US judge orders release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from immigration detention

US Judge Orders Release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from Immigration Detention After Trump Administration Misled Court

A Maryland resident who was wrongfully deported by the Trump administration to El Salvador and later returned to the United States has been ordered released from immigration detention by a federal judge. The decision, made by US District Judge Paula Xinis on Thursday, is the latest development in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

Abrego Garcia, who entered the US as a teenager without documentation, had his deportation order rescinded in 2019 due to concerns for his safety. However, he was later re-detained by immigration authorities after his return from El Salvador, which sparked widespread criticism of the Trump administration's mass deportation policies.

Judge Xinis ruled that Abrego Garcia has been held in detention without lawful authority and ordered his immediate release. The judge also stated that the Trump administration had "affirmatively misled" the court on several occasions, including falsely claiming that Costa Rica had rescinded an offer to accept Abrego Garcia.

The Department of Homeland Security condemned the ruling, calling it "judicial activism." However, Abrego Garcia's lawyers argue that the decision is a major victory for their client and represents a significant setback for the Trump administration's mass deportation policies.

Abrego Garcia's case has been closely watched by immigration advocates and critics of the Trump administration's hardline approach to immigration. His wrongful deportation and re-detention have become a rallying point for those seeking to protect the rights of undocumented immigrants.

The ruling also highlights the ongoing challenges faced by immigrants who are caught in the US immigration system, particularly those who are detained without due process or access to their rights. Abrego Garcia's case is likely to be appealed by the Trump administration, but for now, his release from detention represents a significant victory for his family and supporters.

Abrego Garcia has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration alleging that he was subjected to vindictive treatment after his wrongful deportation. He is also seeking asylum in the US through a separate proceeding. The judge's ruling on Thursday provides a glimmer of hope for Abrego Garcia, who had been facing an uncertain future in immigration detention.

The decision by Judge Xinis has significant implications for the Trump administration's approach to immigration policy and raises questions about the use of deportation as a tool of punishment. As the US continues to grapple with its complex immigration landscape, cases like Abrego Garcia's will likely remain at the forefront of public debate and court battles.

๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ Can't believe this is still happening in 2025! ๐Ÿคฏ A guy gets wrongly deported, re-detained without due process... it's just not right ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, what's the point of even having a court system if you're just gonna ignore the law and bully people like Kilmar Abrego Garcia? ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜ก The fact that DHS is calling this "judicial activism" is just laughable... who's really being activist here? ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ The judge is just trying to do her job, which is to uphold justice and protect human rights. โœŠ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’– We need more of these kinds of rulings, not less! ๐Ÿ‘

Ugh, I'm not surprised by this outcome ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. The whole thing reeks of a massive cover-up and it's just another example of how broken the immigration system is in this country. Like, what even happened to Abrego Garcia? He was already back in the US and they still managed to mess up his deportation status ๐Ÿ˜’. And now they're gonna appeal it? Of course they are ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's not like justice actually occurred here or anything. I'm sure there are more people out there who got wrongly deported just like him, but nobody ever hears about it because the system is too slow and too corrupt to deal with it properly ๐Ÿ’”.

๐Ÿค” this ruling is a total slap in the face for the Trump admin's policies on immigration... I mean, come on, they knowingly misled a court, it's just not right ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Abrego Garcia's case highlights the need for reform, we can't keep treating ppl like he did, without due process or access to their rights ๐Ÿšซ. The DHS is all bent outta shape, calling it "judicial activism" but I'd say that's just them trying to deflect from their own wrongdoing ๐Ÿ˜’. This ruling is a major victory for the little guy and shows that there are ppl in power who actually care about justice ๐Ÿ’ช. We should be celebrating this decision, not condemning it like the DHS ๐ŸŽ‰.

man this is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ Kilmar Abrego Garcia was already living his best life in the us then trump comes along and starts messing with him just because he didnt have papers to begin with its not right that he got deported back to el salvador like that then re detained again after he came back ... and now a judge says we gotta let him go lol i mean i get it the guy wasnt supposed to be here but holding him without authority is just crazy ๐Ÿคช the fact that the trump administration lied in court about costa rica or whatever is just fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿค” so i was reading this news about kilmar abrego garcia being released from immigration detention after a us judge ruled that the trump administration misled the court... it's crazy to think about how the trump admin just messed up big time on this guy's case! ๐Ÿšจ they took him in as a teenager, gave him deportation orders but then rescinded them because they thought he'd be safer in el salvador... and now he's back in us detention without any good reason!

anyway, the judge ruled that kilmar was held in detention without lawful authority so he has to go free. and it looks like the trump admin is trying to spin this as some kind of 'judicial activism' but let's be real, they messed up. ๐Ÿ™„

the thing about this case is that it highlights just how broken our immigration system is. we gotta do better than just locking people up without giving them a chance to prove themselves or access to their rights. and it's not like kilmar did anything wrong... he just got caught in the system and now his family is breathing a sigh of relief ๐Ÿ™

anyway, this whole thing has me thinking about how our immigration policies are always being shaped by politics rather than common sense or compassion. we need to do better than that! ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿค this is crazy how one person's case can be so telling for the whole country's approach on immigration... kilmar abrego garcia's story is heartbreaking & it shows that we need to be more careful with our laws & processes so no one else gets treated like this ๐ŸŒŽ my heart goes out to him & his family, they've been through enough already. and yeah, a huge win for the activists fighting for immigrant rights, but we know there's still so much work to do ๐Ÿ’ช

omg lol this is amazing!!! ๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŽ‰ kilmar abrego garcia deserves all the credit for fighting back against those evil deporters! ๐Ÿšซโ€โ™‚๏ธ i'm so hyped that judge xinis finally listened to him and released him from detention - it's about time! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ the trump administration is just getting more and more exposed, like they're trying to hide something but can't! ๐Ÿคฅ i'm dying over here thinking about all the times they lied to court... poor kilmar, he didn't deserve that kind of treatment. ๐Ÿค— his case is literally a victory for the whole immigration community, and i am HERE. FOR. IT!!! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐ŸŒŸ

omg what a huge win for Kilmar!!! ๐Ÿคฉ he's finally gonna get his life back on track after being held captive for way too long ๐Ÿšซ his story is so inspiring & it just goes to show that justice can prevail even when the system tries to hold you down ๐Ÿ’ช we gotta keep fighting for immigrant rights though - there are still so many people out there who are struggling like Abrego Garcia and need our help & support ๐Ÿ’•
