Bryan Johnson reveals top rule for maintaining baby skin: ‘People give me so much s–t’

Anti-aging mogul Bryan Johnson has shared his top tip for maintaining "baby skin" into adulthood: be mindful of your timing when it comes to soaking up the sun's rays.

Johnson, 48, recently took to Instagram to warn about the dangers of excessive UV exposure. He pointed to a viral video that showed a man with deeply tanned, wrinkled, and spotted arms after decades of working outdoors – starkly contrasting his own smooth and even-toned skin.

"It's all about getting the right dose at the right time," Johnson said in an Instagram post. "Too much sun can lead to photoaging and cancer, while too little won't give you any benefits."

Johnson recommends going outside when the UV index is low – typically around 3 or below, which often means mornings or evenings. When the index climbs above three, he turns to protective measures like hats, umbrellas, or mineral sunscreen.

"Try to avoid chemical-based sunscreens," Johnson advises. "Mineral-based ones are less likely to be absorbed through your skin and are more environmentally friendly."

Johnson's approach is not about avoiding the sun entirely, but about finding that sweet spot where you can reap its benefits without sacrificing your skin health.

According to Johnson, having just the right amount of sun exposure – "like Goldilocks" – is key. And with over 33,000 severe sunburns requiring emergency room visits each year in the US alone, it's clear he's not alone in his concern.

With more than 9,500 people diagnosed with skin cancer every day across the country, Johnson's words of caution are timely and well-warranted. The American Cancer Society estimates that nearly 8,430 people will die from melanoma this year – a sobering reminder to be mindful of our sun exposure habits.

Johnson's advice may seem simple, but it's one worth following: don't let the risks outweigh the benefits, and find that perfect balance between soaking up the sun and protecting your skin.

Wow 🤯🌞 this is so interesting how Bryan Johnson is sharing his experience and research on anti-aging to spread awareness about sun safety. I've seen those viral videos of people getting super tanned and spotted, it's crazy! And Johnson's tip about timing and using mineral-based sunscreens makes total sense. He's not trying to be a buzzkill or anything, but it's clear he's doing his research and wants to help people make informed decisions about their skin health 💡

sunscreen is so overrated 🙄 i mean dont get me wrong its good for u but all these fancy mineral sunscreens r just a bunch of hype theyre still just gonna absorb into ur skin anyway plus they can be super expensive. im just gonna stick w/ my trusty ol' non-nose-twitchin' broadspectrum sunscreen from the 90s lol it does the trick 😂 and if im out in the sun for more than an hour ill just slather on some aloe vera and call it a day 🌞

🌞👀 i mean, think about it, people are always saying we need to chill with the sun more often...but what they dont tell u is that too much of a good thing can be BAD news 🤕 like Bryan Johnson said, its all about timing, dont be out there in the peak sun hours when ur skin cant handle it 🌅 plus, those chemical sunscreens? not so great for the environment 🌿 mineral-based ones are def the way to go! also, 33k severe sunburns every year? that's crazy 💥

I gotta say, I'm all for Bryan Johnson's tip on timing your sun exposure 🌞👍. We've all seen those viral vids of people who can't even walk outside without looking like a lobster 🦐, and it's crazy to think about how easy it is to overdo it.

But at the same time, I'm not convinced that we should be living our lives under an umbrella 24/7 😂. Moderate sun exposure can actually be beneficial for vitamin D levels and overall health, right? It's all about finding that balance, but not being overly paranoid about it either 🤔.

And yeah, I get why Johnson's teaming up with environmentalists to promote mineral-based sunscreens – the whole chemical thing does sound sketchy 😷. But let's be real, we still need some protection from those UV rays, even if it is a bit of an eco-conundrum 🌿.

🌞️ I'm so done with this whole "get enough sunshine" narrative. We've been conditioned to believe that a tan is the key to eternal youth, but what about all those people who are already rocking great skin without it? 🤷‍♀️ Newsflash: having baby skin doesn't mean you're doing everything right. It just means you haven't gotten burned into a crisp yet. Let's stop fetishizing UV rays and start talking about real skincare strategies – like using the right products, taking care of your skin at night, and not smoking. 🌸💆‍♀️

omg can u believe ppl r still getting caught w/ severe sunburns? i got a cousin who went thru dat & had to stay indoors 4 months 🤕 he took it way too far tho instead of just reapplying sunscreen, he stayed indoors like 8+ hrs a day...anyway, jordan says u gotta find that sweet spot w/ sun exposure its not about bein a vampire or a lobster lol its all abt being smart & taking care of ur skin

I'm so done with people ignoring their sunscreen game 🙄. Like, Bryan Johnson is right on point here, guys! You can still get some Vitamin D without turning into a lobster 💦. I remember my grandma used to go out during early morning or evening when the sun wasn't too harsh and she'd be fine ☀️. And don't even get me started on chemical sunscreens - who thought that was a good idea?! 🤯 Mineral-based ones are where it's at, imo 💖. It's all about finding that balance, not being extreme 🌈. Too much sun is bad news, but so is avoiding it altogether 🙅‍♀️. We gotta take care of our skin, people! 🕰️

☀️ just saw a video of some dude who's like 60 and his arms are all wrinkled and spotty from years of UV damage 😱 anyone think it's too late for Bryan Johnson to try out this "baby skin" trick? 🤔 the fact that he has to recommend hats and umbrellas for high UV days is kinda weird tho, feels like we're already living in a bubble 🌡️
