American man wins Chevron Houston Marathon for 1st time since 2002

Houston, Texas: Zouhair Talbi becomes first American man to win Chevron Houston Marathon since 2002.

Talbi sets course record with blistering time of 2:05:45 and secures victory over Ethiopian competitor Adane Kebede Gebre.

"I knew I had under 2:06:00 in me, and I was just trying to find the perfect time," said Talbi, emphasizing that he picked Houston for its fast course.

Talbi finished ahead of Gebre with a time of 2:05:45. The victory comes on the heels of his U.S. Army reserve debut after migrating to America in 2025.

Talbi's win marks first time an American male has claimed the top spot since 2002, a milestone he was eager to achieve.

He outperformed Gebre by 29 seconds and credited the pacers for helping him stay on track.

"I'm grateful for the competition," said Talbi. "That's when I dug deeper."

Talbi was presented with the U.S. flag as part of his victory ceremony, an honor he has held close to his heart since moving to America.

He competed under the American flag in 2024 and finished in second place before going on to compete for Morocco at the Olympics.

The event also saw a stellar performance from Sara Hall, who broke the master's record by nearly two minutes with a time of 2:28:42.

Meanwhile, Habtom Samuel won the men's half-marathon event with an impressive 59-minute victory.

Fantaye Belayneh secured the women's half-marathon title with a finish time of 1:04:49.

The Chevron Houston Marathon drew over 30,000 athletes from across the U.S. and international borders, supported by millions of spectators who lined the course to cheer them on.

Despite not winning, an American woman did make history, as Sara Hall's performance edged closer to a record finish time.

ugh, i'm so done with how long it takes to get around this forum lol... anyways, congrats to zouhair talbi on his win at the chevron houston marathon πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨ - 2:05:45 is pretty impressive! but honestly, who needs a bunch of random comments and spam in our main thread when we're trying to discuss stuff? can't we just have a clean conversation without all that noise? πŸ™„ and btw, why do i need to see the same memes from last week again... 🀯

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ just saw the news about Zouhair Talbi winning Chevron Houston Marathon and I gotta say, that guy is a beast! 2:05:45 is crazy fast! 🀯 What's even more inspiring is his background story - going from Morocco to the US Army reserve and then dominating this marathon. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ I'm loving how he represented America on the course with pride! πŸ’ͺ

idk about this win, I mean Talbi's all good but 2:05:45 is a pretty fast time lol what's next 1hr 30 mins πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ gotta wonder how many miles he did on training runs though...also, did anyone catch Sara Hall's face when she broke the masters record? πŸ˜‚

Just saw this πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ news about Zouhair Talbi becoming 1st American man to win Chevron Houston Marathon in ages! 😲 I think he's got skills and was meant for this πŸ™Œ He trained hard and chose the perfect course, that's all the winning is πŸ’ͺ. Also impressed by Sara Hall's performance πŸ‘ - she's breaking records left & right πŸ“ˆ. It's awesome to see more talented athletes emerging in the US πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ.

OMG u gotta love Zouhair Talbi!!! 😍 He ran like crazy and broke all expectations! Fastest time since 2002! What's even crazier is he went from Morocco to USA & US Army reserve in like just one year! That's dedication & perseverance at its best! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ

I'm stoked that Zouhair Talbi won the Chevron Houston Marathon πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ, but I gotta say, 2:05:45 is still kinda crazy fast! I mean, he's got skills for sure, but I'd love to see him crush it by even more seconds in the next event. And can we talk about how amazing Sara Hall is? She broke that master's record and gave us all a run for our money πŸ†πŸ‘. The American flag was proudly waving at the finish line, and I'm sure it meant the world to Talbi after his journey here. I wish he had more American training under his belt before making the move; still, we can't argue with results!

I'm kinda surprised Talbi actually won lol 🀯, I mean I thought for sure he'd be like "close but no cigar" πŸ˜’... wait, nope, he crushed it! 2:05:45 is fast, dude πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ. But on the other hand, I don't know if this is really a big deal, like, isn't there some other guy who's been running marathons for years and could've done this easily? πŸ˜•... nope, not him πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ, it's Talbi all the way! And can we talk about how cool it is that he outperformed Gebre by 29 seconds? That's dedication πŸ’ͺ. But, I dunno, maybe I'm just being too harsh and underestimating Talbi's skills 😐... or maybe I am kinda right πŸ€”.

I'm so stoked for Zouhair Talbi 🀩! He's been grinding for a long time, and it's amazing he finally broke that 2002 barrier πŸ’¨. I mean, the guy picked Houston because of its fast course, and it clearly paid off πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ. And can we talk about how proud he must be to be the first American man to win since... well, ever πŸ˜…? I'm loving his humility too - "I knew I had under 2:06 in me" gives me all the feels πŸ’•. Plus, it's awesome that he got to celebrate with the U.S. flag πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ... now we're talking!

Man this guy Talbi is insane 🀯! 2:05:45 is like crazy fast for a marathon, I mean I can barely run a mile without needing oxygen πŸ˜‚. And he's an American too which is dope, love seeing more folks on the US Army reserve competing in big events. The fact that it's been so long since someone else won makes this victory even sweeter. That course record is going to be hard to beat πŸ†.

OMG what a legend Zouhair Talbi is!!! πŸ™Œ I was literally following this thread from like 2 days ago but forgot to come back πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ! Anyways, it's so inspiring to see him break all those records and become the first American man to win since 2002. I mean, that course record of 2:05:45 is insane!!! 😲 What really gets me though is how he's been working towards this moment since moving to America in 2025 - it just goes to show that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible πŸ™. Can we get a repeat performance from Sara Hall next year? πŸ€”

Yaaas this guy Zouhair Talbi is literally a superhero!! 🀩 I mean 2:05:45 is insane! I've been training for like forever but can't even come close to his pace lol. He chose Houston for the fast course and it paid off big time! Adane Kebede Gebre must be super bummed though πŸ˜”, still congrats to Talbi on this epic win πŸŽ‰. Sara Hall breaking the master's record is like WOW, I'm seriously hyped for her too 🀯 what's next for her?!

man I'm so stoked for Zouhair Talbi! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽ‰ winning the Chevron Houston Marathon is like, totally awesome and stuff... but gotta say, it's also kinda weird that it took him this long to win since 2002 lol. still, his time of 2:05:45 is insane! 🀯 I mean, I can imagine how fast he must have been running with those pacers helping him along the way... and I love that he said he's grateful for the competition - it's all about pushing yourself to be better, right? πŸ’ͺ but what really gets me is that he had to leave Morocco to compete in America and now he's made history here... πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ… it's like, a true American hero in my book! πŸ‘
