A violent confrontation erupted at a St. Paul bar on Saturday night, leaving one man injured and sparking a tense standoff between him and the suspect.
According to police, the shooter entered the St. Paul Saloon on Hudson Road around 11:45 pm and opened fire on a patron, striking him in the leg. The victim, however, refused to back down, chasing the suspect outside before pulling out his own firearm and firing several shots in their direction.
Sgt. Toy Vixayvong, a police spokesperson, confirmed that officers responded quickly to the scene and applied tourniquets to the wounded man. He was later transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
The suspect's whereabouts remain unknown as of Monday morning, leaving authorities scrambling to find him. The motive behind the shooting is still unclear, although officials have noted that this incident marks the latest in a string of fatal shootings outside the bar in recent years.
In 2021, 20-year-old Raymond Renteria-Hobbs was killed outside the same venue; in 2019, 29-year-old Wayne Rodrick Brown lost his life to gunfire near the St. Paul Saloon. Tragically, this is not an isolated incident, as George Bensouda, a 33-year-old, fell victim to violence outside the bar in 2017.
As police continue their search for the suspect, questions remain about what sparked the violent confrontation and whether justice will be served in this latest case of gun violence.
