Venezuela's Maduro now in jail in NYC; Trump says U.S. will run the country

Venezuela's Maduro Arrested in NYC: US Takes Over Governance

In an extraordinary move, US forces raided Venezuela and brought President Nicolás Maduro into custody on Saturday morning, as part of a mission dubbed "Operation Absolute Resolve." The operation was authorized by President Donald Trump, who has vowed to take control of the country.

Maduro, who had been wanted by the DEA for narco-terrorism charges since 2020, was flown to New York City from Venezuela in handcuffs and shackles. He was processed at DEA Headquarters in Manhattan before being airlifted to the notorious Federal detention facility known as MDC Brooklyn.

The US claims that Maduro is a "kingpin of a vast criminal network responsible for trafficking colossal amounts of deadly and illicit drugs into the United States." Trump has said that he will govern Venezuela until a more suitable government can be established, citing concerns over the well-being of Venezuelan citizens.

However, critics have expressed skepticism about the move, with many arguing that it represents an unprecedented attempt by the US to exert control over another country's affairs. "We can't take a chance that someone else takes over Venezuela that doesn't have the good of Venezuelan people in mind," Trump said.

For his part, Maduro's wife Cilia Flores has been taken into custody alongside him. The couple was greeted with cheers from crowds of Venezuelan Americans who had gathered to celebrate the president's arrest.

The move caps an escalating military campaign by the US that began with air strikes on boats suspected of smuggling drugs into the country. It is unclear what will happen next, but one thing is certain: Venezuela's future has been reshaped in a major way.

I'm not sure about this whole situation... 🤔 I mean, I get why Trump wants to step in and help the Venezuelan people, but taking over governance? That's some serious power trip right there 💪. What if he ends up making things worse instead of better? And what about the rights of Maduro and his family? I feel for them being taken away like that... 🚔. I just hope the US has a solid plan in place to actually make a positive impact on Venezuela's future, or else it could all end in disaster 🌪️.

OMG u guys! 🤯 I'm low-key shocked by this whole thing... like, Maduro getting arrested and taken to NYC? That's some serious Game of Thrones drama right there! 😂 Can't believe Trump is just taking over Venezuela like he owns the place. Like what about all those ppl who actually live in Venezuela? Are they gonna get a say in their own country now?

I'm also kinda confused why Maduro was wanted by the DEA for narco-terrorism charges since 2020... how did that even happen?! 🤔 And what's with the "Operation Absolute Resolve" name? Sounds like something out of a Marvel movie, not real life 😂.

Anyway, this whole thing just feels so... unpredictable. Like, can we really trust the US to take care of Venezuela now? Shouldn't they be working with the UN or something instead of just swooping in and taking over? 🤷‍♀️

😱 I mean, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole situation... US taking over Venezuela like that? It's crazy! 🤯 I feel bad for the Venezuelan people, they're already struggling so much with food and medicine shortages. Now they gotta deal with some dude from NYC telling them how to run their country? 🙄 It's a lot to take in.

I'm also kinda curious about Cilia Flores being taken into custody... what was she even doing there? 😕 I guess we'll have to wait and see how this all plays out. One thing for sure, it's gonna be interesting to watch how Venezuela's future unfolds. 🔄🌎

OMG 🤯 I'm literally shook about this news! Like, I get why Maduro was wanted for narco-terrorism charges and all, but taking over the gov of an entire country? That's some serious crazy talk 💥 My mind is blown that Trump is just gonna swoop in and run the show for a while. What even is Operation Absolute Resolve? Sounds like something out of a movie 🎬 Anyways, I'm curious to see how this all plays out. Is it really about helping the Venezuelan people or is there more to it? Can we trust that Trump's got their best interests at heart? 🤔

🤯 I'm literally shook about this whole situation. The US taking over governance in Venezuela? That's some wild stuff right there! I mean, I get that Maduro was wanted for narco-terrorism charges and all, but does the US really need to step in like this? It feels like they're trying to impose their own brand of order on a country that's already been through so much. 🤔 And what about the implications for Venezuela's sovereignty? Are we just gonna let the US run the show over there now? I'm not sure how I feel about this whole thing, tbh...

🤔 so like I dont get why trump did this... Maduro wasnt even doing anything wrong for his own country he just wanted to survive under all that economic crisis 🤑 and now US takes over governance? thats not helping either... what about venezuelans wants from their government is it just "absolute resolve"? sounds like usa has more interest in resources than actual stability 🌎

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this 😲🤯 whole situation... I mean, I get that Maduro's been wanted for ages and all, but taking over an entire country? 🤔 That sounds like some kinda coup to me 🚫. What's next? The US gonna start running other countries too? 🤷‍♂️ Trump's got a lot of guts (or maybe just a lot of drama), I'll give him that 😎. But can't we just let Venezuela figure its own stuff out? 🤗 I'm all for human rights and the people's well-being, but this feels like a whole lotta imperialism to me 💁‍♀️.

🤯 what is going on in Venezuela?! I'm thinking Maduro got what was coming to him for all those human rights abuses and corruption scandals he's been involved in...but now the US is taking over? 😂 That's like something out of a movie, right? Like Trump is playing the hero who saves the day...or is it just power trip 🤑. I'm not saying Maduro didn't deserve to be taken down, but come on, US can't just take over another country's governance without causing chaos and more problems...what about all the Venezuelan people who are already suffering? 💔

🤔 And what's going to happen to Cilia Flores now that she's in custody too? I hope her hubby didn't get the best of her, you know? 😂 This whole thing is so unpredictable...I just hope it doesn't lead to more instability and suffering for the Venezuelan people. 🌎

🤔 This whole thing feels super sketchy to me... Like, what's going on here? One minute we're talking about the US taking over governance in Venezuela and the next minute it's like they just swooped in and arrested Maduro without giving anyone else a chance to intervene. And what about due process or something? It's not exactly reassuring that the President is being taken into custody by his own DEA agents... 🚨

OMG 🤯 this is crazy! I'm actually still trying to wrap my head around it... like how did it even come to this? One sec I need to fact-check some of the deets, but from what I've gathered so far, it sounds super sus to me 🤑. The DEA has been after Maduro since 2020 and now he's just chillin' in NYC with handcuffs on 😂... meanwhile the US is trying to claim they're doing this for the greater good? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, what about all the people back in Venezuela who are gonna be affected by this power grab? It's like, can't we have a more diplomatic approach here? 🤞

Ugh I'm so worried about this! My cousin has a niece who lives in NYC and she's freaking out about the news - what if Maduro gets hurt? 🤕 And what about Cilia Flores, my goodness they're taking away everything from her too... 😩 I just hope the US can figure out a way to help Venezuela without making things worse for the people there. It feels like this is all so sudden and chaotic... my kids are always saying we need to be prepared for emergencies but something like this is just crazy 🤯. Anyone have any idea what's going on now?

This whole ordeal feels like a power play to me 🤯... The US just swooped in and took control of Venezuela without even consulting the UN or other international bodies? That's a pretty bold move, especially considering all the complexities surrounding this situation. I mean, Maduro has been accused of various crimes, but is it really justified for the US to take over his government entirely?

And what about the potential consequences for Venezuela's democracy and its people? 🤔 Trump's claim that he'll govern until a more suitable government can be established sounds like a pretty thin excuse. It feels like the US is trying to impose its own will on another country, which isn't exactly what diplomacy is all about.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the long run...

🤔 The US taking over governance of Venezuela... 🌎️ I'm not sure if it's a good idea 😐. On one hand, Maduro sounds like he's got some serious heat with the DEA charges and all that drama 💥. But on the other hand, isn't this kinda like them setting up their own puppet government? 🤷‍♂️

I've drawn a quick diagram to illustrate my point:
```
+---------------+
US intervention
+---------------+
|
|
v
+-------------------------------+
Puppet government?
(US control)
+-------------------------------+
Venezuelan people
are left in the dark?
v v
+-------------------------------+
Uncertainty & chaos
for Venezuela's future
+-------------------------------+
```
🤔 What do you guys think? Should the US be taking control of another country's governance? 🤝
