New York City Police Department Launches Manhunt for Armed Robbery Duo Targeting Men in Manhattan and the Bronx
In a string of nearly two dozen robberies spanning September to this week, the NYPD is now on high alert to apprehend two men who allegedly targeted victims while armed. The suspects have been linked to 16 incidents across Manhattan and the Bronx, with most described as armed robberies.
According to police reports, the most recent heist occurred in SoHo this week when one of the men fired a gun outside a residential building on Charlton Street and Sixth Avenue while stealing a handbag from a 59-year-old man. The victim was left unharmed, but witnesses reported hearing gunfire; no one else was struck by bullets.
Surveillance footage appears to show the suspects fleeing on two-wheeled vehicles, often on gray or green scooters. Police have also obtained images of one suspect wearing a black jacket, hood with white triangle trim, and carrying a backpack while riding what looks like an electric motorbike.
While most incidents targeted men between 19 and 60 years old, the perpetrators primarily stole their neck chains โ although they also took cash and a few bicycles. One victim was struck in the head by a gun during a robbery on September 30, but refused medical attention at the scene.
The NYPD has reported that robberies citywide have decreased over 9% this year compared to the same period last year, with similar declines seen in Manhattan and the Bronx.
Police are now urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward. They can be reached through the Crime Stoppers Hotline (1-800-577-TIPS) or online at the Crime Stoppers website. The investigation is ongoing as new details become available.
