US Retailer Primark Issues Urgent Recall of Baby Product Amid Safety Concerns
In a move aimed at protecting consumers, fashion retailer Primark has initiated an immediate recall of its 2-Pack Soother Clip (Baby Bear) and Balloon products. The affected items feature cloth straps with wooden buttons to clip onto children's clothing, designed to hold pacifiers.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall notice for the product, citing potential choking and laceration hazards posed by the wooden buttons' tendency to detach. Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and return it to any Primark store for a full refund.
According to Primark, around 1,330 units of the recalled products were sold in select stores across the Northeast, Florida, Maryland, and Illinois between June and August this year, at a retail price of $5. In five reported cases, the wooden buttons detached, resulting in one instance where a screw was found inside an infant's mouth and another case involving a child's arm injury.
Primark has acknowledged that the product "does not meet our usual high safety standards." Consumers can reach out to Primark's customer service at 617-946-3236 (8 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET, Monday-Friday) or online at the company's recall webpage.
The recall notice does not specify an end-date for the affected products, emphasizing the urgent need for consumers to take action and ensure their safety.
