UK, UN and EU deplore 'monumental injustice' of Jimmy Lai's 20-year jail sentence

🤕 I'm still thinking about this, but isn't China's whole "restoring stability" thing just a cop-out? They know they're crushing dissent and opposition, so to claim it's all about maintaining order is just laughable 🙄. And what's with the UK not doing more? Like, they said they'd secure Jimmy Lai's release, but if that doesn't happen... I don't know, man 🤷‍♂️.

And have you seen the reaction from China? "Justice is being upheld"? Are they kidding me? It's just a one-way street where dissenting voices are silenced 🔇. The international community needs to step up and call out this gross injustice, rather than just sending empty platitudes 🙅‍♂️.

I remember when Jimmy Lai was first arrested, people were talking about how brave he was for speaking out against the Chinese government... now it seems like they're being punished for it 😔. My heart goes out to his family, especially Sebastien, who's got a lot to deal with right now 🤕.

I'm literally shook by this news 🤯 The UK and EU saying that Jimmy Lai's sentence is basically a death sentence 😩 Like, 20 years in prison is insane! I can see why Sebastien Lai would be fearing for his dad's life - it's like they're playing with people's lives here. And Beijing's response is just laughable... "justice being upheld"?? Are they even kidding? 🙄 Reporters Without Borders saying Jimmy Lai was a symbol of media freedom in Hong Kong makes me so angry 😤 How can they be so tone-deaf about this?! It's time for some serious pressure to be put on Beijing. We need to see some real action here 👊
