Premier League sides Arsenal and Crystal Palace have had their upcoming matches against Everton and Leeds United respectively moved to Saturday, December 20th from Sunday, December 21st. The decision was made by the Premier League after requests from both clubs in order to reduce fixture congestion.
Arsenal's trip to Goodison Park will now take place at 8pm, while Crystal Palace's match at Elland Road has been shifted from a mid-afternoon kick-off to an evening one.
The move comes as both teams prepare for their EFL Cup quarter-final matches. Palace are facing KuPS in the Conference League on December 18th with just two days between that and the Premier League match, although they will still be playing three times in four days.
Arsenal's game against Everton was also subject to a request from Mikel Arteta's side for the match to take place later. The Gunners stated that this would help players prepare for the EFL Cup tie as well as reduce the impact of television scheduling on travelling supporters.
The Premier League has confirmed that player welfare is their top priority and have moved the fixtures in an effort to minimize disruption to players.
