Weather tracker: Kosovo floods trap people in homes and cut water supplies

Kosovo Floods: Thousands Trapped as Rivers Swell

torrential rainfall has left parts of Kosovo in a state of emergency, with widespread flooding forcing thousands to take shelter in their homes. Emergency services are scrambling to rescue those stranded by the rising waters, which have also crippled water and electricity supplies across several municipalities.

Data from personal weather stations shows that the south-west region of the country recorded over 50mm of rain within just 24 hours, with some areas receiving even more - up to 80mm in the Malisheva municipality. This follows heavy rainfall that began on Saturday, which saw Junik and Gllogjan record 231.5mm and 151.6mm of rain respectively in the west of the country.

The floodwaters have caused landslips and further exacerbated the situation, leaving communities isolated and vulnerable to the elements. As a result, water supplies have been cut off in several areas, including Drenas, Malisheva, and Rahovec municipalities, where floodwater has entered electrical substations.

Meanwhile, across the Channel, Storm Goretti is bringing severe winds to England and France. The UK Met Office has issued a red warning for Cornwall and the Scilly Isles, with gusts reaching up to 100mph in some areas. Coastal flooding warnings have also been issued for north-western France, where storm surges of up to 1.5m are predicted.

As Storm Goretti continues its eastward trajectory into mainland Europe, severe winds will ease somewhat but blizzard conditions and significant snowfall are forecast across Germany and the Benelux region.

can you blame them for being caught off guard? i mean, that kinda torrential rainfall is not exactly common in kosovo lol... ๐ŸŒช๏ธ it's like the weather decided to have a wild day and just went haywire. and then there's storm goretti across the channel, no wonder they're getting slammed with winds and flooding too... ๐Ÿคฏ at least the uk met office is being super clear about what's gonna happen. anyway, gotta feel for those people stuck in kosovo, hope they get the help they need ASAP ๐Ÿ’•

omg have u ever been to a festival that was literally ruined by bad weather? like i remember this one time in berlin they had this massive outdoor rave party and it poured rain like crazy... we're talkin' umbrellas blowin away, ponchos on every1, the whole shebang. but u know what? people just kept dancin anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚, even though the sound was gettin all muffled by the rain. pretty cool, right? so yeah, floodin in kosovo is no joke... hope they get it sorted out ๐Ÿคž

omg this is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ thousands of ppl stuck in their homes like wat r they gonna do?? ๐Ÿ™ i feel 4 them, it's so sad & scary at the same time ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ how can sum1 predict when & where the floods will happen tho? ๐Ÿค” u think its just bad luck or whats goin on with the weather that makes these events hapen? ๐ŸŒช๏ธ also wat about those people affected by storm goretti in england & france? ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ’จ is every1 safe? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I was just reading about a new indie film festival in Berlin ๐ŸŽฅ and how they're really focusing on showcasing emerging artists from all over Europe... you know, I saw this amazing street art mural in Kreuzberg last month that totally caught my eye - it was so vibrant and colorful! ๐Ÿ˜Š I'm thinking of planning a trip there soon with some friends. Have you ever been to Germany? We should def go together and check out the film festival ๐ŸŽฌ

Floods in Kosovo got me thinking about how we're all just one storm away from our own personal wilderness ๐ŸŒช๏ธ๐Ÿ’ง... I mean, imagine waking up to your home being underwater, with no electricity or water... it's like a real-life survival story! And then there's the aftermath - when the waters recede, you're left dealing with the mess and trauma of it all. It's like, we think we're in control of our lives, but Mother Nature's got other plans ๐Ÿ˜ฌ... Anyway, hope everyone in Kosovo stays safe ๐Ÿคž

I was just thinking about that really cool coffee shop I went to last weekend in NYC... you know, the one with the secret menu? ๐Ÿคฏ Anyway, back to this Kosovo flooding news... seriously though, 80mm of rain in like, what, a day? That's crazy! You think they've got some sorta underground bunker or something in there to keep people safe from all that water? And omg have you ever tried coffee with a hint of hazelnut? It's life-changing ๐Ÿต๐Ÿ’ฅ

Ugh my heart goes out to those trapped in Kosovo ๐Ÿค•! This is just devastating, so many people affected by the floodwaters... I can only imagine how scary it must be for them ๐ŸŒŠ. And to think the rain was just coming down all Saturday too, no wonder things got so bad. The pictures of that Malisheva municipality with over 80mm of rain are just horrific, water everywhere ๐Ÿ˜ฉ.

And then there's this other storm in England and France ๐ŸŒ€... at least they're getting some warning for it, but I feel for those people who have to deal with the aftermath. Blizzard conditions and snowfall? Yikes โ„๏ธ! Hope everyone stays safe through all this weather chaos โš ๏ธ. Just when you think it's not your turn for bad weather... ๐Ÿ˜…

Ugh, can't believe what's happening in Kosovo right now... ๐Ÿ˜ž Thousands of people stuck in their homes because of these crazy floods! I mean, 50mm of rain in just one day is insane... how's that even possible? ๐Ÿคฏ It's like the sky opened up and poured all its water down on them. And to make matters worse, it's causing landslides and disrupting everything else. I feel so bad for the people who are dealing with this. It's like they're stuck in a scene from The X-Files โ€“ "They all float down here" ๐ŸŒŠ

But, you know what's even more crazy? Storm Goretti over in Europe is doing its own thing... ๐Ÿ˜ณ 100mph gusts and blizzard conditions? That's wild! I love how the news is covering both situations at once. It's like they're saying, "Hey, let's talk about the floods in Kosovo while also warning you about a massive storm brewing across the continent." ๐ŸŒช๏ธ

This is so crazy! ๐Ÿคฏ Thousands of ppl stuck in their homes cuz of flooding, it's like a nightmare come true ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I mean, 80mm of rain in just one day? That's insane! ๐Ÿ’ฅ And to make matters worse, some areas are gettin' up to 100mph winds across the Channel... that's straight-up intense โ›ˆ๏ธ. Can't believe they're still havin' water cuts off in some places too... like, isn't that basic? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ At least it's not as bad as some other natural disasters we've seen recently, but still... just so many ppl affected by this one storm โ˜”๏ธ

Ugh, this just gives me chills ๐Ÿค• thinking about all those people stuck in their homes without electricity or water ๐Ÿšง๐Ÿ’ฆ and I'm just over here like "what even is Storm Goretti?" โ›ˆ๏ธ did u see the rain totals? 231.5mm in Junik? that's INSANE! ๐Ÿคฏ and now Germany and Benelux are getting hit too? blizzard conditions? snowfall? โ„๏ธ can't even... anyway, gotta send some love to all those ppl stuck in Kosovo ๐Ÿ’• hope the emergency services get them out soon ๐Ÿ’ช

I'm totally gutted for those people stuck in Kosovo ๐Ÿค•. It's crazy to think how quickly the situation can escalate with heavy rainfall. Like, 50mm of rain in just 24 hours is insane! โ„๏ธ The thought of being trapped in flooded homes with no access to water or electricity is, well, super scary ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

I'm also a bit worried about those in Europe who are getting hit by Storm Goretti ๐ŸŒช๏ธ. Coastal flooding warnings in France and the UK sounds like a nightmare for people living near the coast ๐Ÿ . I hope everyone stays safe and dry! โ˜๏ธ The weather forecast is always so unpredictable, it's like trying to guess what your future will hold ๐Ÿ”ฎ.

It just goes to show that nature can be really brutal sometimes, but we're also super lucky to have amazing rescue teams and emergency services working hard to keep people safe ๐Ÿ’ช. Let's all just hope the floods in Kosovo subside soon and everyone gets back on their feet ๐Ÿคž

Ugh, this is like something from a video game ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, 80mm of rain in just one day? That's insane! And to think thousands of people are stuck at home because of it ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I've lived here all my life and I've never seen anything like this. The thought of those floodwaters covering whole streets and homes is just... wow ๐Ÿ˜ฎ.

And the worst part is, the rain isn't even done yet! It's like Mother Nature is trying to give us a show ๐ŸŒช๏ธ. I'm just glad that no one has reported any serious injuries or deaths so far ๐Ÿ‘. Still, this is definitely something that'll be remembered for a long time.

You know, when it rains like this, you realize how fast the rivers can swell up โ›ˆ๏ธ. It's like they're trying to wash away everything in their path ๐ŸŒŠ. I just hope the emergency services are able to get everyone to safety without too much trouble ๐Ÿ’ช.

This reminds me of all those movies where a big storm hits and the characters have to batten down the hatches โšก๏ธ. You know, like The Day After Tomorrow or something like that โ„๏ธ. Yeah, this is definitely one for the books ๐Ÿ“š!

๐ŸŒช๏ธ omg this is crazy! like, I was just watching this show "Stranger Things" and it reminded me of this flood scene in season 2... anyway, back to kosovo ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ so seriously thousands of people are trapped and emergency services are struggling to reach them... the rain is insane here too, i checked the weather app on my phone and it said over 50mm in just 24 hours ๐Ÿ˜ฒ that's like, what's the point of even having a weather forecast if you're gonna get that much rain?! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ and now there are landslides and power cuts... it's like, nature is being super dramatic right now ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Ugh, this is so sad! I just saw that video of people stuck in their homes with floodwaters everywhere ๐Ÿคฏ. It's like, can't we get some decent weather for once? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Kosovo is not even a well-known place, but it's clearly hit hard by these floods. And to make matters worse, the electricity and water supplies are all out... that's just brutal ๐Ÿ’”. I mean, I've seen storms on TV before, but this one sounds really intense. Storm Goretti in Europe too? That's crazy! ๐ŸŒช๏ธ At least they're warning people about it now, so hopefully everyone can stay safe.

Man, this Kosovo floods situation is just devastating ๐ŸŒช๏ธ. Thousands of people stuck in their homes with no electricity or water supply... it's crazy. I'm watching the videos and it looks like a war zone out there ๐Ÿ˜จ. The data shows they got hit with over 50mm of rain in just 24 hours, that's insane! And now the floodwaters are causing landslips and isolating communities even further ๐ŸŒŠ.

I can imagine how tough this must be for the people living there, it's not just the floods themselves but also the power outages and lack of basic necessities. Hopefully, the emergency services are doing their best to rescue those trapped and restore essential services ASAP ๐Ÿ’ช.

But you know, it's funny... while they're dealing with this disaster back in Kosovo, we've got Storm Goretti wreaking havoc across Europe ๐ŸŒˆ. I mean, I feel bad for everyone affected by these storms, but it just goes to show how unpredictable the weather can be around the world โ›ˆ๏ธ.

omg this is crazy! ๐Ÿ’ฅ i cant even imagine living in an area with that much flooding it's like something out of a movie. i feel for all those people stuck in their homes and not being able to get help. ๐Ÿค• and now there are landslips and cut off water supplies too... it's just so devastating. ๐ŸŒช๏ธ the fact that another storm is coming from over sea makes me even more worried. ๐ŸŒŠ what do u think we can do to help people in these areas? should governments be doing more to prepare for extreme weather? ๐Ÿค”

๐ŸŒจ๏ธ I mean, can you imagine being stuck in your own home with no electricity or water? It's like, totally a life lesson right there - our basic needs are just so easily taken away from us. Like, we think we're safe in our own homes, but nature can be super unpredictable, ya know?

And the fact that it's not just the people directly affected by the flooding who are worried is wild. I mean, emergency services are scrambling to respond, and the whole community is feeling the impact. It's like, we're all connected, and what happens in one place can easily spill over into others.

I'm also thinking about how this relates to personal growth - sometimes life throws us curveballs, and it's up to us to adapt. Like, do we let the floodwaters take over, or do we find a way to rise above them? ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’ช

๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿšจ I'm thinking of a mind map for this news... Kosovo floods are really bad, thousands trapped in their homes โฐ. Water & electricity supplies cut off in several areas ๐Ÿ’ง. Storm Goretti is causing chaos across Europe ๐ŸŒŠ. England & France getting slammed with severe winds ๐Ÿคฏ. Germany & Benelux region expecting blizzard conditions โ„๏ธ.

If I were to draw a diagram, I'd have three main branches:

* Kosovo floods: thousands stuck in their homes ๐Ÿ
+ Water & electricity supplies cut off ๐Ÿ’ง
+ Landslips exacerbating the situation ๐ŸŒŠ
* Storm Goretti:
+ Severe winds in England & France ๐Ÿคฏ
+ Coastal flooding warnings for NW France ๐Ÿšจ
+ Blizzard conditions & snowfall in Germany & Benelux โ„๏ธ

It's crazy how these weather events are affecting so many people across Europe ๐ŸŒ.

Ugh I'm so sick of people always saying we need more rain to end droughts, it's like the whole world is obsessed with water ๐Ÿ’ง. Can't they see that too much of a good thing can be, well bad? ๐Ÿคฏ Kosovo is literally drowning right now and no one even thinks about the long-term consequences of all this extra rainfall. I mean what happens when the rivers keep overflowing? Where's everyone going to live then? ๐ŸŒณ The south-west region got over 50mm in just 24 hours, that's insane! And now they're dealing with landslips and cut water supplies... it's like they're already living on borrowed time โฐ.
