I'm really surprised they caught so many officials in the act... like, what's going on with these guys? 65% of them are betting? It's not just about the money, it's about the integrity of the game itself
. I mean, if you're gonna do that, why bother showing up to work and pretending to be a referee?
And yeah, the punishment is a good start, but Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu says there's a bigger issue at play - "moral crisis" or whatever... like, what does that even mean? Can't you just create some structure and hold people accountable?
It's easy to say it's all about the moral high ground, but at the end of the day, it's just a bunch of grown men messing around with their bank accounts while the game is going on...
But I guess that's what happens when you let corruption breed like this. We should be worried about the long-term effects on the sport itself. Do they even care about restoring credibility?
