Greenland 2: Migration review – disaster sequel is disastrously self-serious

Gerard Butler's sequel to disaster movie Greenland takes its self-serious tone to an unfortunately absurd extreme, failing to deliver any real sense of hope or urgency in its perilous post-apocalyptic journey. The film picks up where the first left off, with engineer John Garrity (Butler) and his family living in a makeshift bunker beneath the icy surface of Greenland, struggling to cope with their confinement and loss of freedom.

As the family sets out on a treacherous mission across Europe to find a rumored pocket of breathable air, they face numerous challenges, including earthquakes, tidal waves, and radiation storms. While Butler's rugged presence helps anchor the film, the action is often marred by ridiculous set pieces and cringe-worthy drama that veers into maudlin territory.

The film's attempts to tackle real-world issues, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, fall flat. The characters' use of masks becomes a hollow plot device, and any sense of contemporary relevance quickly dissolves as the story careens into absurdity. Butler and director Ric Roman Waugh seem more interested in delivering a heavy-handed lecture than crafting a compelling narrative.

Ultimately, Greenland 2: Migration feels like a desperate attempt to recapture some of the hope and resilience that defined its predecessor. Instead, it succumbs to an overabundance of seriousness, transforming what could have been a gripping survival story into a plodding, emotionally manipulative slog. With a limited release schedule, viewers may find themselves wishing for a more nuanced exploration of this unforgiving world – but as it stands, Greenland 2 is a disaster movie sequel that fails to deliver on its promise.

ugh man, i felt so deflated after watching greenland 2: migration 🤕 it's like they took all the hope and resilience from the first movie and crammed it into this heavy-handed, serious mess. gerard butler is still ruggedly awesome, but even he can't save this film from its absurdity 🚨 i was expecting some real sense of urgency and desperation, but instead it just felt like a boring slog. and don't even get me started on the 'climate change' themes - they're just so handled in a way that feels like a lazy lecture rather than a genuine exploration 🙄 maybe if they'd focused more on character development and less on checking off climate change boxes, this movie could've been something 🤔

I'm so done with these post-apocalyptic movies trying to be deep and meaningful 🤦‍♂️. Like, can't they just have some fun with the whole "survival" thing? This Greenland 2 movie is just a total downer - all that seriousness and drama is exhausting 😴. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to put masks in a post-apocalyptic world where breathing air isn't even an option? 🤔 It's like they're trying to tell us something, but honestly, it's just annoying 💁‍♂️. And don't even get me started on the earthquakes and tidal waves - can't we just have some cool action scenes for once? 😎 I'm all about a good disaster movie, but this one is just a total snooze fest 🌫️.

ugh i was really looking forward to greenland 2 too, and now im kinda disappointed 🤕 the first one was cool, but if the second one is just going to be so serious all the time, it's like the writers forgot how to make a good story 📚 maybe they should've taken some notes from the first movie, you know? the whole thing feels like it's trying too hard to be deep and meaningful, but really it's just kinda meh 😐 still, gerard butler is pretty rad in this stuff 👊

I just watched Greenland 2: Migration and I'm still trying to figure out what happened 🤯. Gerard Butler's performance is solid, don't get me wrong, but the whole film feels like it's trying way too hard to be serious. It's like they took every post-apocalyptic trope and mashed them all together into one big mess 🌪️.

And can we talk about how ridiculous some of these scenes are? I mean, a family navigating Europe with radiation storms and earthquakes? Come on! It feels like the writers just threw a bunch of random disasters at the characters and hoped they'd somehow make it work 💥.

I was also super underwhelmed by the "real-world issues" they tried to tackle. Climate change and COVID-19, but done in such a heavy-handed way that it felt like a lecture rather than an actual story 📚.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you want a good disaster movie, there are better ones out there. And as for this one... well, let's just say it's a "migration" back to the drawing board 🌃

ugh dont get me wrong but gerard butlers sequel looks like total bummer 😔 the whole post-apocalyptic vibe just seems so overdone now and i was really hoping for some real hope or urgency in this one 🤞 instead it sounds like its just a heavy-handed lecture on covid and climate change which is just not gonna resonate with anyone 👎 maybe they shouldve stuck to making a more nuanced survival story? 🤔

😒 I'm tellin' ya, they're tryin' to control what we watch and think with these movies, man! First off, this Greenland sequel takes the whole apocalyptic thing way too seriously - it's like they're tryin' to make us feel guilty for enjoyin' a good disaster flick. And don't even get me started on the masks, bro... it's like they're tryin' to shove some kinda propaganda down our throats. 🤥 And what's up with the climate change stuff? It feels so forced and unnatural, like they're just tryin' to tick that "woke" box without puttin' in any real effort. I mean, can't we have a good old-fashioned disaster movie for once without all the heavy-handedness? 🤖

I'm so underwhelmed by Greenland 2 🤔. The whole 'survival in a post-apocalyptic world' vibe just doesn't feel earned here. I mean, what's the point of all this seriousness? It's like they're trying too hard to be deep and meaningful instead of actually creating a compelling story 📺. And don't even get me started on the mask plot device... seriously, how many times can you use masks as a convenient narrative crutch before it gets old? 🤦‍♀️ Source needed, please!

🤦‍♂️ I don't know how they can mess up something like this so badly, the whole film just feels like a big ol' mess 🌪️ and I'm not even talking about the effects, which are pretty wild 😲 but come on, can't they just dial it back a notch? 😬

I mean, I was really hyped for the sequel, thinking they'd amp up the action and drama, but instead it's like they took all the seriousness from the first film and cranked it up to 11 😒. I get what they were going for with tackling climate change and COVID, but the execution is so cheesy it's hard to take seriously. Butler's still got that rugged charm, but even he can't save this mess 🤦‍♂️. The whole thing feels like a heavy-handed lecture rather than an actual story 📚. It's like they're trying too hard to be "serious" and end up being the opposite – absurd and cringeworthy 😳. Next time, let's just give me some good old-fashioned action and suspense, you know? No preachy drama for me 🎥!

man... i was really looking forward to this one too 🤔 but honestly the trailer looked so intense and gritty, not at all like this 😐. i mean i love gerard butler, he's always good for something, but this whole self-serious vibe is just too much, it feels like they're trying way too hard to be serious about climate change and covid etc... newsflash, just saying it in the movie doesn't make it real 🙄. and can we talk about how ridiculous some of those set pieces look? i've seen more realistic special effects in a bad sci-fi film from 2005 🤯. overall, pretty disappointed 🎥

Ugh, I just watched Greenland 2 and I'm so underwhelmed 🤔... I mean, I get it, the whole apocalypse thing can be intense, but they went way too serious for me 😅... like, remember when the movie was supposed to be about survival and stuff? Now it's just a bunch of drama and overacting 🎭... Gerard Butler is still cool, but even he can't save this mess 🤷‍♂️... I'm all for tackling real issues, but they did it in such a heavy-handed way that it felt like they were hitting me over the head with a club ⚖️... Overall, just another disappointing sequel 😐

OMG 🤯, I'm soooo disappointed with Greenland 2: Migration! I mean, I loved the first one, it was like, super intense and emotional 🌪️, but this sequel takes it too far into "self-righteous tone" territory 😒. It's like they forgot that the point of a disaster movie is to keep you on the edge of your seat, not to hit you over the head with a heavy moral lesson 🙄.

And don't even get me started on the plot devices 🤷‍♂️... masks? really? And the drama? so cheesy 😳. I mean, can't they just focus on making it look pretty and exciting instead of trying to make some kind of statement about climate change or whatever?

Anywayz, if you want a thrilling survival story with actual tension, skip Greenland 2 and go watch something else 🎥👍.

I was really looking forward to this one 🤔, thought the first Greenland was intense enough without needing a sequel... and I gotta say, Butler's still got some rugged presence going for him 💪, but come on, it's like they took every cliche from disaster movies & mashed them all together into a big mess 🤦‍♂️. The whole thing feels so serious it's almost like they forgot how to have any fun with it 😐. And don't even get me started on the "tackling real-world issues" line... like, yeah no kidding we got COVID-19 & climate change, can we just wrap that up in a nice bow already? 🙄
