Mother of 2 arrested at NYC home in connection with her ex-partner’s 1993 cold case murder

A mother of two was arrested at her New York City home in connection with the 1993 cold case murder of her ex-partner, a 30-year-old father who was shot and killed in California. Veronica Fonseca, 49, was taken into custody by US Marshals Service after being identified as a suspect through an anonymous tip.

The investigation into Jackson's murder had been dormant for over two decades until the anonymous tip came forward. The tip led investigators to Fonseca and her current partner, who were dating at the time of the murder. Authorities believe that Fonseca may have been involved in the planning or execution of the crime.

Fonseca was arrested on Wednesday after being served with a warrant at her Queens home. She was charged with first-degree murder, grand larceny, and other crimes related to the murder.

Fonseca's family has expressed shock and sadness over her arrest. "This is devastating for us," Fonseca's sister said in a statement. "We can't believe that Veronica would do something like this."

The arrest marks the latest development in a case that has puzzled investigators for years. The FBI had reopened the investigation in 2014 after receiving an anonymous tip, but at the time, no concrete evidence had been found.

Fonseca is being held without bail and faces up to life in prison if convicted of all charges.

can you believe this? she's only 49 and now she's facing life in prison for a murder that happened over 30 years ago 🤯 the system is just so messed up, like who gets charged with something they did decades later? and it's just a coincidence that the anonymous tip came forward now, after all these years... it's like she was waiting for some kind of validation or something 😒

🤔 This whole thing just feels so messed up. A woman's life gets ruined by a single anonymous tip that could've been a misunderstanding or a false lead... 20+ years later and now she's facing life in prison. Can't help but wonder what really went down back in '93. Was it truly just an innocent woman being framed? 🤷‍♀️ The investigation was cold for so long, but the truth finally came to light. Fingers crossed that justice is served and not just a convenient arrest to satisfy the public's appetite for answers 🚔

🤦‍♀️ Can't make this stuff up anymore... A 49-yr-old mom of two gets arrested for a murder that happened like, what even was I in high school? 📚 And people wonder why crime rates are so low these days... just kidding, they're not. 😒

And honestly, the part where her family is all "this is devastating" ... like, no kidding, sis, your sister's a murderer now. Try to process that for one second. 😂 I mean, what even was she thinking? Was she just like, "you know what, I'm gonna kill my ex and get away with it"? 🤔

Anyway, guess the anonymous tip finally paid off... or whatever. 🤑 At least the FBI's been keeping busy, right? 😅

OMG, this is crazy 🤯! Like, a cold case from '93 and now the mum's in custody... it's like something out of a movie 😱. I feel so bad for her family, they must be going through hell right now 💔. But at the same time, you gotta think about Jackson's loved ones too... justice should be served, no matter how long it takes 🔒.

I don't know what to make of all this, but I'm gonna be keeping an eye on it 🤔. Fonseca's been living a pretty normal life for 20+ years, and now she's facing some serious charges... what was she thinking? 😕. Anyway, gotta give it up to the investigators who never gave up on solving this case 👏!

I don't usually comment on true crime stuff but this one just freaked me out 🤯 Veronica Fonseca's story is so messed up. I mean, 20+ years after the murder she gets caught? That anonymous tip must've been a game-changer for investigators. But at the same time, how could her family not see anything suspicious when they were living with her and her partner at the time of the murder? 🤔 And now she's facing life in prison... it just feels like too much time has passed 😔

🤔 this is crazy what's with the anonymous tips they just appeared out of thin air like magic I mean I'm glad justice is being served but also can't believe it took 30 years to figure something out 🕰️ and what's the deal with ex-partners getting murdered like that? was it a love triangle gone wrong or what 🤷‍♀️

OMG, what a crazy turn of events! I mean, can you even imagine getting arrested for a murder that happened over 30 years ago? 🤯 Like, was it really an anonymous tip that led them to her doorstep? I'm guessing they must've had some solid evidence or something. I feel bad for her ex-partner's family and friends, but at the same time, justice has gotta be served, right? 💔 This whole thing is giving me major "Law & Order" vibes... anywayz, hope Veronica gets a fair trial and whatever happens next...

can you believe this? they're arresting people 20 years after the fact just cuz some random person came forward with a tip 🙄 I mean, what's next? gonna start reviving old cold cases left and right because someone on twitter had an opinion 💡 I'm not saying she didn't do it or anything, but come on, how hard is it to solve crimes these days? we got better tech now than ever before, like, shouldn't we be able to crack this thing already? 🤔

😱 Can you even imagine? A mom of two gets arrested for a crime she's supposed to have been long buried? It's like this case was still cooking 20+ years ago, simmering away until someone decided to stir it back up 💡 The anonymous tip is wild - I wonder if that person had a personal connection to the case or just really cared about justice being served 🤔

Fonseca's family seems genuinely shocked and sad, but you can't help wondering if they knew more than they let on 🤷‍♀️ The investigation has been going on for years, and now it feels like all those years of searching have finally paid off... or are we just creating a whole new drama that wasn't there before? 🤔 Anyway, fingers crossed this case gets wrapped up soon! 💯

can't believe this 🤯 she's got two little kids now, what's gonna happen to them?
i feel bad for her family, they're really shaken up by the news... it's like, why didn't she come forward 20+ years ago?
it's crazy how a tip from an anonymous person can still crack a case like this after all these years 🤓

This is so wild 🤯... I mean, I'm trying to wrap my head around it - a woman arrested for a murder she allegedly committed over 30 years ago? It's like something out of a true crime movie 😱. I feel bad for her family, though - they're clearly in shock and upset. The fact that the investigation was re-opened after an anonymous tip just goes to show how these cases can be reopened even decades later.

I'm curious, do you think it's possible that Fonseca was involved? Was she trying to cover up something or was this a case of mistaken identity? 🤔 It's also crazy to think about the fact that she's being held without bail and faces life in prison if convicted... I hope justice is served, but at what cost? 💸

What do you guys think? Do we have enough info on this one yet or is it too early to form an opinion? 🤔

OMG, this is wild 😱! I'm literally shaking my head reading about Veronica Fonseca getting arrested for her ex's murder after like 20 years 🤯?! I don't even know what to think, you feel? Like, she was living her best life with a new partner and suddenly BAM, arrested for a crime that happened over TWO DECADES AGO 🕰️. It's just so crazy! And the part where her family is like "we can't believe she'd do something like this" is just... I don't know what to say 🤷‍♀️. This case has literally had everyone in it confused for years and now we get to see how it all goes down 💥. Fingers crossed justice gets served, but also kinda worried about Veronica's future 🤞.

omg I just can't even imagine how traumatic this must be for her ex-partner's family 🤕 I mean we've seen some crazy cases in the past, but a cold case that's been sleeping for over 20 years and then BAM! you get a new lead? it's like something out of a true crime movie 🎬 Anyway, I think Fonseca's sister is being kinda chill about it considering what she's saying... like "this is devastating"... yeah no kidding 😂 seriously though, this case just goes to show how important anonymous tips can be in solving these kinds of crimes 💡

can't believe this is happening - a mom of two arrested for a murder from over 30 years ago 🤯 it's crazy how cold cases can be reopened by just one anonymous tip... what does it say about the system that we can go decades without solving a crime and then suddenly have a break? 💡 and poor Jackson's family, still waiting for answers all these years 😔 it's devastating to think about Fonseca's sister saying "we can't believe that Veronica would do something like this" - how hard must it be to process the reality of your sibling being a suspect in a murder investigation 🤕

🤯 can u even imagine getting a call sayin ur ex partner was murdered like 30 yrs ago? 😱 then find out u r the prime suspect lol what a wild ride. i feel bad for her fam though, it's like they're gettin hit with a ton of grief all over again 🤕 and the fact that she mighta had nothin to do with it is just crazy. maybe she was framed or somethin 🤔 anyway, hope she gets a fair trial and whatever happens next, i hope she gets the help she needs 🙏

I'm low-key shocked by this whole thing 🤯. I mean, who would've thought that Veronica Fonseca's life was actually a crime scene? 😱 It's wild how anonymous tips can bring closure to old cases like this. The fact that it took 20+ years for the investigation to pick up speed is crazy though. My guess is that there's more to this story than meets the eye... maybe some shady secrets coming out? 🤫 Anyway, I do hope justice is served and Fonseca gets what she deserves. Justice is gonna be served 💪

OMG, this is like so crazy 🤯! I mean, Veronica Fonseca, a mom of two, suspected of murder? It's just wild how one anonymous tip can lead to someone's whole life being turned upside down 😲. And can you imagine if the authorities had found that tip back in '93? Like, what would've happened to Jackson and his family? 🤔

It's also pretty sad when you see the reactions from her family... like, yeah, it's devastating, but it doesn't excuse anything she might've done 💔. I guess you can never know for sure what goes on in someone's mind, but at least now there's some closure (or a new trail of trouble?) being pursued.

Fonseca's face is gonna be all over the news now 📰, and I'm curious to see how it plays out... will she go down for life? Only time'll tell 💫.

this case is like a never ending puzzle 😩🤯 can't believe it's finally come together after so many years... but on a positive note, it means justice might be served for the victim & his loved ones 💔👏 i feel bad for fonseca's family tho, must've been super hard to hear the news about their sister 🤕 hope she gets the help she needs in prison too 🤞

Can you believe it? A cold case that's been open since '93 just got solved 🤯 And I've got some stats on this - 70% of violent crimes go unsolved, so this is a huge win for law enforcement 🏆 According to the FBI, the average time spent investigating a cold case is around 5 years and 2 months... this one took almost 32 years 😱 And let's look at the demographics - 62% of female offenders are white, just like Veronica Fonseca 🚫 Anyway, it's still crazy to think about how long this case had been on the books... I wonder what led to that anonymous tip? 🤔

Here are some cold case stats for ya:

* 1 in 5 cold cases involve a murder
* The average age of victims in cold cases is 25-34 years old
* Most cold cases are never solved, with only 10% being cleared through DNA evidence 🚫💡
