Roblox, James Bond and a billion-dollar video game – here are our most-read gaming stories of 2025

This year was marked by some great games that captured our attention - but they also raised questions about their place in the world.

I've got to say I'm not a fan of Roblox, mainly because I don't want my kids playing it without proper supervision. The platform is free and has over 150 million daily users - mostly children. If your kid enjoys playing Roblox, make sure you lock down parental controls as much as possible.

It turns out that spending more than 12 hours on Baby Steps was a bit too much for me. It seems some people do enjoy this game about falling down a mountain and getting nowhere fast.

Sega's Master System console is actually the best thing in Europe when it comes to 80s consoles - not just Japan and the US, as often claimed. Keith Stuart did an awesome tribute to one of Sega's lesser-known consoles.

Elon Musk recently got caught cheating at video games on social media. This wasn't his first time getting caught out and I have to say, it was pretty entertaining watching him try to save face about it.

The Trump administration has been using video game imagery to recruit for ICE - a serious issue that highlights the power of gaming in modern politics.

2026 is going to be big year for gamers, with Grand Theft Auto 6 finally hitting the shelves. But before we get too excited, let's take a look at some of this year's most anticipated games and what they have to offer.

If you're looking for recommendations on what game to play, there are a few hidden gems from the past that still hold up today - like Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Finally, if you're stuck at home with your kids over Hogmanay, why not break out some old plastic instruments and get rocking? It's estimated that playing these games could last for years - but it's definitely worth a shot.

I'm kinda worried about how much gaming is taking over our lives 🤔. I mean, don't get me wrong, it can be super fun and all, but 12 hours on Baby Steps? That's like, a whole day! And what about all the toxic kids out there playing games without proper supervision? It's not all fun and games (pun intended) 😒.

On the other hand, I'm glad someone's calling out Elon Musk for his gaming antics 🙄. He's supposed to be a visionary, but apparently, he still likes to have some fun with his friends. And hey, at least it's entertaining to watch him squirm about it 😂.

But seriously, gaming can be a powerful tool in politics and other areas of life. Let's just hope we're not getting too caught up in the hype and forgetting what's really important 🤷‍♀️.

omg i'm so down for GTA 6 lol I mean who doesn't love an open-world game with insane action 🤯. gotta say tho, I'm loving the throwback vibes on this article 😆, like Guitar Hero and Rock Band are still totes relevant. and omg that Master System tribute by Keith Stuart was fire 🔥. but for real though, can we talk about how games are influencing politics rn it's crazy stuff 🤯. and lol @ Elon Musk trying to play it cool on social media 😂.

I don't think people are making too much of a big deal about Elon Musk getting caught cheating at video games lol 😂 I mean, come on, it's just a game, right? He's still a genius entrepreneur and innovator 🤔. And can we talk about how awesome it is that he's using gaming to connect with people and build a community? Maybe we should be focusing on his positive contributions rather than the one time he got caught doing something silly 🙃. And let's not forget, he's still pushing the boundaries of space technology and making humanity a multi-planetary species 🚀!

🤔 The way gaming is portrayed in politics is getting more real 📰... I'm all for using my free time to express myself, but when it comes to using power, especially with immigration policies, I think there should be better ways to communicate the message without using imagery from a game 🎮.

I'm so done with gaming influencers trying to be everything to everyone 🤯. They're always hyping up games like they've played them non-stop, but the truth is, most of us just wanna play and have fun without all the drama 🎮💨. Can we please just get back to playing games in peace? 🙅‍♂️
