The crescendo of pre-budget lobbying has rarely been so loud. Rachel Reeves must tune it out | Polly Toynbee

I'm not sure why anyone's getting so worked up about another bunch of tax proposals 🤔. Like, we already know banks are making bank (no pun intended) while ordinary folk are struggling to make ends meet 💸. A 35% energy profits levy was a good start, but I guess that wasn't enough for the industry groups to calm down 🙄. Now they're all up in arms about a windfall tax on big banks and gambling firms... how original 😂.

And don't even get me started on the property taxes 🏠🚫. It's like these companies are trying to turn homeowners into cash cows 🐓. I mean, if we want to talk about unfairness, it's the ones who make their money from us who need a reality check 👊.

I think the problem is that politicians have been too focused on pleasing everyone and not being honest with the public 🤷‍♀️. It's time for them to take a deep breath, look at the numbers, and make some tough decisions 💸. We can't keep relying on tax loopholes and special deals for a select few... it's just not sustainable 🌪️.

I'm all for fairness, but I don't think that means giving huge breaks to companies like Supermarket Association 🤦‍♂️. They're making millions while we're struggling to afford basic necessities 🤯. It's time to shift the balance in their favour and make them contribute a bit more 💪.

The government really needs to take a step back, assess the situation, and find a way to fix it without alienating everyone 🔍. It's not easy, I know, but someone's gotta do it 😊.
