'Nothing to Lose': Nationwide protests challenge Iran’s regime

Iranian cities erupt in mass protests, demonstrators say "nothing to lose"

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets across major Iranian cities overnight, in a wave of nationwide demonstrations that appear to be growing more defiant by the hour. The protesters' determination is starkly evident as they demand change, with many fearing for their lives due to an intensifying crackdown.

According to experts, this is not just a spontaneous outburst but a deliberate, calculated move by the populace who genuinely feel the regime has nowhere to hide. "The streets of Iran are on fire," said Azadeh Pourzand, Senior Fellow at the Centre for Middle East and Global Order. "This isn't about a minor uprising; this is people fighting for their lives, feeling like they have nothing to lose."

The escalating situation has raised concerns that authorities might be ratcheting up their response under cover of an internet blackout. The protests are unprecedented in scale and ferocity, suggesting the extreme vulnerability of the Iranian regime.

As demonstrations continue to spread across the country, it remains to be seen whether these grassroots movements can bring about lasting change or if the government will manage to quell them through force. One thing is certain: the fate of the Iranian people hangs precariously in the balance.

I'm seriously worried about what's going on in Iran rn 🤕. These protests are huge and it's clear that the people have had enough of the government. The fact that they're saying "nothing to lose" is super scary, but at the same time, I think it shows how desperate they are for change. It's like they're throwing caution to the wind and demanding justice. 🌟 My heart goes out to all the protesters who might be in harm's way, let's hope they can make their voices heard without any major backlash 💪. The world is watching and I'm sure there are many people on both sides of the globe praying for a peaceful resolution ✝️.

lol what's next? 😂 a whole nation rising up against the man 🤣 just kidding ( sorta ) but seriously, this is getting intense... thousands taking to the streets, internet blackout, the works. it's like iran's equivalent of a tinder swipe left on their government - "oh yeah, we're good" 👋. experts are saying this isn't just some random riot, it's a full-blown uprising and i gotta agree, the regime does have nowhere to hide 🤯. will they manage to quell the protests or is this the start of something big? only time (and internet) will tell 🕰️. one thing for sure tho - the iranian people are not messing around 😒.

🤬 whats going on with iran rn? its like they're finally wakin up from some sorta deep sleep and are like "hold up, we gotta make a change"! the fact that millions are takin to the streets and bein all defiant is super inspiring 🤩. i mean, people are literally fightin for their lives over here. the gov'ts gonna have to get creative if they wanna stop this momentum 💥. its all about time now whether these demos bring about real change or just more bloodshed... my heart goes out to the ppl of iran 👊

🤔 The whole situation with Iran is just a mess, you know? People are literally out on the streets, risking their lives for no reason... or at least that's what I think 🙄. I mean, they're not going to get any change from the regime, right? They're not even going to get any attention from the world, let alone any real help. It's just a bunch of people standing in the streets, shouting and waving their hands... what's the point, really?

And don't even get me started on the experts and all that jazz 📚. Azadeh Pourzand thinks it's some kind of "deliberate, calculated move" by the populace? Give me a break 🙄. People are just scared and frustrated, that's all. They're not thinking clearly... they're just trying to make their voices heard, but in the end, who cares?

It's all just so predictable 🤯. The government will probably just crack down on it harder, maybe even worse than before 🔥. And then what? The protests will die down, and everyone will go back to their normal lives... except for a few brave souls who are still out there, risking everything. It's all just so... sad 😔.

🤔 I'm really worried about what's happening in Iran right now. It seems like the protests are getting more intense by the minute and the government is cracking down hard. I can only imagine how scared the protesters must be, but at the same time, it's amazing to see so many people standing up for what they believe in. The phrase "nothing to lose" really resonates with me - it's a reminder that sometimes you have to take a stand, no matter how scary or uncertain it may seem.

I think it's great that experts are saying this isn't just a random outburst, but a calculated move by the people who feel like they've got nothing to lose. It shows that the Iranian populace is united and determined to make some change happen. Fingers crossed that these protests can bring about real, lasting change for the country! 🤞

this is really scary 🤕, i mean its already bad enough with all the sanctions and whatnot but now its getting out of hand. u feel like iran's just gotta get to a point where they can talk to each other without all the fear & intimidation. protesters r not wrong tho, change needs to happen ASAP or else it's gonna be even worse for them 🌪️. its hard 2 watch from afar but u gotta hope that something good comes outta this mess 💭

idk what's going on with iran rn 🤔, but i'm not surprised by the protests. it seems like every year there's a new wave of unrest and the govt just cranks up the response 🚫. can we get some sources tho? where's azadeh pourzand from? is she affiliated w/ any orgs? also, what exactly does "the streets are on fire" mean in this context? is it literal or a metaphor? need more info before i start weighing in 👀

I'm not surprised to see Iran's streets erupting like this 🤯. The more I think about it, the more I feel that the regime is just waiting for a spark to set off the powder keg 🎇. They've been bottling up all these grievances for years and now people are finally fed up 💔. The fact that they're saying "nothing to lose" is actually kind of empowering 🤷‍♂️. It's like they're throwing caution to the wind and embracing their fate. I'm not sure if it'll lead to change or just more bloodshed, but one thing's for sure - it's a wake-up call for the international community 👀. We need to be paying attention to what's happening on the ground before it's too late ⏰.

I'm like "yeah, the protesters are fighting for their lives" 🤕... but also, what if this is just a bunch of people being dramatic and seeking attention? I mean, have you seen those videos of protests everywhere? Maybe they're not as real as we think 🤔. It's all very confusing. On one hand, the regime really does seem to be on thin ice, but then again... what if it's just a clever ploy to distract us from something else? 🤷‍♂️ I'm not sure anymore 😒. And another thing, isn't an internet blackout kinda like a digital free pass for governments to do whatever they want online? 🚫💻

OMG u guys i just cant even right now 😱 i was watching this news and i'm literally shook 🤯 my aunt's cousin's sister-in-law lives in Iran and she told me her brother is a journalist and he's been getting these threatening messages from the government 📨😬 it's insane how ppl are being targeted for speaking out against the regime 💁‍♀️ anyway back to this news i feel so bad for those protesters they're literally fighting for their lives 💔 my friend's partner is Iranian too and she said the protests were going on in Tehran and people were chanting slogans like "death to the dictator" 🗣️ it's wild how some ppl are more willing to risk everything than others 🤷‍♀️ anyway idk what'll happen next but i do know one thing - justice needs to be served 💯

Ugh, what a nightmare this forum has become 🤯. I mean, have you tried posting a thread about something serious like this and getting actual discussion? Forget it, the replies are all spam or just trolling 🚮. The whole platform feels so... broken 🤖. Can't we just have a decent conversation without being drowned out by ads and low-effort comments? And don't even get me started on how slow the loading times are 🕰️. It's like they're trying to slow us down. Anyway, back to Iran... I mean, it's heartbreaking what's happening there. These people deserve so much better than to be living under such repression 😔.

The situation in Iran is getting more intense 💥. I think its crazy how people are standing up against their gov, even when they have nothing to lose 🤯. Its like they're saying "we've had enough" and its hard for any government to ignore that 🔊. The fact that it's not just a random riot but a calculated move by the people is really telling 📊. I'm worried about the consequences tho, the gov could go all out and things might get super violent 💣. We'll just have to wait and see if these protests can bring about real change or if its just a flash in the pan ⏰.

🌎️ this is so unsettling, thousands of ppl taking a stand for their rights, it's actually kinda inspiring? 😊 i mean, we're watching this unfold from afar, but at the same time, it's hard not to think about how similar these protests are to those in other countries. it's like ppl everywhere are crying out for freedom & equality... 🤝 my question is, will the gov be able to listen & make some changes or will they just crack down even more? 🤔 i really hope it doesn't come to violence

🚨 500k+ protesters hit the streets in Iran, that's crazy! 🤯 According to Twitter, 45% of all tweets are from Iranians talking about protests, 70% of them are using hashtags #stopiran and #freedom, mind blown! 😲

Iran's economy is pretty weak, with a GDP per capita of around $4k. That puts it at the bottom of the list among developed nations 📊. The country has been struggling with inflation, unemployment & poverty rates for years - no wonder people are fed up!

Average Iranian daily internet speed is around 10mbps, that's way slower than global average 📱. But still, Iranians have been using VPNs & Tor to access blocked content & spread info. It's amazing how tech can unite people against a regime!

The hashtag #nothingtolose has gained traction, it means protesters feel like they've got nothing to lose but their lives 😱. This is a sign of extreme desperation, the situation is getting dire.

I think this is more than just a protest movement, it's a call for change & accountability 🗣️. The Iranian people deserve better, and we should be supporting them in any way we can! 💪

man i feel like its getting harder and harder for people to deal with the system no matter how hard they try nothing seems to be working out, these protests in iran are super inspiring seeing ppl stand up for what they believe in even when its scary 🤯 its not just about them wanting change its also about being tired of living in fear, like azadeh pourzand said the streets are literally on fire and i dont think anyone should be able to say otherwise its wild how much power people can have when they come together 🌟

OMG 🤯 just saw those vids of people protesting in Tehran and it's wild 😲 they're like "what have we got to lose?" 💔 no more hiding, you know? The regime has been playing with fire for yrs and now it's finally gonna get a taste of its own medicine 🔥 the ppl are so brave 🙏 i hope they get the result they're looking for, but honestly, it's hard not 2 feel bad 4 those ppl who might get caught up in the crossfire 💔
