Mikie Sherrill is gonna be our new gov in NJ!
She won bigly with 56.7% of the vote
It's a major win for Dems and a good sign for their chances in the midterms
The party needed this boost after last year's presidential loss
Sherrill focused on affordability, taxes, and energy bills which must've resonated with voters
Her opponent Ciattarelli didn't capitalize on Trump's low approval ratings
Early voting played a big role in the outcome too
51% of early voters were Dems, while only 29% were Reps
Now Democrats can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they'll retain control
. Meanwhile, Ciattarelli was just stuck in his "I'm opposed to Trump" mode 
. The fact that Sherrill won so decisively among early voters is also super telling – it shows how much of an impact mail-in voting can have on the final outcome 
. All in all, this win has got me hyped for the midterms and beyond 
i mean she went up against a republican challenger who was all about opposing trump and it's not like that's gonna be a winning strategy for anyone rn 
ciattarelli thought he could ride the anti-trump wave but instead mikie just kinda... existed

. and tbh it's kinda crazy how much of a difference early voting made in this election
