Saracens v Toulouse: Hosts clear the air after Leicester defeat

Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall has issued a stern warning to his team following their "incredibly disappointing" 36-28 defeat to Leicester at Mattioli Woods Welford Road. The loss saw Saracens suffer four first-half tries, which McCall described as an emotional setback.

"We weren't ready for the big game - we clearly weren't," said McCall. "In the end that falls on me and we've got to do something about it." The Saracens boss acknowledged that his side's poor preparation had led to the dismal result.

However, McCall is determined to bounce back with a positive attitude and will use Toulouse's experience as an inspiration. The French club has built a dynasty through their "build-from-within" approach, developing young players who are now leading the team over the past decade.

"We played a round-robin game in the Champions Cup there in 2016 and we won quite easily," McCall recalled. "Their solution was to build from within. They knew they had a crop of youngsters who were 18, 19, 20, 21 at the time, who are all in their late 20s, early 30s now, who've led the club over the last 10 years."

McCall believes that building a young team takes patience and that he has learned valuable lessons from Toulouse's success. The Saracens boss is determined to put his side's recent defeat behind them and move forward with renewed energy.

The three-time reigning French champions, Toulouse, are set to host Saracens at the sold-out StoneX Stadium on Sunday in a crucial Investec Champions Cup match. With their stars rested for their previous league match, Toulouse will look to make it to the last 16 of the competition.

πŸ€” This Saracens team is struggling big time 😳... four tries in the first half? 🀯 what's going on with that defense? 🚫 they need to sort themselves out ASAP πŸ’ͺ... Mark McCall's right, he can't blame anyone else but himself 😬 but hopefully, they can take some tips from Toulouse's approach πŸ‘ "build-from-within" makes so much sense... those young players are like a well-oiled machine πŸ€–πŸ’¨ and Saracens just need to be patient, it'll come around eventually πŸ’•πŸ‘

omg what's going on with saracens?! they got destroyed by leicester 🀯 i mean mark mccall is being super honest about their poor prep work but i think he's on the right track by studying toulouse's "build-from-within" approach πŸ‘ it's all about patience and developing young talent, you feel? saracens need to get their house in order ASAP or they'll be stuck in the Champions Cup wilderness 🌫️

.. think Saracens need to step up their game big time 🀯 they got destroyed by Leicester and now they gotta bounce back against a decent team in Toulouse πŸ‰. McCall's right though, his side wasn't ready for that match, we can all agree on that 😐. But what really caught my attention was how Toulouse built that dynasty from within 🌱 it's not just about having talented players, it's about developing them and making them leaders πŸ’ͺ. Saracens need to take a page out of Toulouse's book and focus on building their young team up πŸ“ˆ, it won't be easy though, they'll have to get that patience thing down πŸ‘€.

Man, Saracens is really struggling this season... πŸ€” I'm all for Mark McCall's "build-from-within" approach, but 4 first-half tries against Leicester? That's just crazy talk! 😲 Still, you gotta respect how Toulouse has built their dynasty over the past decade. They've got some serious depth and patience is key in this game.

I think McCall's right to acknowledge his own role in the loss, though - he can't just blame it on the players all the time. πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ But, on the other hand, Saracens has been pretty ruthless when they're on form... so let's see how this new approach plays out. Hopefully, we'll get to see some of that old Saracens magic back on Sunday! ⚑️

πŸ‰ oh man, Saracens is totally losing its mojo right now... four tries against Leicester in the first half? 😱 that's just not how you win games. McCall's got to get his team back on track ASAP or they'll be stuck playing catch-up all season.

I love what he's saying about building from within, tho 🀝 Toulouse's approach is all about developing young players and letting them take over the reins. It's a whole new way of doing things in rugby... Saracens needs to get on board ASAP if they wanna stay competitive.

Sunday can't come soon enough ⏰, I'm hoping McCall's team has figured out what went wrong against Leicester and comes back swinging against Toulouse 🀞

omg have u ever tried making homemade pizza from scratch? i was thinking about getting a pizza stone for my oven and making some authentic italian pies πŸ•πŸ”₯. anyway back to rugby... toulouse's approach is so inspiring, but what if saracens focus on developing their own young talent instead of relying on imports? maybe mark mcCall should create an academy program or something?

πŸ˜‚ can't believe McCall is taking the blame for that team's performance πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ like he's the only one responsible for those four tries in the first half 🀯 I mean, come on guys, you gotta step up your game plan and communication πŸ’¬ if you wanna take down top teams like Leicester πŸ”₯ Toulouse might have built a dynasty from within but it takes more than just youth to win consistently ⏰ Saracens need to get their act together ASAP or they'll be sleeping through the playoffs 😴

Ugh, can't believe McCall is trying to spin this loss like it's all his fault πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Like, no one ever expects a team to just magically start playing well after a bad game? Saracens needed some actual changes, not just "we gotta build from within" vibes πŸ’ͺ. And btw, Toulouse's youth development program is cool and all, but can they actually play a decent 80 minutes without their squad getting smashed πŸ€”. Maybe it's time for McCall to look beyond the youth movement and get some actual talent on his team? ⚠️

I'm still trying to process what happened with Saracens last week... 🀯 They had so many chances and yet they still managed to lose by 8 points! 😬 Mark McCall is absolutely right, though - preparation is key, especially in big games like this. It's clear that Toulouse have a system that works, and it's something we should definitely be looking at... πŸ€” I mean, who wouldn't want to build from within and develop young talent? That's the kind of stability and consistency you need in rugby. Fingers crossed Saracens can turn their game around and get back on track - they've got a tough match coming up against Toulouse! πŸ’ͺ

omg what's with all these rugby teams?! i mean i know some people love it but i just don't get it lol saracens must be really sad about that loss πŸ€• but hey mark mcCall is trying to learn from toulouse's "build-from-within" approach which sounds kinda cool 😊 and yeah building a young team takes patience so maybe saracens can use this as an opportunity to grow 🌱

can't believe saracens got destroyed by leicester like that 😱 they need to sort out their preparation game ASAP... been watching them struggle in recent games and it's getting old πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ but you gotta give mark mcCall props for not panicking after a huge loss, he's already looking to the future and learning from toulouse's "build-from-within" approach πŸ’‘ that's the kind of attitude you need when you're on the brink of collapse πŸ‘

man i was really rooting for saracens but that game against leicester was just insane... they got destroyed in the first half 😱 and four tries? that's just crazy 🀯 i remember watching the champions cup with my mates last year and toulouse was on fire πŸ’₯ they built this dynasty from scratch and it's inspiring to see how they've done it over the years... 10 years of building young players and now they're one of the best teams in europe πŸ‘ mark mcCall sounds like a wise guy, he knows what went wrong and is taking it upon himself to fix it πŸ’ͺ but gotta say, saracens are gonna have their work cut out for them against toulouse this weekend πŸ€”

OMG, what's going on with Saracens!!! 🀯 They just got destroyed by Leicester and now they're gonna face Toulouse again? πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ I mean, Mark McCall is right, they weren't ready for that big game and it shows! πŸ˜” Their defense was all over the place... Four tries in the first half?! That's just not good enough. πŸ‘Ž But you gotta give credit to Toulouse, they've built this dynasty from within and it's working out pretty well for them πŸ™Œ. Mark McCall is learning from their example and trying to build a young team too, so fingers crossed that Saracens can turn it around soon! πŸ’ͺ

I mean, come on... rugby is just getting more and more weird 🀯. Four tries in the first half? That's just crazy talk! I don't get why they can't just play a normal game for like an hour or something before things start to get out of hand πŸ˜‚. And what's with all these 'dynasties' that everyone keeps talking about? Toulouse is like, okay cool, but Saracens are still gonna try and come back from this πŸ™„. I don't know, maybe Mark McCall just needs to take a step back and chill out for a sec... or get some new coaching staff 😴. Anyway, it's all good, I guess. Bring on the next match! πŸ‘Š

I feel bad for McCall, he's been doing a great job but that loss is really tough to swallow πŸ˜”. They gotta regroup and focus on building from within like Toulouse did 🀝. It's not gonna be easy, but I trust McCall to make the right calls πŸ‘Š. Maybe they can learn from their mistakes and come out stronger against Toulouse πŸ’ͺ. That StoneX Stadium is gonna be electric! ⚑️

omg I'm so stoked about this upcoming match 🀩 Saracens gotta bounce back from that brutal loss and I think McCall's strategy is genius πŸ”₯ building a young team takes time & patience but if anyone can do it, it's them! Toulouse's approach is all about developing those young guns into leaders and I love how they've been able to sustain success over the past decade πŸ™Œ

I'm also loving the positivity vibe from McCall πŸ’ͺ he's taking responsibility for the loss and already looking forward to the next match which is exactly what you need when things aren't going well 😊 I'm expecting a huge game on Sunday, Saracens better come correct! ⚑️
