Thieves made off with dozens of handguns and rifles in brazen heist at Livermore gun shop.
The owner of East Bay Firearms, Damon Butts, reported a significant loss after thieves smashed their way into the store on October 25th. The incident caused around $40,000 in damages and resulted in the theft of numerous firearms, leaving Butts stunned upon his arrival.
Butts has previously dealt with similar incidents, having shot down an armed robber two years ago. Nonetheless, he has invested heavily in upgrading security measures to prevent future break-ins. "We're back in business, and we're doing well," he said, attributing the store's return to improved security, facility enhancements, and cutting-edge technology.
According to Butts, the police and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) are actively working on apprehending the perpetrators. However, as of Saturday, neither the stolen goods nor the suspects had been caught.
Butts stressed that his store operates responsibly and takes necessary precautions. He has since put in place a range of new security features, including street bollards, motion sensors, and enhanced cameras, to bolster protection against repeat offenders.
Despite the incident, Butts expressed confidence that these measures will deter future break-ins, allowing the store to continue operating safely and securely.
