Port Orange Police Make Dramatic Arrest in New Smyrna Beach Shoplifting Incident

A dramatic video captured by body camera footage shows Port Orange police officers apprehending an alleged shoplifter in New Smyrna Beach. The arrest occurred on December 30, after authorities received reports of a man attempting to steal items.

According to eyewitness accounts, the officer gave chase as the suspect tried to flee on his bicycle. "Stop, you're going to get tackled!" the officer yelled before quickly catching up to him and tackling him to the ground.

The 50-year-old man was subsequently arrested and found to be in possession of several stolen items recovered from his pants and backpack. Police say that these items included multiple stolen goods.

Charges have been filed against the suspect, who faces two counts of felony theft, resisting an officer, and possession of cannabis. The incident highlights the police department's efforts to protect residents and deter shoplifting in their community.

So I'm watching this body cam footage and it's pretty intense... I mean, first off, you gotta give props to that cop who chased down a bike-riding suspect in New Smyrna Beach. The way he yells "Stop, you're going to get tackled!" is just crazy - like, what does that even feel like for the guy? 🤯 And then the officer tackles him to the ground without hesitation... I guess it's all about prioritizing public safety, but still, it's some serious moves. Anyways, it looks like the suspect had a bunch of stolen stuff on them, and now he's facing felony charges. Hopefully, this guy gets some help and turns his life around - two counts of theft is no joke. But seriously, I love how the police department is taking proactive steps to prevent shoplifting in their community... it's all about keeping everyone safe! 🛡️

I was walking by the beach yesterday and I saw this guy on a bike trying to peddle away with some stuff and I'm like "hold up buddy" lol! But for real, it looks like he got caught red-handed (or should i say red-armed haha). 50 is a bit old to be shoplifting but I guess you never know what's going on behind closed doors 😂. It just goes to show that police are always watching and they're not messing around when it comes to stopping crime in the area. My cousin actually knows someone who got caught shoplifting back in the day and they had to do community service... anyway, I'm glad this guy is facing charges but at the same time, maybe he just needed a good talk with the authorities 🤷‍♀️?

just saw this crazy vid on instagram 🤯
- port orange cops really took down that bike thief like he was in a game of fortnite 🚴‍♂️💨 the officer's shout "stop, you're gonna get tackled" is straight fire 🔥 and those stolen goods from his backpack are some wild stuff too... looks like they got their man, though 👮

idk why ppl need 2 do this 2morrow lol... shoplifter gets caught n all they r goin 4 is charges 🤷‍♂️ anyway, watchin that vid was crazy! officer was so quick 2 catch the guy on his bike... i mean, ur not goin 2 get away dat easy lol. also, who tries 2 steal on a bike? 😂 anywayz, its good 2 see police doin their job & keepin the community safe 🙏

🚨💪 I gotta say, that's some crazy stuff right there! 50-year-old dude on a bike trying to swipe some goods? 😂 It's like something out of a movie. But seriously, I think it's awesome that the cop was able to apprehend him without anyone getting hurt. The chase scene must've been intense though! 🏃‍♂️💨

I'm not sure what's more surprising - the fact that he got caught or the fact that he thought he could get away with bike-stealing 😂. Either way, I hope he faces some serious consequences for his actions.

As for me, I'll stick to buying my stuff online from now on 🛍️😂. Just saying! 👊

Honestly, I'm just not buying it 🤔... a guy on a bike trying to steal stuff? sounds like a Hollywood movie plot to me 😂. And what's with the dramatic body cam footage? didn't we watch all those police chases last season? 📺 it's getting old. but seriously, 50 years old and still trying to swipe some goods? that's just weird. i feel bad for the officer who had to do this, but at the same time... could they have just let him walk with a warning or something? 💸
