Apple introduces a new Digital ID feature to make boarding flights easier

Apple has just made traveling a whole lot easier by introducing its new Digital ID feature, which allows users to store their US passports directly within the Wallet app. This means that travelers with a digital copy of their passport can now breeze through TSA checkout lines at airports without having to physically produce their passport.

For those who haven't yet upgraded to a Real ID, this is great news - no more hassle of carrying around a physical copy of your identification just to board a domestic flight. Apple's move has been long-awaited, given the frustration many people have experienced with the requirements for Real IDs.

This digital ID will be visible on both iPhones and Apple Watches, and TSA checkpoints across over 250 US-based airports will now support it. However, users traveling internationally still need their physical passports - this is a domestic flights-only feature.

Not all TSA readers are ready to scan these digital IDs just yet, according to TechCrunch. As such, travelers might want to bring along their paper passes for the time being to help Apple and the TSA get everything sorted out. The company's plans to expand this feature beyond air travel also make sense - businesses will soon be able to use these IDs for age verification purposes.

To store a passport digitally, users simply need to follow the prompts in the Wallet app, which involve taking a selfie and completing some facial recognition exercises for security. The wallet platform already accepts driver's licenses and state IDs, but only in 12 states and Puerto Rico - unfortunately, those won't be valid for flying under current Real ID rules.

In a nutshell, Apple's new Digital ID feature is another welcome innovation that's set to make traveling even more convenient and hassle-free.

πŸ™Œ I'm so hyped about this new digital ID feature on the Wallet app!!! πŸš€ It's like, finally! No more fumbling for your passport at security lines, especially when you're just trying to get to your gate on time πŸ•°οΈ. I mean, who needs a physical copy of their ID when they have an iPhone? 🀣 And it's not just domestic flights, this will make traveling so much easier for all us frequent flyers πŸ›«οΈ! Only thing is, still gotta bring paper passes to TSA checkpoints until they get all the kinks out... but yeah, game. changer. πŸ‘

omg, I'm so glad they finally did this πŸ™Œ. I mean, who needs to carry around their passport when you've got the Wallet app, right? but seriously, it's about time Apple stepped up and made travel a bit easier for us. I was starting to think they were just going to leave us stuck with our physical passports forever πŸ˜’.

and btw, isn't this just another example of how we're all just a bunch of digital sheep following the herd? I mean, we're all just waiting around for companies like Apple to solve our problems and make life easier for us πŸ™ƒ. not that I'm complaining or anything...

πŸ€£πŸ‘€ TSA's gonna be so extra trying to figure out this new digital ID thing πŸ™„πŸ’» meanwhile, Apple just saved the world from physical passport struggles πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸš« International travel still needs a real passport tho... guess that's one less thing to worry about πŸ™ƒ

You know what really got me thinking about this digital ID thing? It's how our perception of identity changes when it's stored on a device we carry with us all the time πŸ€”... I mean, think about it, we're already putting so much of ourselves online, it's only natural that we start to store our physical identities in the same place. But what does that say about the nature of self, when our entire life is reduced to a series of digital bytes? And then there's this notion of security - facial recognition exercises, digital passports... are we sacrificing some level of human interaction and vulnerability for the sake of convenience? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

OMG, this is so cool!!! 🀩 I mean, can you imagine not having to rummage through your bag for your passport at airport security? It's like something out of a sci-fi movie! πŸš€ But seriously, it's a game-changer for domestic flights and businesses too. I'm all about making travel more convenient, especially when you're short on time or have a lot on your mind. The fact that this feature will make traveling even easier is just, like, yay!!! 😊 And I love how Apple is working with the TSA to get everything sorted out, no drama! πŸ’―

🀩 this is so cool! having your passport on your phone is literally the future of travel - no more digging around for your wallet or waiting in line with all those annoying passengers trying to sneak a snack πŸΏπŸ‘€ but what's next? are they gonna let us use our phones to check into hotels too? like, can you imagine just scanning your ID and having it all sorted out? πŸ€” sounds like a dream come true! πŸ‘

omg, finally! no more rummaging through my backpack for that pesky passport πŸ™„... i mean, it's about time someone made air travel less of a pain in the butt πŸ˜‚. but hey, let's not get ahead of ourselves - we still gotta deal with those outdated TSA scanners that can't even handle digital IDs yet πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. and what's up with the 12 states and puerto rico thing? like, why do i need to carry around another form of ID just because my state isn't on the list? πŸ™„ still, i guess this is a step in the right direction... now if only they'd make my iphone case waterproof so i can travel with peace of mind πŸ’¦.

I'm so stoked about this new Digital ID feature from Apple 🀩! It's gonna save so many people some serious stress when flying domestically. I mean, can you imagine not having to dig through your bag for that pesky passport? Genius! And it's great that they're making it visible on both iPhones and Apple Watches, too πŸ“±πŸ’».

I do hope the TSA gets their scanners up to speed soon, tho πŸ˜’. It's kinda annoying that we need to bring our paper passes along with them, but I guess it's a small price to pay for innovation like this. And yay! They're planning to use these IDs for age verification in businesses too - that's just the icing on the cake 🍰.

I'm all about making travel easier and more efficient, and Apple is really killing it right now πŸ’ͺ. Can't wait to see where they take this feature next!

πŸ™ I've seen so many people stressing about their passports before flights now this digital ID thingy is gonna save us all a ton of time & hassle πŸ•’οΈ - no more waiting in long lines or having to take out your wallet at security checkpoints! πŸ‘ And it's not just for domestic flights, either... who knows maybe they'll add international travel next? 🀞 Still, gotta be aware that some TSA machines ain't ready yet so you might wanna bring your real ID along with the digital one as a precaution πŸ›‚οΈ. Overall, Apple's done it again - simplified our lives even more! 😊

I'm so stoked about this new feature 🀩! I mean, who needs to carry around their passport when you can just store it digitally? It's literally a game-changer for travelers. And the fact that TSA checkpoints are going to support this is amazing - no more hassle of showing your ID every time you fly. The only thing I'd say is that Apple should make sure everyone in the US has access to digital IDs, not just those with Real IDs or driver's licenses. Maybe they could also work on getting it sorted out for international travel too? But overall, this is a huge win πŸŽ‰!

omg can u believe apple just made traveling soooo much easier with this digital id feature 🀩 i mean i've had to deal with those tsa lines before and it's always a pain, but now travelers with a digital copy of their passport can just walk right in without having to carry around that physical one lol. i think this is gonna be a game changer for domestic flights πŸ›«οΈ. though, i wonder when they'll expand this feature internationally... and what about the tsa readers not being ready yet? will we have to bring our paper passes too πŸ˜‚. anyhoo, this is def a welcome innovation from apple πŸ‘

OMG 🀯 can you even imagine not having to take off your sneakers and dig through your bag for your passport at security? πŸ˜‚ this is like, total game changer for me! i was getting so sick of dealing with all the hassle of real IDs and physical copies... now i can just walk up to that TSA line and show them my digital ID on my phone πŸ“± it's gonna be a total lifesaver for domestic flights. still not sure about international travel tho πŸ€” gotta stay safe, right? but for domestic flights, this is like the future of travel already πŸš€ can't wait to see this expand beyond air travel too... businesses are gonna love being able to use these IDs for age verification and all that jazz πŸ’Έ

omg, can u believe they're making traveling even easier? no more stressing about finding your passport at the airport 🀯, just store it digitally in your wallet app and you're good to go! 😎 i mean, its a game changer for domestic flights only tho, but still super awesome that tsa is getting on board πŸ’Ό. also, i love how businesses are gonna use these IDs for age verification, like, so cool πŸ€–. the fact that they had to do all this cuz of those real id requirements is wild, but whatever πŸ™ƒ

I'm low-key glad they're doing this but at the same time I'm thinking like what's the real motive here? Are they trying to get us used to relying on tech for our IDs or something? I mean, think about it - if you need a digital ID to fly domestically, that means the government could just revoke your passport and say "oh well, you don't have one now". It's all about control, fam πŸ€‘. And what about the 12 states and Puerto Rico where digital IDs aren't available yet? Is Apple just trying to push their Wallet app more or is there something fishy going on? I don't know, but my gut's telling me this isn't as pure as it seems πŸ˜’.

πŸ€” This is actually kinda awesome! No more digging through your bag or worrying about lost passports at the airport. The fact that it's already live for domestic flights is a great start, but it would've been nice if international travel was included from day one. Still, it's a big step forward and I'm sure businesses will appreciate being able to use these digital IDs for age verification purposes too! πŸ‘

omg how about that?! finally some sense from the tech giants 🀩 I remember when we had to deal with those long lines at the airport just because we didn't have our passports ready... it's like they're playing catch up πŸ˜‚ but seriously, this digital ID thing is a game changer. I mean who doesn't love convenience right? and it's not just about traveling - I can see businesses using these IDs for age verification in no time πŸ€‘. one minor concern tho, what if the tech isn't ready yet? we need those paper passes still πŸ“

I'm so stoked about this new feature from Apple 🀩! I mean, who hasn't been stuck waiting in line at the airport because they couldn't find their passport? It's crazy how much of a pain that can be. And now, with Digital ID, it's like they're making travel even easier for everyone ✈️. Plus, it's just one less thing to carry around when you're on the go, which is always a win in my book πŸ™Œ. I'm curious though, how long will it take for all the TSA readers to catch up with this new feature? Hopefully not too much longer πŸ˜….

OMG, this is sooo cool! 🀩 I'm literally hyped about not having to carry around my physical passport when flying domestically anymore! πŸ›«οΈ It's like the TSA finally caught up with Apple, haha! And yeah, it's a game-changer for people who don't have Real IDs yet, no more hassle! πŸ™Œ But what's up with international flights though? Can't we just have digital passports everywhere? πŸ€” Still, this is a great move by Apple and the TSA, can't wait to see how it all works out in practice! πŸ’»
