The next macOS update can turn your screen into a ring light

Apple is set to revolutionize the way we present ourselves in video calls with its latest macOS update. The upcoming Tahoe 26.2 will feature Edge Light, a game-changing technology that transforms your computer screen into a ring light, helping you shine brighter and more confidently on camera.

The innovative feature uses Apple's Neural Engine to detect your face within the frame and position the light accordingly, creating an ideal amount of illumination around the edge of the screen. What's more, Edge Light comes with some thoughtful controls – including the ability to adjust the warmth or coolness of the light – allowing you to fine-tune your look.

One of the most impressive aspects of this feature is its seamless integration into everyday use. The Edge Light will automatically turn on once the brightness in your environment dims, and it even moves out of the way if the cursor hovers over it, ensuring that you can continue using your laptop normally while on a call. This means you won't have to resort to makeshift lighting solutions like opening multiple Google Docs tabs – no more awkward attempts to find the perfect spot.

While Edge Light might not replace traditional ring lights entirely, it's undoubtedly an improvement that will make a significant difference in video conferencing situations. And with its availability exclusive to MacBooks from 2024 and later models running on Apple's Silicon, users can look forward to a more polished and professional online presence.

idk about this Edge Light thing 🤔... i mean, it sounds super cool, but is it really necessary? like, do we really need our faces to be perfectly lit all the time when were just chillin' on a video call with friends or family? 🤷‍♀️

on one hand, it's nice that it adjusts automatically and doesn't mess up your view... but on the other hand, i can already see how annoying it'll be if i'm in a dark room and my laptop starts making weird noises to compensate for the lack of light 😂. and what about those who don't have macbooks? aren't they gonna feel left out? 🤔

i guess the point is that it's an improvement, but i still dont see why we need this fancy tech in our lives... can't we just use a regular ol' lamp or something? 😜

Umm I dont get why u need a ring light on ur laptop screen... cant u just use a real one like a normal person 🤷‍♂️? Like, how much money is this gonna cost? Im still using my old MacBook and my webcam is pretty good enough for me. Plus, Ive never had any issues with lighting in video calls. This just seems like a gimmick to make people spend more on fancy tech 🤑.

I'm so stoked about this new feature! I mean, who hasn't struggled with uneven lighting or awkward shadows in video calls? 🤦‍♀️ It's like, you're trying to have a great conversation, but your face is all washed out or weirdly lit... yeah, no thanks. Edge Light sounds like a total game-changer - I love that it's got those fancy controls for adjusting the warmth/coolness of the light too! 💡 And how cool is it that it just kinda... adapts to the situation? 🤓

I'm not sure about this Edge Light thing... 🤔 I mean, it sounds like something that should be a no-brainer for Apple to include, but at the same time, isn't it just using the camera's built-in capabilities? Like, why is it even called "Edge Light" if it's just going to shine light on your face anyway? 🤷‍♀️ And what's with the automatic turning on feature? Is that really necessary? Can't we just use our own judgment when our surroundings get dimmer? 🌑 I'm also a bit skeptical about how seamless this integration is supposed to be. How do we know it won't interfere with other features or cause any lag? 😒

I'm telling you, this whole Edge Light thing is just another step towards total surveillance 🤔. I mean, who needs a personal ring light when the computer can detect your face and adjust the lighting for you? It's like they're trying to create some kind of digital aura around us, monitoring our every move... and expression 😬. And what about the "automatic" feature that turns on once it dims in the room? That just sounds like a fancy way of saying "we can track your location and activity 24/7"... 🕵️‍♀️. Mark my words, this is just the beginning of Apple's (and the government's) attempt to control our online presence 💻.

this is kinda cool but like what about the laptops that don't have that silicon thingy? 🤔 will they be left behind or is apple gonna make them compatible too? also, i dont get why its called Edge Light, cant it just be ring light haha 💡 and btw, who needs to fine tune the warmth/coldness of the light when u can just use a normal desk lamp lol 😂

OMG u guys! 🤯 I cant even ! this new Edge Light tech is literally gonna change the game for vids calls! it's so cool how its auto adjusts to ur face & brightness - no more awkward lighting setups lol 😂 i mean, having control over warmth & coolness of light is a major win too. And like, who doesnt hate when they're on a call and their face is all dark & unflattering in the background? 🤦‍♀️ this feature is gonna make ur vids calls SO much easier & more profesh 💁‍♀️

omg can you even imagine having a perfect ring light on your laptop screen like it's straight out of a fancy salon 🤩 edge light is literally the most genius thing i've seen all year i mean who needs a separate ring light when you can have one built into your macbook? and that it adjusts to your skin tone is a total game changer i'm so down for this update on my new laptop, i'm already imagining myself crushing video calls with more confidence 💁‍♀️💻
