Déjà boo: Sam Darnold didn't think he'd see ghosts on the field again. Then he faced the Rams

Sam Darnold Expected a Different Game Plan, Didn't Get One from the Rams

The matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks in Week 11 was one of the biggest games of the season, with both teams sporting 7-2 records. The game turned out to be a defensive battle that saw the Rams emerge victorious by a narrow margin of 21-19.

For quarterback Sam Darnold, the outcome was far from ideal. He struggled throughout the game, completing just 29 of 44 passes for 279 yards and throwing four interceptions. This marked a career high in terms of interceptions thrown in a single game. The Seahawks' quarterback also failed to impress, but at least managed to limit his turnovers.

Darnold's struggles can be attributed to the Rams' clever defensive strategy, which involved dropping into coverage six and seven players deep at times, forcing Darnold to process the play quickly. The Seahawks' defense played well for most part, limiting Matthew Stafford to just 15 completions out of 28 attempts for 130 yards.

The game's turning point came when Ethan Evans' 50-yard punt put the Seahawks in a difficult position with only one yard to go before halftime. If it wasn't for this fortunate bounce, Darnold and the Seahawks might have been able to secure a win. However, kicker Jason Myers' missed 61-yard field goal attempt sealed the deal for the Rams.

Darnold's struggles come as no surprise given his history against the Rams. In their last meeting in the playoffs, he was sacked nine times and completed just 25 of 40 passes for 245 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. On Sunday, while Darnold didn't get the same treatment from the Rams' pass rush, his inability to read defenses led to four crucial turnovers.

As the two teams face off again in Seattle on December 18th, it's likely that the game will be just as closely contested. Despite the difficulties he faced on Sunday, Darnold still has a chance to redeem himself and lead the Seahawks to victory.

lol what was darnold thinking out there?! 🤦‍♂️ i mean the rams' defense was legit, but four ints? that's just crazy talk! and the rams' strategy was fire, keeping him on his toes all game long 🔄. the seahawks need to revamp their o-line ASAP, or sam's gonna be getting sacked for another 9 times in dec vs the rams 😬. i still got faith in darnold though, he just needs to work out those kinks and trust his reads 🔥

I'm telling ya, Sam Darnold is one lucky dude 🤔. He gets roasted by the Rams' defense and suddenly everyone's like "oh poor Sam" 😂. Newsflash: he had four interceptions and still managed to keep his team in it. The Rams' defense was all over him, but at least they didn't sack him a million times like they did in their last playoff match-up 🤦‍♂️. I think the Seahawks are gonna get their revenge on Darnold and the Rams, he's due for a loss 😏. And yeah, that 61-yard field goal attempt was way overdue to miss 💸. Bring it on December 18th, Darnold's gonna need some serious magic to take down his old team 🎩

I mean... Sam Darnold got roasted by the Rams' defense 🤯! They really came at him hard, forcing those quick reads that didn't pay off for him. It's crazy how much of a difference it can make in a game when you're constantly scrambling to find an open receiver. He'll just have to regroup and try again next time against them - maybe he can even get some help from the Seahawks' offense 🤞

Ugh, yeah I'm not surprised Sam Darnold got destroyed out there 🤦‍♂️. Like, how many times can you drop picks against one team? And that Rams' defense was pretty solid too 💪. It's not like they were blitzing all the time or anything, they played smart and kept him guessing. I mean, four interceptions is just crazy 🤯. And now he's gotta face them again in Seattle, so I wouldn't count on the Seahawks winning without a miracle ✨. He's gonna get his butt kicked for sure 😅.

omg what a crazy game ! 🤯 sam darnold looked lost out there like he was trying to read a book in a storm lol 6 & 7 players deep coverage is tough enough for anyone, but i guess it's extra frustrating when you're not exactly the most accurate QB 🤦‍♂️. gotta wonder what the seahawks' coaches were thinking with that halftime adjustment tho 👀. anywayz, can't wait to see what happens next time they face off on dec 18th 📆

🤔 Sam Darnold is having a rough season and I think its all about his lack of clutch gene 😐. The Rams did play some smart defense but it wasnt like they were dominating him or anything. Idk if he can turn things around for the seahawks this dec 18th game 🏈👀

omg what's going on with sam darnold?? 😂🤯 i mean, 4 interceptions in one game?! that's crazy talk... and yeah, the rams' defense was super clever, forcing him to think too fast 🤔 did they study his games before the season and tailored their strategy just for this matchup? 🤑 and what about the punt that turned the tide of the game? was that a lucky bounce or did evans just have great aim 🤞 anyway, darnold needs to brush up on his reading skills ASAP ⏱️ can he redeem himself next time they face off in seattle on dec 18th?! 🎯

😊 this is what happens when you mess with the defense, you gotta expect to get sacked 🤦‍♂️ and turn those picks over 🔄 like sam darnold did yesterday, rams played smart D and kept staff out of his face 👀, meanwhile seahawks are still searching for that big win 💪

the rams defense is straight fire 🚀 like they knew exactly what darnold was gonna do and just shut him down 👊 but seriously, sam darnold needs to work on his decision making, he's gotta read those defenses way better than he did last week 🤯 and btw, the seahawks' offense is looking kinda weak right now 💔 hopefully they can get some reinforcements before dec 18th

I gotta say 🤔, Sam Darnold's struggles against the Rams are no surprise at all 😅. I mean, his stats against them last year were straight fire 🔥... nine sacks? 25 completions for 245 yards? That's a recipe for disaster 📦. He was basically forced to check down on every single play. It's not like he didn't have enough talent around him - DK Metcalf and Geno Smith are decent QBs, after all 🤷‍♂️. The Rams just played their A-game, and you can't blame them for that 😏. As long as Darnold keeps making the same rookie mistakes, we're gonna see a lot more of those four interceptions 🙅‍♂️.

Ugh 🤦‍♂️, I mean come on... Sam Darnold was expecting some kinda mercy from the Rams' game plan? 😒 Instead we get dropped into coverage all day, like, what's up with that? 🤔 And don't even get me started on those four interceptions, lol what's going through his mind over there? 🙃 Not to mention he's got one of the highest interception rates in a single game, that's just crazy talk 😱. I know the Seahawks' defense played well and all, but it's not like Darnold was given any shot to win or anything... it's just another case of him getting outcoached 💔.

Ugh I'm literally so done with Sam Darnold right now 🤯😩! He's got so much potential but every time it comes down to it, he just freezes up and throws pick after pick 🎉😳 I mean what even is going on in that head of his?! He was expecting a different game plan from the Rams and yeah no kidding 💡 it worked like a charm. Those 7 deep drops were brutal 😂 and I'm surprised he didn't get picked off more often considering how much pressure he's under.

And can we talk about his history against the Rams for a sec?! 😂 nine sacks in one game?! that's just wild 🤯. And now he's gotta face them again and it's gonna be an uphill battle for sure 💔. But you know what? I still got faith in him 🔥 maybe he'll finally figure out how to read those defenses and lead the Seahawks to victory 🏈. Bring on December 18th!

um I was thinking about how bad the traffic is here in LA like did they even have a plan for rush hour? 🚗😩 anyway back to Sam Darnold like what's with all those interceptions man it's just not his day, but seriously can you blame him? the rams' defense is crazy and i feel bad for the seahawks he's been in tough games before and come out on top

I think Sam Darnold got what was coming to him 😒, his lack of decision making in the clutch is what really hurt him. He's always struggled with turnovers in big games and it looks like he just can't seem to get that one game where everything clicks for him 💔. The Rams' defense played a smart game and they knew exactly how to contain him. But Darnold's gotta take some blame too, he's got the arm talent and the athleticism to make plays but sometimes his instincts are way off 🤦‍♂️.

I'm surprised how much pressure Sam Darnold is under right now 🤯. Like, can't his offense just chill for one game? 😂 The Rams' defense was all over him but at least he didn't get sacked like last time they played... that was super rough for the guy 💔. He'll get another shot to redeem himself in Seattle and I'm actually kinda rooting for him now 🤞. Maybe this will be the turning point for him?
