there?
I don't usually comment but I think this resolution is super troubling... I mean, Morocco's got control over 75% of that territory and now it's basically solidified? I get where Algeria and Polisario are coming from too – self-determination and all that... But at the same time, it feels like the US is backing a friend over a bunch of other countries with different interests...
It's crazy how African nations are just kinda... abstaining or whatever? It highlights how divided everyone is on this issue. And what about those protests from Polisario? Do they even get a voice now that this resolution is passed? I don't think we're seeing enough context here about what 'genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty' really means... it sounds like just more code for Morocco getting to keep control
man I just read this about Morocco getting backing from the UN for its claim over Western Sahara and honestly I'm kinda surprised it wasn't a bigger deal back in 2017 when Theresa May was PM lol. I mean Algeria is still upset about it but you'd think some countries would've spoken up sooner given how big of a deal this is. it's just so weird that the US is pushing for Morocco to have more control over the region...I guess it's all about balance and stuff , but still I'm kinda worried about the impact on efforts to achieve peace in Western Sahara. 75% of the territory controlled by Moroccans is a pretty big deal...anyway, this whole situation just seems super complicated
omg the layout of this news article is straight up messy i mean, first they mention Morocco claims western sahara then jump to Algeria & polisario front without even linking it back to morocco again. and what's with all these bullet points? its like they're trying to cram in as much info as possible without thinking about how it flows
anyway back to the news i think this resolution is super problematic algeria & other african nations have a point about morocco's control over western sahara. we need more info on referendum rights before we can even start talking about peace
and what's with the US leading initiative? cant they just step out of the way for once? its like they're trying to solve everyone else's problems while ignoring their own
this is really concerning, 11 countries backing Morocco over the Polisario Front? Algeria and other African nations are right to feel left out & frustrated it's like the UN just ignored their perspectives what's next? more conflicts escalating because of a simple vote? can't we find a way for everyone to have a say in Western Sahara's future?
