Tornado Survivor Recounts Daring Ride Inside Pest Control Van

A harrowing story of survival has emerged from the devastating tornado that tore through Pulaski and Lonoke counties in Arkansas. Cody Coombes, a resident of Little Rock, found himself at the mercy of nature when an EF-3 tornado struck his neighborhood.

The National Weather Service reported that the tornado's estimated peak winds reached 165 miles per hour, causing catastrophic damage and loss of life. One person was killed in North Little Rock, while four others lost their lives in Wynne.

Coombes credits his pest control van for saving his life. The vehicle, which serves as a mobile headquarters for his business, proved to be an unlikely shelter from the storm. "I just kind of rode it out," he recounted in an interview with CNN.

The 0:30-minute video footage shows Coombes navigating the treacherous road conditions outside his van, where he is safely huddled beneath a metal table. The tornado raged on for several minutes, causing widespread destruction and chaos.

Despite the severity of the situation, Coombes expressed gratitude that he was able to ride out the storm in his trusty vehicle. "I feel like I got lucky," he said. "It could have been a lot worse."

The National Weather Service has issued warnings about the dangers of tornadoes, particularly for those living in areas prone to severe weather events. As the country continues to experience an increasing number of extreme weather incidents, it is essential to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

In Coombes' case, his quick thinking and preparation proved to be a lifesaver. The video footage serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of being prepared for severe weather events and seeking shelter in safe locations when necessary.

As the nation recovers from the devastating effects of this tornado, it is clear that there are still many lessons to be learned about the dangers of extreme weather and the need for vigilance. Coombes' harrowing experience serves as a stark reminder of the importance of staying informed and prepared for the unexpected.
