Being Eddie review – reverential Netflix doc paints limited portrait of Eddie Murphy

i think the doc should've gone deeper into eddie's struggles 🤔. all these armchair psych analyses just don't feel right 💭. it's like they're trying to fit his whole life into this neat little package, but honestly, being human is messy 🌪️. and yeah, why gloss over those controversies? would've made for a way more interesting doc 📺. i mean, eddie's had an amazing career, but nuance is key, right? 👍

I'm really disappointed with this docu "Being Eddie". They gloss over so many important parts of his career and personal life 🤔. Like, what about that 1997 arrest? It's a huge part of his story, but they just leave it out like it's nothing. And don't even get me started on the SNL controversy - that was like, such a defining moment in his career! 📺

And I'm not buying the whole "paying for funeral arrangements" thing... it sounds like some armchair psychology nonsense 🤷‍♂️. I need more context and sources to back this up. And what about the women he's been with? His daughter with Mel B is barely mentioned, but that's a huge deal in his life.

The film feels like a PR stunt more than an actual exploration of Eddie Murphy's experiences 📣. They're just scratching the surface and then just... done. I need to see more depth, more nuance. Can't we get some interviews with people who actually knew him back in the day? 🤔

I was really looking forward to watching this docu, but I gotta say it felt kinda... shallow 🤔. It's like they were trying to sell us on Eddie's greatness without actually digging deep enough. I mean, where were the behind-the-scenes stories about SNL? Or his struggles with addiction and depression? The whole thing just felt like a PR campaign, you know? 😐 I guess what really bothered me was how they glossed over some of the more interesting parts of his life. Like, what happened in '97? You'd think that's at least worth mentioning 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, I still love Eddie, but this doc didn't quite hit the mark for me 🎥.

I think it's kinda harsh to say this doc's a total flop just 'cause it doesn't cover every single part of Eddie's life 🤷‍♂️. I mean, come on, 40+ years in the industry? That's a lot of ground to cover! And yeah, maybe some of the "psychology" stuff feels a bit forced, but what do we expect from a doc about a legend like Eddie Murphy? He's been through ups and downs, for sure 🤯. It's not like they're trying to sugarcoat his struggles or anything. The omissions are just a minor thing, imo 💔. And, honestly, I kinda liked the final act 🎀... it's all about closure, right? 🌈

I just watched "Being Eddie" on Netflix 📺 and I gotta say, it feels kinda half baked. I mean, they show off all this crazy lavish stuff he's got, but then it turns out his daily life is pretty chill. It's like, yeah okay Ed, we get it, you've got a sweet mansion and a big bank account 💸. But where's the depth? Where's the real talk about his struggles with fame, or how he really feels about some of these people he mentions.

And what's up with all these omissions? Like, they leave out some major stuff that would give us a more well-rounded view of him as a person. I mean, come on, 14-day marriage to a producer? That's some wild stuff 🤯. And don't even get me started on the SNL thing... it just feels glossed over without any real context.

The only good part is when he talks about his feelings on loss and how that relates to him paying for some famous people's funerals. That was pretty deep and emotional 💔. But overall, it just felt like they were trying to sell us a story instead of really exploring who Ed Murphy is as a person 🤑.

I'm still gonna watch more of his movies, though 😊. I mean, the man is a legend for a reason!

🤔 I mean, what's up with this documentary? It feels like they're just trying to cash in on Eddie Murphy's name. I remember watching "Beverly Hills Cop" back in the day and it was so much funnier than this. And don't even get me started on the omissions - where's the mention of all those crazy controversies he got himself into? It's like they're trying to whitewash his history or something. I'd rather stick with the old-school Eddie Murphy stand-up specials, you know? At least those gave you a real idea of who he was as a comedian. This documentary just feels like a watered-down version of his life story 🎬💦
