In contrast to his public image, the lawmaker's profile on Fling.com listed his preferred sexual activities as "threesome," "being dominant/master," and "one-night stands." His account included a description of himself as an "attached male seeking female" with explicit preferences for women taking charge during sex.

Posthumus is a prominent figure in Michigan politics, serving as majority floor leader in the state House of Representatives. Posthumus's business partner was recently sued by a migrant worker alleging wage theft and labor-law violations.
