Council pushing bill to give NYPD watchdogs real-time access to bodycam footage

🤝 I feel like this new law in NYC is a step in the right direction, you know? It's about time we have more clarity on what our cops are up to. Those 5-week response times are pretty sketchy, especially when it comes to complaints. Having the bodycam footage readily available for the public and civilian review agencies could lead to some serious accountability issues, which is super important. 📹 Of course, I get why some officers might be worried about this – they've got a job to do, right? – but ultimately, transparency is key to building trust between cops and the community. Maybe it's time for a rethink on how we police ourselves... 💡

omg yall i am literally hyped 🤩! this bill is gonna bring so much transparency to the NYPD's bodycam footage 📹, it's like we've been waiting for this forever!! i'm all about holding our cops accountable for their actions 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️. and can you even imagine how hard it was to get that footage in the first place? 85% of responses weren't even received within 5 weeks 🕰️?!?! no thanks, we need this bill ASAP 💨. i'm so down with Council Speaker Adrienne Adams 👏 on pushing for public transparency. and btw what's the PBA's beef? cops quitting because they can't handle a little scrutiny? 😂👀. let's get that hearing done and make sure our city is safe and transparent 🙌💪.
