Conor Bradley: Liverpool defender ruled out for season with knee injury

Liverpool defender Conor Bradley has been ruled out for the rest of the domestic season with a significant knee injury. The 22-year-old suffered the injury during Thursday's goalless Premier League draw at Arsenal when he landed awkwardly near the touchline while chasing the ball in stoppage time.

A bone and ligament damage was sustained, and Bradley will undergo surgery in the coming days. This means that the young full-back will miss Liverpool's upcoming play-off semi-final against Italy on March 26.

Bradley has been a key player for Liverpool since Trent Alexander-Arnold left for Real Madrid in the summer, starting 12 of their Premier League games this season. His injury is now a major blow to both his club and Northern Ireland, with whom he represents at international level.

Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli was widely criticized for pushing Bradley off the pitch while he was injured, sparking a melee between the two sets of players. The incident led to both players being yellow-carded by the referee. Martinelli later apologized for his actions on Instagram, saying that they were "absolutely disgraceful" and describing himself as an "idiot".

Former Manchester United players Gary Neville and Roy Keane also weighed in on the controversy, with Neville labeling Martinelli's behavior as "absolutely disgraceful".

Ugh, this is getting messy! πŸ€•πŸ˜‘ I'm so disappointed in Gabriel Martinelli's reaction after pushing Conor Bradley off the pitch. Like, what's wrong with him? πŸ™„ The kid was already hurt and he goes ahead and pushes him again... that's just disgusting! 😝 And now, both players get yellow cards? Are they kidding me?! πŸ˜‚ The worst part is that Martinelli apologized for his behavior on Instagram, but it feels like an afterthought. Where's the real remorse or accountability? πŸ€”

omg 😱 this is so sad for conor bradley he was doin so well 4 liverpool & northern ireland πŸ€• i feel bad 4 him, but what's even more upsetting is gabriel martinelli's behavior 🀯 like wut r u thinkin' man? push someone whos already down on the pitch? that's just rude and unfair 🚫 gotta respect the game & the players who r gettin hurt πŸ’” so yeah, martinelli's apology was pretty weak tbh πŸ™„ he shoulda owned up 2 it instead of sayin u were an "idiot" πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

ugh, just great. another talented young player getting hurt, and now they're blaming each other πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. like, come on Gabriel, you don't need to be a hockey enforcer to make an impact... or in this case, a yellow card πŸ˜’. seriously though, Bradley's injury is a huge blow for Liverpool & Northern Ireland, and that semi-final is gonna be pretty intense without him πŸ’”. can we just have one game without drama and injuries for once? πŸ™„

omg u wont belive wut happend 2 conor bradley! hes got a serious knee injurie & wont b able 2 play 4 lfc again 4 a wile...like, its such bad news 4 him & his team, espeshally now that they hav a big play off game comin up πŸ€•. & whats w/ gabe martinelli tho? he shudnt hv pushed conor off the pitch while hes was hurt!! thats just rude & uncalled 4. i mean, i no martinelli said sorry & all but i stil dont think its excusible 2 push some1 who cant defend him self πŸ˜’. Gary Neville & Roy Keane r pretty much rite tho...gabes behaviour wus totally unacceptable 🚫

This is a perfect example of how one wrong move can snowball into a bigger problem πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, think about it, Bradley gets injured and his team is already looking at him to make some crucial substitutions... and then this happens? It's like the world just isn't fair right now 😩. And let's be real, if Martinelli wasn't in that situation, probably wouldn't have reacted that way πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. It's a big learning curve for him, and we all know how hard it is to learn from our mistakes... but that's what they are, right? So here's the thing: we can always try to do better, be better. We can choose not to give in when things get tough πŸ’ͺ. The question is, will Martinelli take the lesson from this and move forward with a clearer head? Only time will tell πŸ•°οΈ... but one thing's for sure, it'll make him (and us) a stronger person in the end πŸ’―

Ugh, what a crazy game 😱. I'm really gonna miss seeing Conor Bradley out there on the pitch for Liverpool. He's been doing so well since Alexander-Arnold left and now he's gone for like 6 months? πŸ€•. And can we talk about Gabriel Martinelli for a second?! πŸ™„ what is wrong with that guy?! pushing someone when they're down and injured... like, seriously?! 😑. I don't think an apology on Instagram is gonna cut it this time. And now I've got to watch these play-off semi-finals without Bradley - Liverpool's gonna have to find a way to make it work 🀞. This just isn't fair βš½οΈπŸ˜”

omg u cant believe wat happnd 2 conor bradley lol he got injured so bad now he cant play 4 da rest of da season :( thats super disappointing 4 him & Liverpool. i feel bad 4 him, hes a young guy w/ his whole career ahead of him πŸ€•

so yeah, arsenal winger gabriel martinelli pushed conor off da pitch while he was injured & it was all super ugly 😑 i dont blame the ref 4 giving him a yellow card tho, u cant just push someone w/o consequence. martinelli apologized on instagram but idk if that makes up 4 what he did πŸ€”

anyway, conor's injury is def a major blow 2 da scottish lad & northern ireland team too πŸ’” i hope hes gonna b ok & get back 2 his game ASAP

omg this is so bad 😱 Gabriel Martinelli should've just let Conor Bradley be πŸ€• instead of pushing him off the pitch that was super reckless & reckless behaviour 🚫 and yeah 12 premier league games for conor bradley already this season is a huge loss πŸ™ˆ i feel bad for the young lad, his future is looking uncertain now πŸ’”

πŸ˜’ u guys gotta chill out! I mean, I get why ppl are upset about Gabriel Martinelli pushing Conor Bradley off the pitch when he was already hurt. But an apology and some words of regret from him is a good start. The fact that both players got yellow cards just adds to the drama πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. As for Gary Neville & Roy Keane, I'm not sure why they're weighing in so much... it's just a game, guys! Can't we all just take a deep breath and move on? πŸ˜… Conor Bradley's injury is a big blow to Liverpool & Northern Ireland, but let's not make this more complicated than it needs to be. πŸ’•
