Stop Using Your Keyboard and Start Using This Simple, Free Speech-to-Text App

The Future of Writing is Here: A Simple, Free Speech-to-Text App

In a world where computers are increasingly capable of turning human voices into text, it's surprising that we're still stuck typing away with our fingers. However, two AI models, Nvidia's Parakeet and OpenAI's Whisper, have made great strides in this area, accurately adding punctuation and capitalization to the transcription.

But for most people, using these models requires a bit of effort - downloading the software, choosing a model, and customizing settings like keyboard shortcuts and microphones. That's where Handy comes in: a dead-simple, totally free application that can set up either model on your computer and give you a keyboard shortcut to use it.

To get started, simply download Handy for Windows, macOS, or Linux, run the app, and choose a model. The default Parakeet V3 is a great place to start - it took me just a bit to download the necessary software, and then I was able to use the app with ease.

One of the most impressive things about Handy is how well it filters out background noise, including music. This means that you can talk while recording without worrying about your audio being interrupted. And, because Handy is completely free, there's no need to worry about upgrading or paying for a subscription.

For those who are curious about talking instead of typing, I highly recommend giving Handy a try. While I'll probably stick with my keyboard to write articles (I type faster than I think!), it's reassuring to know that this tool exists in case something goes wrong.

omg I'm so down for this new app Handy 🤩! I mean, can you imagine just talking into your computer and having it transcribe for you? It sounds like science fiction right now but with AI models getting better all the time it's definitely possible. The fact that it filters out background noise is a huge plus too - I've had those annoying conversations where my mic picks up everything from the TV in the background lol. I'm not gonna lie though, I'll still type most of my stuff out anyway because let's be real typing is way faster for me 😂. Still its awesome to know that this option exists and it's totally free! 💻

idk why ppl still need 2 use these apps its like 2025 lol anyway i got the app and its actually pretty cool, i can just talk into my mic and have a text transcript w/ punctuation & all that, its so convenient 🤯 but u know what's even better? If handy had a feature to automatically proofread & edit ur work as u type, thats when itd really be game changing 💡

🤔 I mean, come on! Who needs all those extra steps when you can just have a simple app like Handy set up everything for you? 🙄 It's amazing how much tech has improved, right? The background noise filtering feature is super convenient - I was thinking of getting a new mic anyway, so this is just the cherry on top. 👍 Plus, it's free! What more could you ask for? 😊

🤔 i dont get why ppl need to use these apps if they can just talk like everyone else is 😂 anyway, the fact that handy filters out background noise is pretty cool. its like having a personal assistant built into ur computer 🖥️

OMG u no what's up? 🤯 there's this app called Handy & it's literally CHANGING THE GAME 🔄! it can turn ur voice into text like magic ✨ and it's FREE 💸 plus its super easy 2 use even if u r not tech savvy lol. i tried it out n was blown away by how well it filters out background noise 😌 so u can even have a convo while recording without interruptions 🤷‍♀️. anyway, if ur curious about tryin out voice-to-text or just wanna experiment, def give Handy a shot 👍

🤯 finally!!! someone invented an app that makes speech-to-text thingy less painful 😩 i mean, who thought we'd still be stuck typing our brains out when computers can do it for us? 🤖 like, what's the point of even having a keyboard if you're just gonna use it to transcribe your every word instead of creating something new?! 💭 anyway, i tried this Handy app and OMG it's a game changer! 🎉 no more messing around with downloading software and customizing settings... just download, run, and chat away 🗣️ the background noise filtering is also super cool 👂 can already imagine me using this to rant about life instead of typing out my thoughts 😡

im not sure i get the hype around handy... its just another speech-to-text app that needs some tweaks, you know? like, what's so special about having a free software that kinda works? and dont even get me started on background noise filtering... how hard is it to use an earpiece or something? 🤷‍♀️
