Philadelphia Police Seek Public's Help in Tracking Down SUV Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
The Philadelphia Police Department is urging citizens to come forward with any information that can help identify a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed DJ June Rodriguez last December. The Jeep, which has significant damage to its front-end fender and a broken headlight, was spotted heading west on Lancaster Avenue after striking Rodriguez while he was biking home from work.
According to investigators, the SUV had been following closely behind Rodriguez as he made a left turn at the intersection of 56th Street and Lancaster Avenue. After hitting him, the Jeep swerved and continued driving, leaving Rodriguez to suffer fatal injuries. The victim, who worked for decades at Bob and Barbara's Lounge in Center City, was pronounced dead just over an hour after being struck.
The police are now appealing to the public to come forward with any information that can help track down the SUV. State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta has also spoken out about Rodriguez's passing, calling him a "dear friend" who treated people with kindness and generosity. A memorial service was held at Bob and Barbara's Lounge in December to honor Rodriguez's memory.

. Like, what's the point of even having laws if people are just gonna speed off and leave their victims to die? Lancaster Ave is a super busy road, how did it not get caught by the cameras or witnesses right away?! This is getting more and more frustrating by the day... any info on this SUV, pls come forward! ... I mean, can you imagine being out for a bike ride after work and then BAM! Some guy's life is cut short by a drunk driver or worse, like in this case with the SUV hit-and-run? It's just infuriating that we have to resort to appeals from the public to get anyone to step forward with info... I'm all for it, but come on, can't people see what they're doing and report it when they know something's fishy? 
The fact that this Jeep was following DJ Rodriguez and then just swerved away is just reckless... anyway, I hope the police catch up with whoever did this and bring 'em to justice

. The police are doing a good job trying to get the SUV caught though 
I mean, what's gonna happen when we do find out who owns it? Are they just gonna get a slap on the wrist for running someone over? I don't see why we need to be asking around about some old SUV anyway, seems like a pretty big jump from being aware of one car to helping solve some other crime... Just letting that Jeep sit there gathering dust might actually be better than causing more stress and hassle for people who didn't even do anything wrong 
... but come on, can't we do better than this? A hit-and-run? It's just so avoidable. And now his family and friends are left to deal with the aftermath.
. The police need to step up their game if they want to catch this guy and make sure something like this never happens again.
