Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sharply criticized Germany over its perceived ignorance of Israel's alleged "genocide" in Gaza. Erdogan made these comments at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ankara on Thursday.
Erdogan claimed that Israel, which possesses nuclear and other advanced weaponry, is using them to threaten the Gaza Strip. He also stated that Hamas lacks access to similar equipment. Despite a fragile US-brokered ceasefire that took effect on October 10, Israel has continued to launch bombardments on Gaza, killing at least 104 people, mostly women and children.
Erdogan called for international aid organizations such as Germany's Red Cross and Turkey's Red Crescent to be involved in ending the "genocide" and "deliberate starvation" in Gaza. He emphasized that it is both Germany's and Turkey's humanitarian duty to intervene.
Turkish President Erdogan reiterated his support for an end to the conflict, comparing it to Russia's war with Ukraine. He suggested a partnership between Turkey and Germany could be key to resolving the situation. However, tensions exist due to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar's opposition to any Turkish troops joining an international force tasked with monitoring the ceasefire.
Since its beginning in October 2023, Israel's war on Gaza has resulted in at least 68,527 deaths and 170,395 injuries.

. Erdogan's comments might be seen as a bit dramatic, but I get where he's coming from – it does seem like Israel is using its military advantage to target civilians. The fact that Hamas doesn't have access to similar equipment is a big imbalance. What really gets me is how many people (104+ already) are getting caught in the crossfire

It feels like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place, with neither side willing to give an inch. I'm not sure what the solution is, but it's gotta be something that involves more than just words – we need real action on the ground.

I think both sides are losing people unnecessarily. What's the point of having advanced weaponry if you're just gonna use it on civilians? Germany should really be doing more to help stop this "genocide" in Gaza...

so what's going on here is that turkey is saying germany is just sitting there like a doormat while israel keeps bombing gaza and killing all those people... I mean I get why germany might not want to take sides but come on, Erdogan is right, this isn't right.
