Vivek Ramaswamy’s bodyguard hit with federal drug trafficking charges over fentanyl and meth dealing allegations

Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate's Family Bodyguard Embroiled in Federal Drug Trafficking Scandal

A federal investigation has led to the arrest and charging of Justin Salsburey, a 43-year-old bodyguard employed by the family of Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Salsburey and his wife, Ruthann Rankin, were taken into custody last week after authorities discovered a stash of illicit substances at their home, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, MDMA, steroids, and nicotine pouches containing various controlled substances.

According to the US Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), postal inspectors in Columbus received information about Salsburey's alleged involvement with narcotics from the Logan County Ohio Sheriff's Office in November 2025. The agency subsequently tracked a series of suspicious packages sent to the couple's home, including parcels purchased using cryptocurrency often associated with darknet marketplaces.

In late November, USPIS intercepted a package bound for the couple's residence and discovered approximately 119 grams of counterfeit blue pills that tested positive for fentanyl. Over several months, investigators allowed multiple other suspected parcels containing drugs to be delivered to the home, where Salsburey and Rankin periodically left objects in a small cooler on their porch.

These objects would later be picked up by other individuals, including one who claimed to have purchased Adderall from the couple for $5 per pill. Authorities also found fentanyl, methamphetamine, and MDMA in the cooler, as well as various other controlled substances and steroids at the couple's home during a search warrant execution.

Rankin, who competes in bodybuilding competitions and posts videos of herself online, allegedly told authorities that Salsburey began selling steroids and eventually started selling other drugs. Both Salsburey and Rankin have been charged with federal offenses related to distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The arrest has sparked concern among Ramaswamy's supporters, who described the news as "disturbing" but emphasized that they will cooperate fully with authorities. The family bodyguard was removed from his security detail after being informed of the allegations, and all background checks conducted by the security firm were reportedly thorough.

OMG 🤯 this is soooo concerning! I mean, you're already worried about fake news and politicians involved in shady dealings, but when it's one of your own family members... it just feels wrong 😞. It's like, how does someone turn from a normal guy to a dealer? Was it stress, was it desperation, or was it just poor life choices? 🤔 I don't know, but the fact that they were selling stuff online and got caught because of a package tracking thingy is wild 🚚. The steroids and fentanyl are super serious, too - like, those can kill you in minutes 💀.

I'm not gonna lie, this just makes me wanna be more careful about what I buy from the internet 😅. If someone's selling Adderall for $5 a pop, it sounds like a legit scam 🤑. But at the same time, I feel bad for Justin and Ruthann - they're people too, you know? They must've been in some kinda trouble to end up like this 💔.

Anyway, I just hope the investigation goes well and that justice is served 🤞. And to Vivek's team... yeah, let's all just take a deep breath and focus on the issues at hand, 'kay? 😊

🙄 so great to see another gov candidate's personal life making headlines... like we didn't already know enough about our public figures' private lives. 💁‍♀️ anyway, who needs a family guy when you've got a bodyguard with a questionable side hustle? 😒 i mean, what's the saying, "you are only as good as your associates"? 🤷‍♂️

🤔 This is just so sad... a family man, a husband, a pillar to his community, and it turns out he's been involved in some serious shady stuff. I mean, who would've thought that the guy keeping you safe from harm could be peddling fentanyl and meth? It's like, what happened to him? Did life just get away from him or was this always part of his life? 🤕 And now we're left wondering if we should even trust the people we hire to protect us. The fact that he was selling steroids too is just icing on the cake... it's just so messed up. 😔

omg u gotta wonder wut kinda ppl r votin 4 this guy rn? i mean, i know we dont no enuf about vikrams campaign but it's pretty sus that his family bodyguard is in a federal drug trafficking scandal 🤯. like, what r they thinkin?! how can u be so reckless wiv substances on ur front porch? its wild 2 think thats the kinda ppl we trust w/ our governence 🙄. and now we gotta wonder if ramaswamy knew bout this or if he's just caught up in it 🤔. cant wait 2 c how dis plays out

🤔 Something just doesn't add up here... Salsburey's been a bodyguard for Ramaswamy's family for years, no problem, right? And then BAM! He gets busted for running an underground drug ring? 🚨 I'm not saying Vivek is involved or anything (although, let's be real, he's got a lot to lose if his campaign tanks), but this all feels like a setup. What's the motive here? Is Ramaswamy trying to get out of this scandal somehow? 🤑 The fact that Salsburey and his wife were allowed to continue sending packages with illicit substances to their home... it just reeks of coordination, you know? 😒 I'm not saying I believe in conspiracies or anything, but this is definitely fishy.

🤔 I'm not surprised to see a gubernatorial candidate's family being entangled in a scandal like this. It highlights how even those with seemingly respectable public personas can be hiding dark secrets. The use of cryptocurrency to purchase suspicious packages and the presence of controlled substances at their home raise serious questions about Salsburey and Rankin's judgment and accountability.

It's also worth noting that the fact that they were able to sell these illicit substances online without being detected is a stark reminder of the need for improved regulation in the digital marketplace. As we move forward, it will be interesting to see how Ramaswamy navigates this situation and whether his campaign is affected by the allegations against Salsburey.

On a more philosophical note, this incident serves as a poignant reminder that our public figures are not immune to the same pitfalls as the general population. It's a humbling reminder of the importance of due diligence in evaluating candidates for public office. 📊

This is just wild 🤯! A gubernatorial candidate's family bodyguard gets caught up in a major drug bust? I mean, what are the chances, right? 😂 It's like something out of a movie. But seriously, this is a huge headache for Ramaswamy's campaign and his supporters need to be held accountable for knowing about Salsburey's alleged activities and not saying anything 🤔.

And can we talk about how Salsburey and his wife were able to get away with selling all these illicit substances for months? It's like they thought they were above the law 🚫. The fact that they used cryptocurrency from darknet marketplaces to buy and sell their stash is just mind-blowing 🤯.

It's also worrying to think about how Ramaswamy's campaign was able to vouch for Salsburey without doing a deeper background check 🤷‍♂️. This whole thing is a major red flag for the entire campaign and it'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the coming weeks ⏰.

In any case, I hope these two get what's coming to them and face justice 💪.

I'm really not sure what to make of this whole thing... I mean, it's just another example of how some people are more worried about their reputation than doing the right thing. A bodyguard gets caught up in a drug trafficking scandal and suddenly he's out of a job? That's not exactly surprising, considering his involvement with illicit substances. And what really gets me is that this guy was hired to protect Vivek Ramaswamy, who's trying to be some kind of "leader" for the country... it just doesn't add up 🤔

I'm also thinking about how this whole thing came to light because of a US Postal Inspection Service investigation. I mean, can't people just use regular mail or something? Do they really need to resort to tracking packages from darknet marketplaces? It's just so much more convenient for the authorities to just swoop in and start investigating when someone gets caught up in a scandal like this... 🙄
