What’s going on in metro Detroit this week (Oct. 29-Nov. 4) - Detroit Metro Times

Metro Detroit is gearing up for a spooky week of festivities. Youmacon, the city's premier anime and pop culture convention, is celebrating its 20th year with thousands of attendees expected to flock to Huntington Place on October 30-31 and November 1-2. The highlight of the event will undoubtedly be the cosplay, as fans showcase their intricate and creative costumes.

For those who can't make it to Youmacon, other Halloween-themed events are worth checking out. A bar crawl is taking place on Friday and Saturday, where participants can enjoy drinks, food specials, and a professional photographer documenting the experience. Bookie's Bar & Grille will be the starting point of the crawl from 4-6 pm.

Ford's newly renovated Michigan Central Station is also hosting a family-friendly Halloween party, complete with "trunk-or-treating" outside, mask-making, face-painting, and live music by DJ Dez Andrés. While not specifically Halloween-themed, it offers a unique opportunity to experience the historic train station-turned-community hub.

On Halloween night, Insane Clown Posse will perform at Detroit's Masonic Temple as part of their 32nd annual Hallowicked show. The event promises surprise guests and a live stream on veeps.com for those who can't attend in person.

For a more low-key celebration, Northern Lights Lounge is hosting a DJ night featuring Marcellus Pittman and other local artists. While not specifically Halloween-themed, the event offers an opportunity to dance the night away with friends dressed up in costume.

omg i'm so down for some halloween shenanigans this year 🎃🕷️ i love how detroit is gettin all out with events and parties 🤩 from youmacon's cosplay extravaganza to michigan central station's family-friendly party, there's somethin for everyone 🎉. and ofc, who can resist a good insane clown posse performance? 🤪 i'm thinkin about headin to bookie's bar & grille for that bar crawl tho, sounds like a blast with the photographer and all 😄 northern lights lounge's dj night is also lookin like a sick vibe 👍 gotta check out marcellus pittman and other local artists 🎶

I'm totally not down with all this big fuss over Youmacon 🤪. Like, who needs thousands of people in one place, right? It's just gonna be a crowded and noisy mess... for 4 days straight 😒. And don't even get me started on the cosplay - it's just so... extra 💁‍♀️. Can't we just have a chill Halloween with our friends and family without all the frills and fanfare?

And what's up with all these events that are basically just an excuse to drink and eat too much food 🍴? A bar crawl sounds like a recipe for disaster, and the "professional photographer" is just gonna be some dude with a camera taking awkward pics of everyone having fun 😳. Give me a break!

I'd way rather go to the Northern Lights Lounge DJ night - at least that's a low-key celebration that I can actually get behind 🎉. No crowds, no noise, and just good vibes... now that's how you celebrate Halloween 👻

nother option r u's looking for a chill night out? northern lights lounge has got u covered with a dj night featuring marcellus pittman 🎶👍 u can dance the night away w friends dressed up 2 impress

I think it's awesome that Metro Detroit is celebrating Halloween in such a fun way 🎃. Youmacon always seems like so much work for those who attend, but it sounds like all the hard work will pay off with their 20th anniversary party! I'd love to check out the bar crawl with professional photos taken – what a great way to capture memories of the night 😂. And that family-friendly Halloween party at Michigan Central Station sounds like so much fun for families with little ones, especially with all the activities and live music 🎶. Insane Clown Posse is always a highlight on Halloween night, too! 🤪 Can't wait to see how it goes down at Masonic Temple this year 💥

Ugh, what's the point of even celebrating Halloween when you got a global food crisis looming over us 🍴😩? Like, can't we have some good news for once? But nope, let's just focus on all the anime and pop culture events happening in Metro Detroit instead. Thousands of people are gonna be cosplaying and partying like there's no tomorrow... meanwhile, our planet is literally burning 🔥🌡️. And did you know that Ford's new Michigan Central Station is having a family-friendly Halloween party? Just great, more opportunities for families to have fun while we're all stuck with climate change 🤷‍♀️😒

Yooo, I'm so hyped for Youmacon this year! They're gonna have cosplayers rocking their A-game and it's gonna be lit 🤩👗 20 years of anime and pop culture festivities is a big deal and I love how they're keeping things family-friendly too. I wish I could check out the bar crawl, that sounds like so much fun with professional photography and all 😂. And Insane Clown Posse's Hallowicked show at the Masonic Temple? That's gonna be EPIC! 🎃️ DJ Dez Andrés is always a great addition to any party. But for a chill night out, Northern Lights Lounge's DJ night sounds like the perfect spot to get your costume party started 💃🏻🕺
