Ann Arbor Folk Fest announces new format, partial lineup for 2026 - Detroit Metro Times

Ann Arbor Folk Festival Ditches Tradition for a Fresh Lineup.

In an effort to revamp its format, the Ann Arbor Folk Festival is taking a bold step away from its classic two-night schedule at Hill Auditorium. This time around, the event will kick off with a full concert by the headlining artist on Friday, January 30th, followed by the traditional lineup on Saturday, January 31st.

According to the festival organizers, this new format was inspired by audience feedback, suggesting that fans are eager for a change of pace. The only detail revealed so far is that the Friday night headliner will be announced on November 17th.

However, excitement can already be generated with the announcement of Saturday's lineup, featuring an eclectic mix of talented artists from across the country and beyond. Grand Rapids indie rock band the Crane Wives, Philadelphia singer-songwriter Amos Lee, Los Angeles folk rock band Dawes, Uganda-via-Texas act Jon Muq, University of Michigan student Nat Timmerman (performing as Rabbitology), and Massachusetts singer-songwriter Ryan Montbleau, who will serve as the festival's MC, are all set to take the stage.

While tickets for the festival have yet to go on sale, a rough estimate suggests that prices will range from $56.60 to $281.50. Fans can expect more information at theark.org and get their tickets through various channels when they become available.

so the Ann Arbor Folk Festival is ditching tradition, huh? I guess you could say it's a folk-astrophe πŸ˜‚. but seriously, changing up the format might just bring some fresh vibes to the festival scene. i mean, who doesn't love a good Friday night headliner to kick off the weekend? and with that eclectic lineup for Saturday, it's shaping up to be a wild ride! 🎸

OMG 🀩 I'm SO stoked about the new format for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival 😎! It's like, totally refreshing, you know? 🌱 I mean, who doesn't love a good headliner to kick off the weekend vibes? πŸ»πŸ’ƒ And the lineup on Saturday is just, wow! 🀯 I'm loving all the eclectic mix of artists - The Crane Wives, Amos Lee, Dawes... it's like, music heaven 🌊! 🎢 Can't wait for November 17th when the headliner is announced πŸ’₯! Also, $56.60 to $281.50? Um, yeah, that's a bit steep for me πŸ€‘ but I guess it'll be worth it for an epic festival experience πŸŽ‰!

I'm so stoked about this new format! I mean, who doesn't love a good headliner concert to kick off the festival? It's gonna be lit πŸ’₯. And I'm loving the mix of artists on Saturday's lineup - it's like a ultimate folk rock fest 🀘. But I gotta say, $281.50 is a bit steep for me... maybe they'll offer some affordable tix or something? Anyway, can't wait to see what the Friday headliner is πŸŽ‰. And props to the organizers for listening to fan feedback and shaking things up! πŸ‘

I'm so down for this change in format! A full concert by the headliner on Friday night is gonna be lit 😎. I love how the festival organizers are listening to audience feedback and making changes to keep things fresh. The lineup for Saturday looks amazing too - can't wait to see the Crane Wives and Amos Lee perform 🀩. The whole vibe of the festival just seems more relaxed now, you know? No rush to get everything over with in two nights... looking forward to a chiller experience πŸ’.

🀯 Just saw the news about Ann Arbor Folk Festival changing up its format! 🎡 So, I did a quick analysis of past attendance numbers... πŸ’‘ In 2022, the festival drew around 35k people over two nights at Hill Auditorium, with an average daily attendance of 17.5k. Fast forward to this year's lineup, and assuming similar sales momentum, let's say they'll hit 40-45k attendees. That's still a great number, considering inflation rates πŸ“ˆ. And on the revenue side... πŸ€‘ if we assume all tickets are sold at the estimated range of $56.60 to $281.50, that's a gross revenue of around $11.5M - $13.2M. Not bad for one weekend! πŸ€‘

OMG, I'm super hyped for this year's Ann Arbor Folk Festival 🀩! Ditching the classic two-night schedule is a great move, it'll be so refreshing to have a full concert on Friday night instead of just a short set. I love how they're listening to audience feedback and trying to give the fans what they want. The lineup looks amazing too, can't wait to see Jon Muq live! 🀘 Ticket prices seem a bit steep tho, hope they go on sale soon so we can grab ours! πŸ’Έ

I'm loving this new twist on the Ann Arbor Folk Festival 🀩! I mean, who doesn't love a good headliner show to kick off the weekend? It's like they're saying, "Hey, we heard you want something different, so let's give it a try!" And honestly, it sounds like a great way to shake things up and make the festival feel more dynamic. Plus, I'm all about that Saturday lineup – who wouldn't want to see Dawes, Amos Lee, and Ryan Montbleau in one night? 🎸 It's going to be a real treat for fans of folk rock. One thing I'd love to see is some more information on the Friday headliner – November 17th is, like, forever away! πŸ˜‰

This is gonna be so cool! 🀩 I love that the festival is shaking things up and trying new stuff out. The Friday night headliner is a great twist, gives people something to look forward to before the weekend festivities on Saturday. And the lineup for Sat looks amazing too! I'm hyped to see some of these artists live 😊. Only thing that's got me wondering is if this new format will work... but honestly who cares? It's gonna be a blast and I'm all in πŸŽ‰

omg i'm kinda surprised they're changing things up, i've always loved the old format πŸ€”. i mean, who doesn't love a good 2-night folk fest, right? 🎸 but hey, if the fans are asking for it, i guess it's about time they gave us something new... and from what i can tell so far, the lineup looks pretty awesome! that crane wives girl is gonna bring the noise πŸ˜‚ and amos lee is one of my faves. fingers crossed those tickets go on sale soon tho, i'm already itching to get mine 🎟️

so its like they're trying to keep things fresh but im not sure i buy it...i mean, why change a classic two-night schedule that has been doing the trick for years? just because some fans are looking for something new doesn't mean we need to completely overhaul the whole thing πŸ€”. and what about all the artists who have been playing that same old format for years? now they gotta adjust too? sounds like a lot of work to me...any info on how this new format is gonna affect attendance and ticket prices tho?

Ugh, festivals are just gonna keep getting more expensive πŸ€‘... I mean who needs that kind of cash? Prices already goin up like crazy, it's just another thing for people to stress about before a weekend of supposed fun 😩.

πŸŽ‰ I'm loving this new direction for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival! It's great to see them shaking things up and listening to what fans want. Having a headlining artist on Friday night is gonna bring some serious energy to the event, and then you get the traditional lineup on Saturday with all these talented artists... it's gonna be a wild ride! 🀯 I'm also super excited for Ryan Montbleau to be the festival MC - he's got such a great voice. The prices might seem steep, but trust me, it'll be worth it! 🎟️

This new format sounds like a total game-changer for the festival 🀯! I'm so down for a headlining artist taking center stage on Friday, it's gonna be lit πŸ’₯. And can we talk about how stoked I am to see the lineup on Saturday? The mix of indie rock, folk, and singer-songwriters is giving me all the feels 🎢. I've been following Amos Lee for years, so I'm super hyped he's making a appearance πŸ™Œ. Also, it's awesome that they're including more local artists like Nat Timmerman - it's gonna be great to support up-and-coming talent in Ann Arbor πŸ“š. The prices might seem steep at first, but I'm willing to shell out the cash for this epic festival experience πŸ’Έ. Can't wait to get my tickets and rock out with all these talented artists! πŸŽ‰

Just had this news about the Ann Arbor Folk Festival and I gotta say it sounds like a total game changer 🀩! The idea of having a headlining artist kick off the festival with a full concert on Friday night is genius! I mean, who doesn't love a good opening act? It's gonna be so cool to see some talented artists like Amos Lee and Dawes performing live. And I'm all for shaking things up, especially if it means fans are getting excited about the event πŸŽ‰. The only thing that's got me slightly curious is what kind of changes we can expect from the Saturday lineup...

just saw this news about ann arbor folk fest and i gotta say, i'm all for shaking things up πŸ’₯🎢. i mean, who doesn't love a good surprise? πŸ€” gonna be interesting to see how the friday night show plays out with the headliner announcing in november πŸ“…πŸ’. also, can we talk about the lineup on saturday?! so many cool acts 🎸🌟, gotta get me those tickets when they go on sale πŸ›οΈπŸ’Έ [https://www.getyeoman.org/]

I'm not sure I love this new format for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival... I mean, it's a bit of a change for tradition, right? πŸ€” Still, if fans are asking for something different, maybe it's time to mix things up? The lineup looks pretty awesome though - I'm stoked to see some talented artists from all over. Dawes is one of my faves and Ryan Montbleau sounds like someone I'd really enjoy hearing live! 🎸

I'm down with this new format, but I gotta say, I miss the old-school vibe of having both nights together 😐. I mean, it's cool that they're listening to fan feedback and trying something fresh, but now it feels like we're getting two separate events rather than one big folk fest πŸŽ‰. Still super stoked to see some awesome artists like The Crane Wives and Amos Lee on the bill, though! And Ryan Montbleau as the MC? That's a great idea 🀩. Can't wait to see what the Friday night headliner brings – November 17th is gonna be a hot one πŸ”₯
