'Can't wait': Daniel Radcliffe to make Broadway return in Every Brilliant Thing

Daniel Radcliffe is set to make his highly anticipated Broadway return in the critically acclaimed one-person play "Every Brilliant Thing", which tackles the sensitive topic of depression with remarkable nuance.

The actor, who won a Tony award last year for his performance in the Stephen Sondheim revival "Merrily We Roll Along", will take on the lead role at the Hudson theatre in New York from February 21 to May 24, 2026. Written by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe, the play has already gained a significant following in London's West End, where it is currently running until November 8th.

The show's narrative revolves around a child's reaction to their mother's attempted suicide, as they attempt to help her cope with life. The child creates a list of reasons that make life worth living, inviting the audience to join in and shout out their own answers. As the child grows into adulthood, the list evolves to focus on the struggles faced by grown-ups seeking hope.

With its unique structure, "Every Brilliant Thing" has proven adaptable for various audiences. For instance, during Melina Theo's Greek premiere, the text was infused with references to Greek popular culture from the 90s, while Oliver Chong's performance in Singapore included a mention of a specific ice cream brand.

This will be Radcliffe's latest Broadway outing, following notable performances in "The Lifespan of a Fact", "Privacy", and "The Cripple of Inishmaan". As a former child star from the Harry Potter films, Radcliffe first appeared on stage in 2007, playing opposite Richard Griffiths in Peter Shaffer's "Equus".

Duncan Macmillan expressed his enthusiasm for having Radcliffe take on the role, praising his intelligence, quick wit, and charm. The actor has proven himself to be a versatile performer with immense depth and humanity, making him an ideal fit for this particular production.

Radcliffe will undoubtedly bring a new level of emotional authenticity to "Every Brilliant Thing", as he delves into the complexities of depression and hope in this poignant and uplifting play.

omg can't wait to see dan ruffalo go thru with this iconic role 😍🎭 it's about time we talk more openly about mental health & how we can make life worth livin' i mean his last performance was insane πŸ‘, but this one's gonna be on a whole diff level 🀯 & who knows maybe we'll even get to shout out our own answers at the end πŸ—£οΈ that would be lit πŸ˜† anyway, cant wait for feb 21st πŸ’₯

This reminds me of that time when our government announced increased funding for mental health services 🀝. It's about time we acknowledge that depression is just as much a part of the human experience as... well, you know 😐. I mean, Daniel Radcliffe is taking on this lead role because it's essential to raise awareness and encourage open conversation – kind of like how our politicians should be having more nuanced discussions about the state of healthcare πŸ€”. And can we talk about representation? As a former child star, he brings that unique perspective to the play, much like how our government could benefit from more diverse voices at the table πŸ“’. The fact that this play has already gained traction in London's West End is proof that this conversation needs to be had – now, if only we had more leaders willing to listen and take action 🎭!

Daniel Radcliffe is gonna kill it on Broadway with this one, you know? I love that he's taking on such a meaningful role after his Oscar win last year πŸ™Œ. This show is tackling some really tough stuff, but if anyone can bring the emotional depth to it, it's him. He's been in some amazing shows already and I'm stoked to see what he does with this one. The fact that the play adapts for different audiences is genius, it just goes to show how universal this story is 🀩. Can't wait to get tickets and experience it live!

🎭 I'm so stoked to hear that Daniel Radcliffe is taking on the lead role in "Every Brilliant Thing"! He's already proven himself to be a talented actor, but this show's tackling of depression is super important and I love that he's willing to use his platform to bring attention to it πŸ’–. The way the play explores hope and resilience through the child's list is so powerful, and I'm sure Radcliffe will bring a new level of emotional depth to the role ❀️. Fingers crossed for a sold-out run at the Hudson theatre! 🎟️

πŸ€• just heard that global oil reserves are down 20% due to increased demand from emerging markets 🌎😬 and now theres talk of a possible oil price spike πŸš¨πŸ’Έ bad news for anyone living on a budget! also, sounds like dan radcliffe's new play is about depression... hope he brings some light into the darkness πŸ’”πŸŒŸ

OMG 🀯 Daniel Radcliffe is finally back on Broadway 🎭! I'm so hyped for him to take on this role, it's like his portrayal in Harry Potter prepared him for something like this πŸ’‘. The fact that he won a Tony award last year shows how talented he really is πŸ™Œ. I've heard great things about the play and I'm not surprised that Duncan Macmillan chose him for the part - Radcliffe has shown time and time again that he can bring depth to his characters 🀝. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to see Daniel shouting out reasons why life is worth living on stage? πŸ˜‚ The fact that it's a one-person play makes it even more intriguing, I love how the child grows into adulthood and their list changes πŸ“. Can't wait for Feb 21st! πŸŽ‰

😊 omg i'm so hyped for dan radcliffe's bway return!! he's been killing it on screen and now he gets to tackle a role that's super close to his heart, mental health πŸ€— "every brilliant thing" is such an important show, i love how it encourages the audience to share their own reasons why life is worth living πŸŽ‰ it'll be so emotional watching him bring this story to life πŸ’” but with dan's talent, i know he's gonna nail it! can't wait to see him on stage from feb 21 - may 24 🎭

I'm so glad to see Daniel Radcliffe tackling such a tough topic like depression, but I do wish more families had open conversations about mental health from a young age. My kids are always asking me what's wrong when I'm not feeling well, and it's hard for me to explain in a way they can understand πŸ€—. This play seems like an amazing resource for parents to have with their kids, though! It could be really eye-opening for them to see how one child is helping another cope with life's struggles. Can't wait to see Daniel bring this powerful story to the stage 😊

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s awesome that Daniel Radcliffe is doing his part to raise awareness about mental health through this play πŸ€—. It's a super important topic, especially with how stigmatised it can be for some people. He's already shown his acting chops on stage and screen, but this role will really test him emotionally. I'm curious to see how he'll bring the character to life and how audiences will respond to it πŸ’‘. It's a shame it took this long for something like this to come out, especially with all the people struggling with depression and anxiety out there πŸ€•. Fingers crossed that Radcliffe's involvement will help make a difference! πŸ‘

OMG u guyz!!! 🀯 I cant even begin 2 c how talented dan radd is already!! 😍 he's like the ultimate thespian, u know? πŸ’₯ from harry potter 2 breaking into broadway & tonys... he's like the complete package!!! 🎬 i love that about this play "every brilliant thing" tho, it's so raw & honest about mental health struggles & hope. dan's gonna bring such depth to it, u can feel the emotions already πŸ’”πŸ‘ anyway, get ready 4 an epic performance from radd in february!!! πŸŽ‰

Ugh, I'm getting so sick of these one-person plays taking over Broadway 🀯. Don't get me wrong, Daniel Radcliffe is a talented actor and all, but can't we have some variety for once? Like, how about a fully-staffed production with multiple actors and sets that don't make you feel like you're stuck in a tiny box of despair? I mean, "Every Brilliant Thing" does sound heavy-duty, but seriously, who wants to watch the same 5 guys on stage crying their eyes out for hours on end? 🀣 Give me some drama with dancing, or at least some epic set changes. This is just too much for my entertainment budget πŸ’Έ

Wow 🀩, can't wait to see Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway again! This one-person play sounds so powerful and honest about depression. It's awesome that it's already getting a lot of attention in London and now it's going to be even bigger in NYC πŸ’₯. I love how the show makes you join in and share your own answers, that's so interactive and engaging 🀝. Radcliffe is known for his talent and range, so I'm sure he'll bring a lot of depth to this role πŸ’‘.
