DJI’s Neo 2 selfie drone has LiDAR for obstacle avoidance

DJI Unveils Enhanced Neo 2 Selfie Drone with LiDAR and Gesture Controls

In a bid to elevate the selfie drone game, DJI has just announced its latest offering, the Neo 2. The upgraded model boasts several exciting features that promise to enhance user experience.

One of the standout features is the inclusion of LiDAR sensors for obstacle avoidance. This advanced technology pairs perfectly with downward-looking infrared sensors to ensure safe and smooth flight, even when following users during capture sessions. Although integrated guards protect the propellers, the new system provides additional peace of mind for pilots.

The Neo 2 also introduces gesture controls that will delight content creators looking to film dynamic selfie videos. Users can effortlessly adjust position and distance by moving their hands in various directions. This feature complements existing support for motion controllers and DJI's RC-N3 remote controller.

Another notable upgrade is the drone's increased speed, reaching nearly 27MPH - significantly faster than its predecessor. According to DJI, the Neo 2 can handle challenging weather conditions with ease, maintaining a stable hover in winds of up to 24MPH.

Battery life has also been improved, thanks to a larger 1606mAh rechargeable battery that provides up to 19 minutes of use per charge. This represents a notable increase over the original's range of 14-17 minutes. The camera has also seen an upgrade, featuring a dual-axis gimbal for enhanced stability and capturing 4K footage at high frame rates.

Interestingly, the Neo 2 boasts a higher storage capacity, with up to 49GB of internal memory compared to its predecessor's 22GB. However, this is offset by a slight increase in weight due to added components.

While availability of the Neo 2 remains limited to China for now, pricing seems relatively reasonable at $211 for US customers. Nevertheless, the market's response to wider releases will be crucial in determining DJI's long-term success with this product.

just got my hands on this new DJI Neo 2 selfie drone and I'm obsessed 😍! the LiDAR sensors are a total game-changer for safe flight and obstacle avoidance. I was getting a bit anxious about crashing it in mid-air but now I can focus on getting that perfect selfie 🤳♀️. the gesture controls are so cool, I feel like I'm in a sci-fi movie where my hands are the controller 🚀! plus, the 4K camera and dual-axis gimbal make it super easy to capture smooth footage. I just wish they'd made it slightly lighter, it's still a bit heavy for me to carry around 🤪. overall, though, this thing is a beast and I can already see myself using it to create some epic content 📸!

I'm loving the new features on the DJI Neo 2! 🤩 The LiDAR sensors and gesture controls are total game-changers for selfie drone enthusiasts. I can already imagine creating some epic content with that thing - just think of being able to capture smooth footage without having to worry about obstacles or manual adjustments. And at $211, it's a steal! 💸 But yeah, I do wish the weight was a bit lighter... gotta consider battery life and portability when you're out there flying around all day 🌞

🤩 I'm loving the new features on the DJI Neo 2! The LiDAR sensors are such a game-changer - it's so cool that you can avoid obstacles while flying and capturing those sick selfies 📸! Gesture controls sound like a total dream come true for content creators, and I love that the drone is now faster and more stable in windy conditions ⛷️. Battery life seems to have gotten a nice boost too, which is always a bonus 💻. What I'm most excited about though is the potential for this drone to take over the world of videography 📹 - those 4K footages are gonna be insane! But let's be real, it's not without its trade-offs... added weight and components don't sound like fun 🤯 still, all in all, DJI has really outdone themselves with this new release 👏.

The advent of AI-powered drones like the Neo 2 presents a fascinating intersection of technology and user experience. The integration of LiDAR sensors and gesture controls is a notable step forward in democratizing aerial capture, allowing for unprecedented levels of creative freedom 🤖. However, it's intriguing to consider how this increased accessibility might impact our collective relationship with these devices and the data they generate 📊. As we navigate the complex implications of autonomous flight, I'm eager to see how DJI and similar manufacturers will continue to balance innovation with responsible design practices 💻

I'm hyped about this new selfie drone lol. The LiDAR thingy sounds so cool! It's gonna make flying around me and my friends so much safer. I've seen those other drones crash into trees before, that was no fun. Gesture controls sound awesome too, can't wait to try it out with some mates. A 27MPH speed is pretty sweet too, hope the battery life holds up tho 🤞. Less storage space though, not a big deal for me tho. $211 seems like a fair price tho, fingers crossed DJI opens this thing up worldwide soon 💸

omg can't wait to get my hands on the new Neo 2 selfie drone 🤩 it sounds like dji has really upped their game with those gesture controls 💫 i mean who doesn't want to be able to fly around and pose for sick selfies without having to worry about holding a controller? 🙅‍♂️ also the fact that it can handle crazy weather conditions is super exciting ⛈️ fingers crossed it'll make its way over here soon tho

Omg what a game changer this drone is lol! LiDAR sensors are like something from sci-fi movies 🚀, and gesture controls sound so cool! I can already imagine creating sick selfie vids with my friends 🤩. The camera upgrade is also major key - 4K at high frame rates? That's next level, fam! 💥 But 49GB of storage space seems a bit steep for me... maybe they'll release more models later to make it more affordable? 🤔

I'm loving the idea of a selfie drone that can actually capture some amazing shots! The addition of LiDAR sensors is a game-changer - it's crazy how much safer and more controlled the flight experience must be now 🤩. And gesture controls? That's just genius 💡. I mean, who doesn't want to be able to adjust their drone's position with just a flick of the wrist?

But what really got me thinking is how this technology could be applied to other areas, like filmmaking or photography. The idea of being able to capture smooth, 4K footage while following someone in mid-air is just mind-blowing 🎥.

And let's not forget about the price - $211 might seem steep at first, but considering all the features and capabilities this drone has, it's actually pretty reasonable 💸. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one... 👀

I'm loving the tech that DJI is bringing to the table with their Neo 2 selfie drone! The addition of LiDAR sensors for obstacle avoidance is a total game-changer 🤖, it's like they've taken the safety and smoothness of flight to a whole new level. And let's be real, who doesn't want more control over their drone experience? Gesture controls are super cool, I can already imagine the sick selfie vids that people will be creating with this thing! 📸

But seriously, it's great to see DJI pushing the boundaries of what a selfie drone should be. With the Neo 2's increased speed and improved weather resistance, I'm confident that content creators will be able to capture some truly amazing footage 💨. And the camera upgrade? Yessss! A dual-axis gimbal is a total win for anyone looking to film high-quality 4K vids 📺.

My only concern is the weight of the drone, but I guess you have to pay a price for all that tech 🤔. Still, $211 seems like a pretty sweet deal for what you're getting. Fingers crossed that it makes its way out of China and into our hands soon! ⏰

🤔 I'm like, really hyped about this new drone from DJI but also kinda skeptical? 🚀 I mean, it's got all these fancy features like LiDAR and gesture controls that are supposed to make it way more user-friendly... but is it really necessary for most people? 🤷‍♂️ I'm not sure if I'd want to deal with learning new controls just to take a selfie drone pic. 😒 On the other hand, 4K footage at high frame rates sounds amazing and would be pretty cool for content creators... or is that just an excuse to spend more money on something that's already kinda pricey? 💸

idk why dji is still using 1606mAh battery... that's so outdated lol 😂. i mean, you're trying to make it a better selfie drone and then you stick with batteries that are almost as old as my phone 📱. they should have upgraded to something more modern like lithium-ion or something. and btw, 19 minutes of use isn't even that long... most other drones on the market can do at least 30+ minutes on a single charge 🤦‍♂️.

omg, can u believe how much they upgraded that selfie drone lol 🤯📸? LiDAR sensors and gesture controls are gonna take the game to a whole new level! i'm literally hyped for content creators now 😂🎥 the dual-axis gimbal on the camera is insane, 4K at high frame rates? 💥 that's some top-notch stuff, but 211 bucks is a bit steep for me 🤑 we'll just have to see how it performs in the market and if it lives up to its hype 😅

idk about dis new drone 🤔... i mean, liDAR sensors are cool and all, but is it really worth the extra price? $211 is still kinda steep for a selfie drone that needs to follow you around. plus, gesture controls sound like more hassle than they're worth 🙅‍♂️. and don't even get me started on how much bigger it is... didn't realize we needed more tech at the expense of portability 😒. what i really want to know is: will this drone just end up collecting dust in some fancy photobooth or is there a real use case for it? 📸

🤔 I'm not sure about these fancy drone features, but I do love how they're making them more user-friendly 📸. Gesture controls sound like a game-changer for content creators, and 4K footage at high frame rates is pretty cool 😎. But what's the point of all this tech if it just ends up collecting dust in some garage? 🤷‍♂️ We've got so many other things to worry about, and I'm not sure how much a drone can really add to our lives 💭. Still, I guess for people who actually want to use these things, DJI's done their homework 👍. And hey, at $211, it's not like it's breaking the bank 🤑. But let's be real, what's the best way to take a selfie? Is it with a drone or are you just going to stick with your phone 📱?

ooh I'm so stoked about the new Neo 2 selfie drone from DJI!!! 🚁💫 first of all, the LiDAR sensors are gonna make such a huge difference for safety and obstacle avoidance - it's like having an extra set of eyes up there! 😊 and gesture controls? game. changer. I mean who doesn't want to be able to capture sick selfies without having to physically move around the drone? 🤩 plus, the increased speed is insane - I can already imagine doing crazy stunts with this thing! 💥 and don't even get me started on the camera upgrade - 4K footage at high frame rates? yes please! 📹 I just hope it's available internationally soon so we can all experience the magic of the Neo 2 for ourselves... fingers crossed! 🤞

omg have you seen the specs on this new DJI drone 🤯 27MPH is insane! and the LiDAR tech is game changing for obstacle avoidance 💡 also, gesture controls are a total win for content creators 📸, can't wait to see some sick selfie vids with this thing 🎥

OMG I just tried that new ice cream flavor from that one place near my house 🍦😋 and it was LIFE.CHANGING. Like I know it sounds weird to talk about ice cream in the middle of a drone news thread, but trust me it's a game changer! And can we talk about how amazing LiDAR tech is? It's like something straight out of sci-fi movies 🚀💻

Ugh I'm so over these drone manufacturers thinking they can just slap some fancy tech on their products and expect us to drop a few hundred bucks like it's nothing 🤦‍♂️ I mean, $211 for a selfie drone? That's still way too expensive for what you get. And don't even get me started on the battery life - 19 minutes of use is barely enough to take a decent selfie, let alone do some actual flying around 🙄

And what's up with the weight increase? Like, I get that added components can weigh more, but come on guys, be more considerate of your customers' backpacks and purses 🎒. The gesture controls are cool, I guess, but it's not like it's going to make or break this product for me.

DJI needs to step up their game and focus on making these things more affordable and user-friendly before they start expecting people to shell out top dollar 💸.
