Apparently, Edgar Wright Turned Down Directing an 'X-Men' Movie

Edgar Wright's "X-Men" Dream Project Was a Long Time Coming, Until It Didn't Happen. The question has always been: what if Edgar Wright had directed one of Marvel's biggest films? Well, it looks like we'll never know the answer to that, but recent comments from producer Simon Kinberg have shed new light on a project that could've been.

For over 25 years, Kinberg had been trying to collaborate with Wright, who he met early in his career. Over the years, Kinberg sent Wright numerous projects, including several X-Men movies, and each time, Wright politely declined. "I’ve been trying to make a movie with Edgar Wright for over 25 years," Kinberg recalled. "We met when we were young guys in Hollywood, just starting out together, and I’ve been such a huge fan of his." Despite numerous attempts, Kinberg never managed to get Wright on board until his most recent film, The Running Man.

Kinberg has written or produced every X-Men movie since 2006, working with top directors like Matthew Vaughn, James Mangold, Tim Miller, and David Leitch. While we don't know the specific projects he offered to Wright, it's clear that Kinberg had a vision for what could've been an amazing collaboration.

The most intriguing part of this story is what might have been if Edgar Wright had directed X-Men: First Class or Deadpool. Although we'll never see those films now, it's easy to imagine Wright's unique take on the characters and storylines. For fans who have always wondered "what if," Kinberg's comments offer a tantalizing glimpse into an alternate reality where Wright's vision came to fruition.

Despite this never happening, Kinberg does get to collaborate with Wright again on The Running Man, which is currently playing in theaters. We can look forward to reading Wright's thoughts on the project in an upcoming interview.

😐 I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Edgar Wright was never given a chance to bring his unique vision to the X-Men franchise 🤔. 25 years of trying, and he just gets passed over for some other director 🚫. It's frustrating because we've seen how great he can do with projects like Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World 🎥.

I'm curious about what specific projects Kinberg offered to Wright back in the day 🤔, but I guess that info is still a trade secret 🤫. One thing's for sure, though - if anyone could've made an awesome X-Men movie, it would've been Edgar Wright 💥. Maybe we'll never know what could've been, but at least we have his work to look back on and imagine what might've been 🎬.

I'm also wondering, what was the final straw that made Kinberg give up on trying to get Wright on board? Was it a creative difference or something else entirely? 🤝 We'll just have to keep waiting for Wright's thoughts on The Running Man interview 👀.

man, it's crazy thinking about what could've been with edgar wright at the helm of x-men 🤯 like, we all know he's a genius director and his style would've brought something so unique to the franchise 💥 imagine him tackling first class or deadpool - it's mind boggling! but you know what's even more impressive? simon kinberg's dedication to making things happen 🙌 25 years is a long time, and to still have that passion and enthusiasm for collaborations like this is truly inspiring ❤️ anyway, can't wait to see what edgar thinks about the running man now... fingers crossed he spills some tea 🍵👀

I don’t usually comment but... Edgar Wright’s style would’ve totally changed the direction of those X-Men movies, you know? Like, think about it - he brought that fast-paced energy and humor to Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World... how awesome it would’ve been if he applied that same flair to superhero flicks! 🤯 It’s crazy that it never happened, but at least we get to imagine what could’ve been 😊.

man that's crazy how edgar wright and simon kinberg have been trying to collab for like 25 years 🤯 i mean its awesome to see that they're working together now on The Running Man, but what if they had made one of the x-men movies? i'm thinking deadpool would've been insane with edgars style 😂 or x-Men: first class might've taken a darker turn. anyway gotta check out this upcoming interview to see what edgar has to say 📚

🤔 Edgar Wright was like the X-Men version of a puzzle piece that just didn't fit... or so we thought 😏. I mean, come on, 25 years? That's like a quarter century of missed opportunities! 🕰️ Can you even imagine Deadpool with a British twist from Wright? 🇬🇧 It would've been bloody brilliant 💥! And what about First Class? Wright's dark humor would've added such depth to the film... sadly, we'll never know 🤦‍♂️. But hey, at least we get to see Wright bring his unique style to The Running Man... and who knows, maybe we'll get some behind-the-scenes peeks into what could've been 😊👀

I'm still disappointed that Edgar Wright's dream X-Men project didn't come to pass 🤔. It would've been awesome to see his take on the franchise, especially with films like First Class and Deadpool 👊. I wonder what he would've done differently and how it would've impacted the overall storyline 🎥. The fact that Simon Kinberg had been trying to collaborate with Wright for over 25 years is impressive 💯. Maybe we'll get a glimpse into Wright's thoughts on it in an upcoming interview, and who knows, maybe one day he'll bring his unique vision to the X-Men universe 😊.

🤔 I'm still trying to imagine what Edgar Wright would've done with X-Men: First Class or Deadpool 🦹‍♂️👊 Wright's style is all about high-octane action and humor, so it would be crazy to see him take on those characters! 💥 The idea of a Deadpool movie from Wright is especially intriguing – he's always been a master of blending dark and comedic tones. It's bittersweet that we'll never get to see what he had in store for us 🤕
