Local Girl's Quick Thinking Saves Her Mother's Life with CPR.

Eleven-year-old Josie Pethan from Appleton, Wisconsin, has been hailed as a hero after her quick thinking and bravery saved her mother's life during a sudden medical emergency at their home.

The incident occurred when Josie was home sick from school on the same day she witnessed her mother suddenly losing consciousness while reading in the living room. With her maternal instincts triggered, Josie immediately called for help, alerting her grandparents to the situation.

A 911 dispatcher, guided by Brenda Dawes, quickly took over and walked Josie through the steps of performing CPR on her ailing mother. Thanks to Josie's actions, she was able to get her mother onto the ground and start compressions, which ultimately led to the timely arrival of EMTs who took over life-saving efforts.

Fortunately, Josie's mother is now recovering from her ordeal, thanks in large part to the swift response by emergency services. The Appleton Police Department has recognized Josie with a certificate and challenge coins in recognition of her heroism, symbolizing achievement in law enforcement.

I'm not surprised she was able to stay calm and think on her feet... I mean, it's not like she was just sitting around twiddling her thumbs at home sick from school 🤷‍♀️. I guess you could say she's a natural-born hero, or maybe just really good at watching Netflix alone while waiting for her mom to recover 😒. But seriously, kudos to Josie and the EMTs who arrived in time to save her mom's life. It's always inspiring to see kids taking care of their parents when they're needed most 💕. And yeah, a certificate and challenge coins from the Appleton Police Department? That's totally what every 11-year-old needs more than a good night's sleep 😴.

I'm literally soooo impressed by this little girl 🤯! I mean, 11 years old is like, super young to be dealing with that kind of situation, but she handled it like a total pro 💪! I think what's even more amazing is that she knew exactly what to do - calling for help and following those steps guided by the dispatcher. It just goes to show how much you can learn in school (and life) about these things! Anyway, CPR training should be made mandatory in schools ASAP, imo 🤓. Kudos to Josie and her family for staying calm under pressure 💕

Shes literally saved her own mom's life 🤯💕... what's the protocol for this kind of situation? Shouldn't we have these lessons in schools already? I mean, it's not like Josie was born with CPR skills or anything 😂. She just acted on instinct and her heart 💖. We need more people like her 👧💪!

OMG 😱 can you even believe that kid? 11 yrs old and she's already saving lives!!! CPR training is like something we should all have just in case... or at least have some basic idea of what to do 🤦‍♀️ Josie's mom is one lucky lady (and daughter) to have such an amazing kiddo looking out for her! The fact that the 911 dispatcher was so calm and guided Josie through it all? Gives me goosebumps 💕 My heart is literally racing thinking about how fast things escalated... what if they hadn't gotten help in time? 🤯

omg this girl Josie is literally my hero!! 😍 I mean i dont know what would happen if i was in that situation lol her mom is super lucky to have her daughter looking out for her like that! CPR can be super scary but Josie just took it upon herself and called 911 then performed the compressions... talk about being calm under pressure lol. its always great to hear about kids being heroes its gonna inspire a lot of young people to make a difference in their communities 🌟

omg i cant even handle how brave & selfless josie is like seriously 11 yrs old? my little cousin was only 7 when she had a major asthma attack at home and we were so grateful to have a neighbor who called 911 for us, but this girl is just wow idk if im crying or cheering her on hard lifesaving skills rn

Wow 😮💖 Interesting that she was able to stay calm under pressure and act so fast... like, 911 is just a call away but still it's really brave of her to know CPR & use it on her mum! 🤯

that's amazing 🙌, i mean 11 years old doing cpr on her mom is just wow... i'm glad she stayed calm and got help fast, it could've been super bad if she didn't call those people 📞, but at the same time, some parents are like 'you're not responsible for saving lives' no way, kids can make a difference too, especially when they're quick on their feet 💨.

🤩 I'm so inspired by Josie's quick thinking! She literally saved her mom's life with CPR - what an amazing kid 💖! It's not every day you hear about someone that age being a lifesaver 😂. And the fact that she stayed calm and helped get medical help on its way is just incredible 🙌. What I love most is how this whole thing highlights the importance of family support systems - if Josie hadn't been home with her mom, who knows what could've happened? 🤷‍♀️ The 911 dispatcher also played a huge role in getting everything under control, so kudos to her too 👍. This just goes to show that even little actions can have big impacts when it counts 💪!

OMG OMG OMG!!! 🤩 I'm totally beaming w/ pride 4 this amazing girl Josie!!! 😍 She's literally a total lifesaver! I mean, can u imagine being just 11 yrs old & havin' the calmness & quick thinkin' 2 save ur mom?? 💖 That's some serious bravery & maternal love right there!!! 🙌 The fact that she stayed chill & called for help is what really made a diff. 🤩 I'm literally so impressed by that 11-yr-old girl Josie Pethan! I mean, can you even imagine being that calm under pressure? 😅 She's got some serious mom skills right there - literally saving her own mom's life with CPR! 💕 That's the kind of quick thinking and bravery we should all aspire to! 👏 And kudos to those 911 dispatchers who guided her through it all, Brenda Dawes is a lifesaver too 🙌. The fact that she got her mom onto the ground and started compressions on time? Game-changer! 💪

omg this girl Josie is literally a lifesaver 🙌 i mean what would happen if she didn't know what to do? the 911 dispatcher guided her through it all, which made all the difference 💡 and it's amazing that her grandparents were there too, supporting her and helping with the emergency. i'm so proud of Josie for staying calm in a super scary situation, she's like an official hero 🏆

I gotta say, I'm not buying this whole "hero" thing 🤔. I mean, yeah, Josie did do CPR on her mom, but what about all the other 11-year-olds out there who are watching their parents die at home? Are they just sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting for a kid like Josie to show up? It's pretty convenient that she happened to be home sick from school 🤷‍♀️. And what's with the whole "quick thinking" thing? Was she just staring at her mom, waiting for her to collapse, and then suddenly thought, "Hey, I should call 911!"? It sounds like a pretty scripted scenario to me 😒.

OMG u guys! 🤯 I'm literally shaking with amazement 😲 after reading about this 11-yr-old girl Josie who saved her mom's life w/ CPR!!! 💡 I mean, what a kiddo right? She was just home sick from school and suddenly her mom drops like a stone in the living room! But instead of panicking, she takes charge and calls for help. And then this 911 dispatcher Brenda Dawes steps in and guides her thru the whole CPR process... talk about quick thinking & skills 💪

I'm literally so grateful for kids like Josie who show us what it means to be brave & selfless 😊. And can we give her a round of applause for being such an amazing kiddo? 🎉

💪 That little girl is literally saving lives right before our eyes... CPR training should be taught from an early age, especially to kids so they know what to do in emergency situations like that 🤯. She's only 11 and already making a huge impact 💖. We could all learn a thing or two from her quick thinking and bravery 💡.
