A 61-year-old man met a deadly end in Auburn Gresham early Friday morning, gunned down in a brutal act of violence that left him lifeless on the South Side.
His body was discovered unresponsive with a single gunshot wound to his chest in a gangway within the 7600 block of Sangamon Street at approximately 1:25 a.m. Despite attempts to revive him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have thus far made no arrests and are currently investigating the incident, handing over the reins to Area 2 detectives who will work tirelessly to unravel the threads of this senseless tragedy.

. We've been dealin' with this gang stuff for far too long and it's gettin' old. 61 years young and his life gets cut short like that? It don't make no sense at all. The police are doin' their thing but honestly, it feels like we're just seein' more of the same over and over again. I mean, what's the point of all this violence?
