Joe Louis Southern Kitchen celebrates opening of Southfield location - Detroit Metro Times

Joe Louis Southern Kitchen Expands to Southfield with Grand Opening

The boxing-themed brunch spot, named after the legendary boxer Joe Louis, has announced its grand opening in Southfield. The restaurant, led by Joe Louis Barrow II, son of the boxing great, marks a significant milestone for the brand as it expands its operations beyond its original location in Detroit.

To commemorate this occasion, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on December 9, marking a new chapter in the journey of this beloved eatery. At the heart of the restaurant's concept lies the spirit of Joe Louis, whose legacy continues to inspire and unite people across the community.

The menu features an assortment of breakfast-style options, including scrambles, skillets, omelets, sandwiches, and more, all crafted with a focus on comfort food that brings family and friends together. The spacious 5,300-square-foot venue can accommodate approximately 99 diners and staffs 35 employees, creating an inviting atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals.

In addition to its delectable cuisine, the new location boasts a unique feature – a gift shop offering exclusive Joe Louis Southern Kitchen merchandise. This thoughtful touch not only enhances the overall dining experience but also provides customers with a tangible keepsake to remember their visit by.

The success of the brand's original location in Detroit has been evident, and it's clear that Southfield residents will welcome this new addition with open arms. As Johnny Cannon, co-CEO alongside Barrow, noted, "It's wonderful to see firsthand how our restaurants resonate with guests." With a third location slated for downtown Detroit opening in April, Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is poised to continue its growth as a staple of the community.

I think it's awesome that Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is expanding to Southfield! 🀩 They're keeping the spirit of the original spot alive while bringing more people together with their delicious comfort food. The new location looks cozy and inviting, especially with the gift shop - who wouldn't want a cool Joe Louis merch? 😎 I'm excited to see what other locations they'll open in Detroit next! The whole team seems super enthusiastic about it too, which is always a good sign. Can't wait to try it out for myself and see why everyone loves JLSK so much πŸ€—

πŸ€— I think it's awesome that Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is expanding to Southfield! It's always great to see local businesses thrive and bring more energy to the community. The fact that they're bringing comfort food with a fun twist (boxing-themed brunch spot?) sounds like just what people need after a long week 🍳πŸ₯Š. I'm also loving the idea of an exclusive gift shop – it's such a nice touch to make the experience even more special for customers. Can't wait to check out this new location and try some of those delicious dishes! πŸ˜‹

.. I gotta say, it's pretty cool to see how Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is spreading its wings, you know? Like, when we think about legacy and family, it's like... the spirit of Joe Louis lives on through his son and all these people working together to bring that same feeling of community and comfort food to more folks. And I love the gift shop idea, it's like a little piece of nostalgia that they can take home with 'em. But what really gets me is how this expansion stuff is about growth and change... and how some places just keep on growing and evolving in all the right ways πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

I'm so down for this! A Southern Kitchen in Southfield is just what we need, you know? They're building on their Detroit success, which is awesome 🀩. I mean, who doesn't love a good brunch spot with a boxing twist? The gift shop thing is genius – it's like they're giving customers a piece of the action. Can't wait to try it out and see what all the fuss is about! πŸ‘

Just had brunch at the new Joe Louis Southern Kitchen in Southfield and it's giving me life πŸ³πŸ‘! Love that they're keeping it cozy with a gift shop too, perfect for picking up some swag to remember the meal by πŸ’Ό. And can we talk about how their breakfast skillets are?! Fluffy eggs, crispy bacon... I'm sold πŸ‘Œ. Can't wait to see what other deliciousness they bring to downtown Detroit in April πŸŽ‰.

Ugh, another chain restaurant πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, I'm not saying it's bad, but why do they have to make it so... southern πŸ₯“? Can't they just stick with a more neutral vibe like most brunch spots? And don't even get me started on the gift shop πŸ›οΈ. Who thought it was a good idea to turn a restaurant into a mini mall? It's all about the $$, not the food πŸ˜’. I'm sure the new Southfield location will be just as overpriced and crowded as the one in Detroit. Not exactly the most original concept, if you ask me πŸ€”.

I gotta say, I'm super stoked to hear that Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is expanding to Southfield! 🀩 Who doesn't love a good brunch spot, right? 😊 The fact that they're keeping the spirit of their namesake, Joe Louis, alive and well in this new location is really cool. It's awesome that they're creating an inviting atmosphere for customers to enjoy meals with family and friends. I mean, who doesn't love comfort food, am I right? 🀀 And the gift shop thing is a genius move - it's always nice to have some exclusive merch to take home as a memento. I'm curious to try out this new spot and see what all the fuss is about! πŸ‘

omg i just read that joe louis southern kitchen is opening in southfield 🀩🍴 i mean who doesn't love a good brunch spot? and the fact that it's named after joe louis, the boxing legend? that's like, so cool! i'm thinking of taking my friends there for a post-workout meal (or pre-workout, let's be real πŸ˜‚) but honestly, i'd just go for their pancakes πŸ₯ž can't wait to try it out and see if they're as good as the reviews say πŸ’―

omg i cant believe they're expanding! 🀯 i mean, who wouldn't want to eat at a place named after joe louis? πŸ˜‚ its so cool that the restaurant is themed around boxing and has this awesome gift shop too... i wish we had something like that in our school's cafeteria πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ its defo a good spot for a study break tho, they gotta have comfy seating areas or else its gonna be super distracting during exams 😴

omg u guys i just found out that joe louis southern kitchen is opening up in southfield 🀩 i'm literally so down to try their food esp the breakfast options lol my auntie went to detroit last year and she said their chicken & waffles was TO DIE FOR πŸ³πŸ‘€ i wonder if they'll have any vegan options tho? anyway can't wait to check it out and see how big the gift shop is πŸ‘—πŸ’…

Ugh, another overhyped brunch spot πŸ€”. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to put a boxing-themed restaurant in Southfield? It's just going to be another crowded diner with mediocre food... *sigh*

I'm all for supporting local businesses and whatnot, but come on, 5,300 sq ft is kinda small for a venue that big πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. And $15 breakfast burritos? No thanks πŸ€‘. At least they're including some merch in the gift shop, I guess 😊. I hope it attracts more of Joe Louis's fans rather than just another bunch of Instagram influencers looking for a 'gram opportunity πŸ’β€β™€οΈ.

πŸ†πŸ³πŸ‘Œ Just tried Joe Louis Southern Kitchen in Southfield 🀩 and OMG their brunch is πŸ”₯! πŸ‘€ My fave part? The retro vibes πŸŽ‰ they added to the spot, it's like stepping into a boxing ring πŸ₯Š But seriously, the staff is super friendly 😊 and the food? 🍴 YUM! I'm low-key obsessed with their scrambled eggs πŸ₯š and biscuits 🍞 Can't wait for them to open in downtown Detroit πŸ“πŸ‘

I'm low-key hyped for this expansion 🀩! A boxing-themed brunch spot that's all about comfort food and community vibes? I'm here for it πŸ’•! The fact that they're keeping the spirit of Joe Louis alive is amazing, you know? It's not just about the food (although, I mean, the menu does look amazeballs πŸ˜‹), it's about creating a space where people can come together and feel united. And, omg, a gift shop? That's like, the ultimate touch πŸ›οΈ! Can't wait to try it out in Southfield and see how it all comes together πŸ’«

πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, can you blame 'em for expanding? Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is like the ultimate spot to bring people together, and that's something we should all be about 🍴. I love how they incorporated a gift shop – it's like a little slice of nostalgia with every purchase ❀️. And 99 seats might seem small, but hey, who needs a huge space when you've got amazing food and a cozy vibe? πŸ‘Œ Plus, the fact that they're opening another location in Detroit is just the cherry on top πŸŽ‰. I'm hyped to try out this new spot and see what all the fuss is about πŸ€”
