Reddit is starting to verify public figures

idk about r/Reddit's new "verified" checkmark thing 🤔...it feels like they're trying to one-up Twitter (which was already kinda meh with its old verification system). anyway, i think it's cool that they're keeping it low-key and not making it a paid thing...but at the same time, what's the point of having "verified" if you can't just apply for it yourself? 🤷‍♂️ gotta keep an eye on how this plays out tho 👀

Man 🤔 I remember when social media was still young, we didn't need all these labels and badges 😂. Just having a profile and being active was enough, you know? But times have changed, and now it's like everyone wants to be verified and stuff 💯. Reddit trying this new thing with public figures, but I'm not sure if it's necessary 🤷‍♂️. I mean, we're already smart enough to spot the legit from the fake on our own 😊. Don't get me wrong, having some clarity when you're engaging with influential people is cool 👍, but let's not forget that verification shouldn't be all about making money 💸. It should be about trust and credibility, not just a way to sell badges 🎉.

I think its cool that reddit is trying to find a balance here 🤔. I mean on one hand u want 2 ensure that ppl r who they say they are but at the same time u dont wanna create too much drama or make it all about who's verified vs who's not. The idea of having a "grey" checkmark instead of the official one is pretty interesting, might help reduce some of the noise on the platform 📊. But at the end of the day its up 2 each individual 2 decide if they wanna verify their account or not, i dont think reddit should be forcing ppl 2 do it 💡.

I'm so over this 🤷‍♂️. A grey "verified" checkmark? Like that's gonna cut any ice with me. I mean, what's next? A special "I'm-a-journalist-but-also-a-Roblox-sponsor" badge? 🤑 And don't even get me started on how Reddit thinks they're being all transparent and stuff... like anyone actually believes their version of events. It's just a PR stunt to try and keep the influencers from getting roasted by users... meanwhile, we're still stuck in a sea of fake news and spam accounts 🚮

I think its kinda weird that reddit's taking this long to introduce verifiction, like they're trying to avoid getting sued by all these fake accounts 🤷‍♂️. But hey, at least now we know who to trust when we see the grey checkmark 💡. I'm curious about how they'll implement this voluntary verification thingy though, will it just be a checkbox on the profile or what? 🤔 And what's with the whole "ease the burden on moderators" thing? Like, aren't mods already dealing with fake accounts and whatnot? 🙄

I think its cool that reddit is taking steps to verify public figs 🤔.. I mean its good for clarity but also possible to make ppl feel like they're getting special treatment 🤑.. idk, just thinkin out loud 💭... dont wanna be one of those people who freaks out about it 🙅‍♂️. i guess its a step in the right direction tho 👍
