If geoengineering is ever deployed in a climate emergency, transparency is key | Ines Camilloni

I'm not holding my breath for this solar geoengineering thingy... it's just gonna be a bunch of rich countries playing with fire without anyone from the south getting a say. I mean, have you seen the research being done in those northern labs? It's all top-secret and exclusive to the global north crew. What about the people who are actually feeling the heat down there? We can't just expect them to stay silent while our northern buddies mess with the weather. And what's with this 'temporary reprieve' nonsense? Like, we're gonna save the world for a few decades before the whole thing implodes again? Sounds like a bunch of pie-in-the-sky thinking to me...

🌞 I'm so concerned about solar geoengineering right now 🤯 it's like trying to fix a broken umbrella with duct tape - temporary fixes at best. We need to focus on reducing our carbon emissions and transitioning to renewable energy ASAP ⚡️ those stratospheric aerosol injections sound super sketchy too ☁️ let's invest in sustainable tech that actually makes a difference, you know? 🌱

🌎 I'm really worried about climate change, you know? It's like, our planet is literally on fire and nobody seems to be doing anything about it 🚒. Solar geoengineering sounds like a crazy idea, but at the same time, we're running out of options, right? 💡 We need to make sure that everyone - especially people in the global south - are involved in this conversation and have a say in how it's done. It can't just be about the wealthy countries who are investing so much into this tech 🤝. We need transparency and accountability from the start or else we'll just be delaying the problem for some other group of people to deal with. 🌪️ Can we please make sure that everyone has a chance to share their thoughts and concerns on this?

🌎 gotta say, i'm both fascinated and terrified by this solar geoengineering idea 🤯. on one hand, it's like a silver bullet that might just save us from climate disaster, but on the other hand, it's a super complex tech with tons of unknowns ⚠️. we need more research, transparency, and international collaboration to make sure this doesn't become a geo-engineered disaster 🌪️. the global south has been getting screwed over enough already, so they gotta be at the table when it comes to decision-making 🤝. can't just let the wealthy nations dictate our climate fate 🙅‍♂️. transparency and equity have got to be the name of the game here 💡.

I'm so concerned about the lack of representation from the global south in solar geoengineering research 🌎💡. It's not just about fairness, it's about the devastating impact climate change is already having on those communities. Rising temps, extreme weather events... it's heartbreaking to think that they might be left behind in any attempt to "fix" things. We need more funding and research support for scientists from these regions, pronto! 🎯 It's not just about science, it's about people's lives and livelihoods. Can we please prioritize global transparency and inclusivity over all else? 🤝
