this whole thing still gives me chills, you know? like, 167 men lost their lives in an instant, it's just...wow 
. and joe meanen's story is so crazy, jumping off the platform into the north sea with no choice but to use his safety training to guide him towards safety...it's insane . i can only imagine how traumatized he must have been, physically and mentally 
. the fact that there were other survivors who made it out alive is still mind-blowing to me, especially meanen and those 4 others who found their way to the helideck 
.i think what really gets me is how much joe meanen has changed since the disaster, you know? he used to struggle with emotions and talking about his experience, but now he's all about spreading awareness and safety advice offshore
. it's like he found a new purpose in life after that fateful night 
. anyway, just reading this story again is still giving me goosebumps...it's just too much
